- Some months ago I've had the wonderful opportunity to play the incredible Jordi Bosch Organ of the Església de Sant Andreu in Santanyí (Spain). This improvised Introduction and Fanfare features the "Ple" - the largest Mixture in the world - and the wonderful Spanish trumpets of this instrument!

A great demonstration of a very unique instrument. The low bass almost sounds like drums or timpani. The reeds are uniquely Spanish. Your improvisations presented the various tonal qualities of the organ quite well. Your videography throughout was superb. I enjoyed this presentation, Paul. Thank you.

You're so welcome Paul! No! Sadly I feel the same! I still wait for answer from the last blood samples! It take a couple of weeks to analyse them! I'm gonna go through a coloscopy on Friday and they gonna take biopsies from my intestines for analyse!

Wonderful playing Paul! That’s quite the mixture! It’s amazing you managed to get so much out of that organ with its odd pedalboard.

That is SOME Mixtur! It is unusual that the stop list is not very big and with the acoustic becomes very sympathetic with the Organ and it quite possibly could be the loudest instrument that I have ever heard! Horizontal Reeds are to die for!

Thank you for watching, Andrew! The Mixture „Ple“ is composed of 25 (!) ranks and uses over 1.100 pipes for this single stop 😀
Thanks Paul great improvisations, I have listened right through a few times to hear all the nuances. Great photography as well.
It made me wonder as to why this organ is such an odd combination of a huge Ple and lots of shouty reeds. This was the abbey church of a rich & powerful monastery & not for use by the general public and its likely the organ was to serve for ceremonies with grand processions. That Ple would do nicely for the accompaniment of solo and choral singing.
A good example of what I mean is Michel Chapuis improvising a Magnificat in A Major with Ekaterina Fedorova-Colin, solo soprano on the Dom Bedos organ at Ste Croix de Bordeaux. This was also an abbey church and organ is tuned to 392 Hz and has a 13 rank mixture and lots of reeds.

Dear Paul; I love your posts and have watched most of them. I'm an organist, too. Have you ever tried the ancient modal patter of shifting between D major chords and C major chords? I'm sure you'll like the effect. Reminds me of ancient Rome. Blessings, Charles in Hollywood, USA.

@@PaulFey I'm sure you'll love the chord changes that I wrote to you about. I got them from Miklos Rozsa. He wrote a lot of music for the movies back in the 50's and 60's. He wrote the music for the movie "King of Kings." He had a wonderful way of using ethnic modes to give an ancient feel and depth to his music. You might like watching that movie. Sincerely, Charles

Vielen Dank! Jaaaa, aber das geht noch VIEL schlimmer - Olivier Latry war 2 Tage vor uns da für ein Konzert, wofür alles noch einmal durchgestimmt wurde. Es wäre interessant wie das Instrument nach 2 oder 3 Monaten klingt 😀
