I texted Apex Charger with some questions and Michael called me back (from Australia) shortly afterward to provide answers.
I had an enjoyable chat with him.
The MACH II charger will be available by perhaps early next month and it's only about $50 more (on sale for $399.92) than the MACH I (also on sale $348.82).
Those sale prices won't last forever, and even the regular prices are much lower than half of what Tesla charges for the closest similar (but not as good, actually) products.
For example, these have the info displays which (I believe) the Tesla chargers do not. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
The MACH II has a larger display and will also display a subtle light to illuminate the surrounding wall with different colors which tell you at a distance (by their color) what the charging status is.
Totally cosmic, eh?. :)

Excellent video
great video as always thank you
Nice
Great video! Thanks
Thanks for the great video!
I wouldn't recommend mounting that cable holder on drywall. The weight of the cable will put too much torque on the bracket, and crush the drywall underneath over time. I might last a month or so, but you'll be needing a new solution after that. What I did was to attach a piece of 5"x5"x1/2" thick wood into the studs (on top of the drywall) using 3" screws, painted it the color of the wall, then screwed the bracket into that wood. You'll want to round over the edges of the wood a bit before mounting and painting.
Robert now has a way to charge his Tesla when visiting the in-laws !
Smart with RF ID so if apartments want to install this but restrict access and “charge” specific people they can. Sounds like good product.
Thanks for this video. I Bought my 24 Model Y LR in early June and although I’ve had a 240 outlet installed in the garage, I’ve been looking at L2 chargers. This may be the one.
I love all of your videos, so informative. Thank you
Why not just plug in directly to the nena 1450 plug using an adapter? Am I missing something? Thank you
The charger has a NEMA 14-50 plug already so no need for adapter. If you are referring to getting the full 48amp out of it then you'll need to hardwire as NEMA 14-50 only goes as high as 40amp by design.
If you have like a 10-30 NEMA plug and want an adapter for this you could also do that but your charge speed will be limited heavily to like 24amp. Not worth it in my opinion. Also some people seem to think that the laws of physics don't apply to them and will try to charge at like 48amp while using a 30amp breaker which if pushed enough times will result in them damaging their breaker most likely or the adapter/plug.
Just wondering why you don’t do it right (IMO) by going Tesla L2 charger and having it hardwired in? Is it mainly the savings and versatility?
This gives tons more flexibility + unique features Tesla does not have
@@RobertRosenfeld1 What about "quality"? The Mach-E has a thermal management system, but compared to a Tesla's TMS it is inferior. Any comment on this?
@@jkimo1178 Mine has been holding up well since 2nd of March 2024 and i got it setup outside the house. Right now it's over 101-104F during the day in Tucson and i don't seem to have any issues with it. Granted it's not sitting and banking in direct sun light which would have been a silly thing to do regardless of what charger you get. My L1 tesla charger got baked sitting in the sun last summer and i've learned my lesson.
P.s. great video Rob
The nema 14-50 receptacle looks like Leviton. PLEASE 🙏 change it to an Indusrial grade 14-50 receptacle (Hubbell or Bryant)
I’ll take one Rob
Great option for an L2 charger.
My cyber truck came with a charger
Looks nice!
Seriously, check your 14-50 outlet.
Nice
One giant commercial! How much is it?
