I just discovered these guys recently - and instantly became a big fan. Henri is one of the most interesting and promising new guitarists on the scene in many years.
100 yeah me too. not sure how this escaped my radar. this dude is a really cool dude on the exterior with a heavy sounding beast underneath a nice gent skin. very hip. style out of this world. great to see, hear & vibe on 👏 sure hope I get to see sc live 🙏 #blownaway
What a great rundown. Never heard of him or SC. Always up for some new material with real heart. I can dig it. This Cash kid's charming quirkiness and his somewhat punkish ethos and unique playing style tells me he's gonna be around for awhile and I see nothing but success and positive things down the road for him. I wish him all the best. Rock On Henri!
I like that he name drops R.L. and Billy Zoom. His band definitely has that youthful R&R energy that's needed. Excited to hear more from them and their sound to progress.
I've really enjoyed Starcrawler, but I did not expect the depth from this kid. He knows what he likes and makes it work. Freakin' rocks that Digitech Drop pedal!
When I first listened to three Starcrawler vids, I was absolutely blown away...hark, a unique sounding band with a great singer. But that guitarist sealed the deal...the dude can play like no other. I know that's a bold statement, I'll define that Mr. Cash can integrate several styles without one saying I've heard that before. He is someone that guitar players will follow for years to come. Peace...
Great video. Henri rocks - as does Starcrawler - and it’s great hearing him talk about his gear and how he uses it to get his unique sound (the three string in particular). I was in L.A. recently and was fortunate to take in a show at McCabe’s in Santa Monica, at which Henri, his brother Bill and his Dad (and Carla Olson - The Textones) joined the great Peter Case on stage to play some Nerves and Plimsouls songs. It was a real treat to see such a great display of inter-generational musical talent and collaboration.
Goddam Chris it is SO good to see a live Rig Rundown. I'm so glad to see the US getting back to normal. Now if only our leaders in Canada could get their shit together...
Just saw these guys last night without ever having heard of them, they were fucking amazing! This guy is a pretty monstrous player, and he and their singer have ridiculously immaculate stage presence. I'm not sure if I was more impressed by how well they performed or how incredible of a job Henri's guitar tech was doing.
The treble booster he is talking about is from a Gretsch 7632 Corvette Deluxe from 1976, it came in two varieties, either a treble boost or a fuzz and treble boost. Wonderful weird guitars. Fret nibs and a 0 fret, 4-2 tuners and a stunning maple neck with volute. You can see todays reissues of the corvette, they dont do them justice.
Once again, a great guitarist played drums at a young age. This is the key to developing an acute sense of tempo. Play the drums first. An entire world of instruments opens.
👿🔱😈.. Awesome interview.. Love StarCrawler.. Arrow looks so diff that got my attention then I watched Henri play guitar and I loved his energy.. So many guitar players just stand there ( the clapton stance ) and Henri really gets into it... Tell him to check out a Tokai Hummingbird.. Super cool old japanese guitar that Earth tungue play... 🤘
I have one of those old Fender heads. It's beat to hell and the corners are rusted from a long succession of drunken dive and club gigs. Stored it for years and it died. Had a $75 recap job done on it and it just sprang to life. Same groove tubes in it from the 80's. Sounds better now than I remember it. Does the J. Thunders thing. These 60's/70's era Fenders are industructible and techs love the simplicity when working on them and they rock. I put mine through hell, dimed it for every gig and practice and it's still blazing. Couldn't recommend a better starter amp for guitarists who are just starting to gig.
What's wrong with being rich and not having jobs. I'm not rich and have been working since I was 16, my overall impression is that it sucks lol. Not their fault for being fortunate enough to have family already connected to the music biz.
@@SmartStr33t that depends on the style of music you play. Dearmond pickups are great for twang, surf and rockabilly of course. I play cowpunk, hickabilly style so they are perfect for me. The G512? Series had them. They are getting harder to find but they pop up every now and again.
Guitarists like Henri don't come along every day. I'll definitely be following his musical career as long as he has one (which I hope is an extremely long time). He has a natural talent as a showman that really impresses me.
Chambered body with a treble boost...Very close to Brian Mays set up just with no Vox amp...Been listening to Starcrawler since there first album a few years back.👍Henri is a killer player and Arrow is a great singer and performer.🤘
Jacky bam bam of 93.3 WMMR turned me onto this dude, I watched Starcrawlers material on TH-cam, This guy has star material written all over him, Im sure loyalty to Starcrawler is paramount to him at the moment, But if Starcrawler doesn't make it big, I guarantee you this guy is absorbed into an established band thats already made it, I had a dream the night I first watched a bunch of their material that he was the replacement for Mick Mars in Motley Crue !
first thing I noticed when I heard this band pennies I think it was his guitar really stood out for me.. love itits fat as fugg and he seriously exploits it.. I love huis guitar work so many guys today are like oh wow man I just played 2,356 notes in 3 bars man if I finger tapped I could fit 132 more notes in there man which ios no big deal really but all those notes and they never have much to say and most feel like a devils thorn in the shoe.. lol sorry if you're that guy keep on pluck'n one day you'll win the race and will be able to focus on the music.. lol
pedal steel will sound GREAT on pennies! hope there is alive release or something with that version, c'mon throw the dog a bone already... lol perhaps one day I witness it for myself?
This dude kinda rocks. He should check out the band Ammonia. Mid 90’s grunge, had the single “drugs”… “and money, but there’s nothing… I’m gonna do about it”
great marketing for parsons white bat guitar that you cant find for sale anywhere while this guy rocks 3 of them. too bad,,, would have been great opportunity to sell them,,, you know,,, with how he has 3 and all...

Sixty-five year old Starcrawler fan here, Henri's guitar playing is a big reason why.
So funny- I am 62 and stumbled upon Starcrawler a month ago- my favorite band find for 2024!
Great tone and playing from everyone in the band :)
Damn wtf I just discovered this group. This kid is an “old soul.” Love it!
You can't help but love this guy... so relatable, and yet so much spark

Starcrawler is the best new and true rock band I’ve heard in a longggg time
I like that he name drops R.L. and Billy Zoom. His band definitely has that youthful R&R energy that's needed. Excited to hear more from them and their sound to progress.
Henri is incredible!!! Wise beyond his years! There's hope for Guitar R&R!!!!!
If you haven't seen Starcrawler live i urge you to make a big effort. They are awesome! Top 5 of the best bands I have ever seen.
Loving this kid, so enthusiastic about guitars and music.
My favorite new band find for 2024
Saw him yesterday in Berlin. He is a really good performer and knows his sound! Super gig!
👍
Cool dude. Great influences! Continued success for Starcrawler.
Love these kids love their sound and where they draw influences 👍
One of the best Rig Rundowns I’ve seen!
I've really enjoyed Starcrawler, but I did not expect the depth from this kid. He knows what he likes and makes it work. Freakin' rocks that Digitech Drop pedal!
Great rundown. Henri is so fun to watch and listen play. The tones are insane! Can't wait until Strarcrawler gets out live again.
Now I know where to go to get a cool looking new guitar strap. Thanks Henri.

Henri, you are amazing. Rock On!!!
2008 is when "It Might Get Loud" came out. My freshman year of High School. I'm only 28. How are you making me feel so old already?
Reality hurts. Class of 2012 here
Was in college. My musical engineering teacher took half a day of class to pick apart the guitar building scene. God damn...
All the best Henri, from Canada!
Love this dude, he has the MC5 energy!!!
i'm old, but love this kid. refreshing.

Can't wait for Henri to do a solo record
Yes - he needs his own band, imho.
Best episode in months! Loved it
Loved this episode.

This band kicks major ass!

Gotta love rig rundowns.
Love the band, love this guy.

one of the few jammin guitarists out there.
This fella looks so genuine, down to earth and approachable, cool kid, cool rare guitars too
never heard of his band so i checked out the song i love LA. pretty fun stuff and he loves Billy ZOOM!

Hey Henri keep on living the dream.
501st like! This young man is the most original player I have heard for quite a while.
So cool to see someone interested in the sound of real instruments instead of plugging into a amp modeler.
Really, really enjoyed this... He's so real its addictive...
@Joey Maxon yeah i used to be a big fan but i realised the band were a bunch of rich LA kids that never had jobs
What's wrong with being rich and not having jobs. I'm not rich and have been working since I was 16, my overall impression is that it sucks lol. Not their fault for being fortunate enough to have family already connected to the music biz.
That tone is insane. I’m a big Gretsch fan. I like dearmond pickups though. Thanks for this
I just bought a Gretsch, do you recommend changing pick-ups?

Love learning about new bands via Rig Rundown!
Marty Stuart needs an episode btw.
We're not worthy! (We'd love to feature Marty!)
Man I Dig the 3 string guitar and the 3 amps at a time! This kid is the wildest some kind mad genius!
This guy has an awkward charm, like Scott Pilgrim but on guitar
how do you fault a guy who knows what he likes and pursues it. great RR Mr. Cash.
Being able to play this guys three string at Aragon Ballroom is fucking surreal I will never have more fun in my life.
this young man . . .
“O is are soundman” all questions answered there
Incredibly tasteful guitarist

Randy Parsons was my guitar guy a few years back. Sweetheart of a guy

Real Rock and roll band!.... i thought it was a thing of the past?..... until i saw Starcrawler.
He likes Neil Young and the B52s!
Henri's aunt Jody Head is a badass guitar strap designer/maker. They're nice straps.

LOL, he's a bit ham fisted for sure.
Anyone got any idea what combination of pedals he uses for the verses of "good time girl"? I'm guessing the shaker is involved.
first thing I noticed when I heard this band pennies I think it was his guitar really stood out for me.. love itits fat as fugg and he seriously exploits it..

Ask Mike Campbell. You will find your answer there.
great marketing for parsons white bat guitar that you cant find for sale anywhere while this guy rocks 3 of them. too bad,,, would have been great opportunity to sell them,,, you know,,, with how he has 3 and all...
Is he safe in that space?
🔥
What’s the first tune that he riffs? Anyone know?
What kind of Fender amps are those 2 heads? A Showman on top of a Tone Master?
