Great video. Solid instructions and explanations. The standard at which all 'how to' videos should be held.
Much appreciated brother. I try my best to be thorough and to the point. If you ever run into anything and have questions I’m always around for advice.
@@MrV2u That is very much appreciated. I'll keep that in mind!
I saw a good hack on changing the oil on this car, since the filter is straight up and down, the guy just loosened the filter just enough to finish by hand and then put a plastic beer cup or something of appropriate size and twisted it off with the cup underneath to catch the dripping oil. Worked like a charm, not a drop of oil spilled removing the oil filter. For what it's worth
@@robertkees6048 good deal brother. Thanks for the advice. On my Ram I wrap a 1/2 gallon zip lock bag around it and do the same thing.
Thanks for the video. Very clear and concise instructions no bullshit. Appreciate it brother
Very welcome brother. I try my best.
Amazingly easy, two tabs take off by hand.. wow. Looks like KIA really likes their customers eh. Thanks for this!
You got it my friend. Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you so much. I watched a bunch of other videos and for some reason they all were showing the oil filter under the hood, which I couldn’t find. Didn’t want to start until I knew what I was working with. Appreciate it v much!!
Glad to have helped you out brother. Let me know how you make out.
Never seen it done up close, very interesting and thorough, thanks.
Sandra B. Ward thanks, it’s not a bad job to do on your own. Save yourself some money and do it on your own. That’s what I always recommend.
My dad didn’t teach me shit and I’m tired of paying Walmart 60$. Thank you.
Let me know if you have any questions on it and I’ll try to walk you through it. You’re the reason why I make my videos, trying to help people save their money and do it themselves.
Nice video. I recommend not pouring in the full amount of oil, just add 5 quarts and then check the levels. There may be a little residual oil still in there to account for. At five quarts you'll have plenty in there to not have any problems, but if you overfill you can have some serious issues and it's always easier to add a little more than to take a little out.
I always add less than what’s needed at first. I’ve been a mechanic for over 20 years brother. But that’s a good tip.
@@MrV2u I can tell from how you present material you know your stuff. My comment was aimed at others who might be watching that may be first timers changing their oil.
Your correct brother. It will help people out for sure. Thanks for the feedback my friend.
Thanks for showing us that. It sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks were removing the oil filter!
Lol my voice tends to do that when I get too much coffee. Glad to help out brother.
Great 👍 video
Thanks brother.
No matter how many miles have the car, It’s the same oil number ?
Pd Thanks for the video.
You can use a high mileage oil of the same weight if you have high miles on it.
Do you happen to do anything for the bigger 3.3L Lamda II engine? I swear, searching for this engine is like searching for a unicorn when it comes to finding repair videos. Everything is the 2.4L Theta engine. I might just cry soon and search for 🧨 it’ll be faster 🤣🤦🏼♀️
I don’t have anything for that motor either my friend. Sorry to be the bearer of that news. What are you trying to do on it? Maybe I can scrounge up some info for ya. Good luck hunny!
Clean work...I have a question How many liters of oil are specified for the engine?
5.3 quarts with filter replacement brother.
Should have added how to reset the oil life indicator.
Turn the engine ON
If service is due the display will show “Service required” when the vehicle is turned on
While the message is displayed press and hold the DOWN arrow button on steering wheel for more than 1 second
The service interval will reset to the default setting
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to confirm the message/light has been reset
What if there is no down arrow on the steering wheel?
It’s the button on the bottom.
How do you know to change the oil again? Like how do you find out the miles or the date?
You have a reminder in the instrument cluster. Full synthetic motor oil can last any where from 6 months to a year. Depending on how you drive and other factors. And you can usually go anywhere from 7,500 to 10,000 miles also depending on many factors.
Hello, was the oil percentage 5-20
The manual shows both 5/20 and 5/30. I use 5/30 in the summer and 5/20 in the winter.
Looks easy enough. But is it the same procedure on a 3.3engine? Or does it have the canister oil filter under the hood?
It’s pretty much the same except for the cartridge style filter. It’s located under the car in a filter housing. Let me know how you make out.
How do you reset the oil life?
Put the car in the run position, don’t start it. Then use the buttons on the bottom right of the steering wheel to bring up the service due screen. Then hold down the bottom button till it clears. That’s for a 2015 Kia Sorento. What year is yours? There is different buttons but same idea.
@@MrV2u it’s a 2015, I used the menu looking button but the service menu doesn’t come up, are you able to do a video on it?

Let me know if this explains it better brother. Next time I get a Sorento in I’ll make a video.
@@MrV2u that is an excellent write up, however, on my mother in laws vehicle, no “service required” message comes up
@@nickherbst9500 do you have anything that tells you what’s the life? The service reminder only pops up when the car is due for service. If you go through the menus you should see it there.
Hello, how many liters of engine fat for kia soriento?
5.3 quarts of glorious fat
