Shanks got the scar before he was a Yonko though ( as seen in episode 4) so it’s not a fair comparison to say how he progressed to become a top 4 pirate

Every now and then Oda shows us what is happening in the world of One Piece outside of what our crew is doing. He showed you before couple of episodes about Buggy's adventure, He did that too with Koby and Helmeppo, and now with Ace & Blakbeard. While the Strawhats are the main heroes of the story, the world is also moving outside their story.
The true start of all our pain 🫡
this is it. this is the moment that changes everything. the incident that's coming is so damn important and massive that i dare not spoil anything. all i will say is that this one fight between ace and blackbeard will change the world and the era, for good and ill.

Shanks is already a Top 4 pirate at this time, and he had a hard time dealing with Blackbeard so in the previous episode, he warned Whitebeard to prevent Ace from fighting Blackbeard as he is to early to fight him and most probably be outclassed by him.

this is the right episode to watch next, I dont really view OP as seasons even though crunchyroll sorts it that way its been weekly continuous for 20+ years... typically we see stuff from the outside world between and transitioning arcs ... so hyped for more reactions

A lot of older anime, especially shonen, is made assuming that the viewers already read the manga. DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho episode titles were even worse. They straight up told you when a character would die.

The fact that shanks one of the strongest people in the world took damage from Blackbeard is proof Blackbeard is very dangerous. Shanks went out of his way to meet whitebeard who is an enemy just to warn about Blackbeard but he was neglected and the consequences are immense

Title cards don't spoil anything btw. You could have read all of them without being spoiled. The spoiler elitists like to think otherwise, but that is because they have terrible reading comprehension/ don't know how good writing works. Title cards tell you info that you should already know or expect if you had any sort of attention span that isn't solely focused on the fight scenes. This episode is a perfect example of this, the title doesn't tell you straight up what BBs devil fruit is and if you think you could tell just from that title, you are literally just going off of hindsight.

Titles are often massive spoilers to the episode. There is nothing insulting about not wanting to see them. The Japanese can do literally the same thing if they want.

If a title card/spoilers ruin an episode/chapter for you, than you are admitting that Oda is a bad writer. You could spoil so much shit in One Piece and still have so many unexpected things happen simply because not everything is known even in the One Piece universe.
