I would advice growing creeping jenny around your pond get the rocks and stones covered with plants and moss currently it’s a death trap for amphibians that need more moisture. Some form of wood to let animals get out of the pond would be good , painting yogurt on the rocks will encourage moss to establish. , love your garden , hope to see it developed over time .

Your input on the pond is much appreciated, it’s still very new and settling in. Going forward I may well use some of your ideas. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Hi. Regarding the Fatsia Greenfingers. I was told
By a nursery owner that Greenfingers was the name given commercially for a Edward Needham Polycarpa that was put through tissue culture
The Needham form is grown from seed so it’s possible for it to have natural variation between plants. Greenfingers
Being cloned should all look like the original plant it was
    Cultured from.

Where the tree ferns grow in Tasmania and Victorian highlands they can get up to 12 feet of rain a year!.. This can be an issue in the UK as even in S Wale's we get about 4 feet of rain.

Wow, thanks for those figures I didn’t realise they got that much rain. No wonder I have to give supplementary watering in Norfolk, that is one of the driest areas of the UK!

It's a bit of a headache isn't it. I've got a mister on mine with a timer, but they don't get much from it, it just helps.
