Nice work man. I just started mold making and it's quite a bit of fun. Made my first mold when I did my Chewbacca mask. Keep up the good work dude. Got a subscriber out of me👍
I would suggest Smooth-On's Dragonskin 10 silicone for moulds like this. It's a lot softer and stretchier, which makes it easier to remove from a cast when the mould is a little thicker. Also ditch the mould keys. If you make the mother mould well they're unnecessary, and when the mould starts to wear out, the keys start to cause small indentations in the cast. Nice job overall though!
I started to do fiber glass mold's instead of 3d printing the models every time, next mold Will be silicone made like yours. Whats the material of the "concrete part" over the silicone mold?
Question for you! Was one kit of the free form epoxy dough enough to make the shell for the mother mold? I made one out of plaster and it doesn't really seem to be holding anything in place properly
What are you using to cut the visor holes out. Would love to see a video. Always takes me forever. I'm thinking if trying different Dremel bits or an oscillating tool.
Eric Print thank you for the fast response man I appreciate it ! Where do you buy yours at I see it on Amazon but wasn’t sure if you know a better place
If done right no layer lines to smooth out, to make a finished helmet it could take 3 hours vs the days of printing separate pieces, and no worry of the print busting loose off the print bed
Learned everything from the greats Impact Props, TheCraftsman, and The Galactic Armory and learning from trial and error it all makes sense once you apply yourself to a project you genuinely care about.
I know it’s a little late but I have a 330x300x400 and it’s the Tronxy X5SA, got mine off aliexpress for $230 and it’s an amazing printer for that cheap of a price
If you're asking how long to cast a helmet I'd say max 2 to 3 hours because you're adding epoxy resin in layers and have to let them cure for 15 or 20 minutes
This was not printed in one go I printed the bottom half first on my cr 10 and the rest on my ender 3 to save time the size I printed at was 94% from the file I used
Good video man. Your production was really simple and to the point, with some good tips sprinkled throughout. I’m going to try it soon :)

I think I saw that on Facebook am I right?
@@ericprint3576 haha, I bet you did. I posted it in a few of the groups 👍

I've always wanted to use the flexible smooth cast 65d ever since I saw the Ironman helmet drop test from smooth cast
Nicely done
I want my helmet line minute 0:37 but i dont know what i need can you write it please
Good video, best of luck to your business!
What are the material costs for something like this?
Did you use mold release before the silicone?
Hey man, videos was great. Im thinking in doing my on mold and cast.
How many bottles of rebound 25 you would recommend for a good mold?
I started to do fiber glass mold's instead of 3d printing the models every time, next mold Will be silicone made like yours. Whats the material of the "concrete part" over the silicone mold?
Free form air epoxy dough
Question for you! Was one kit of the free form epoxy dough enough to make the shell for the mother mold? I made one out of plaster and it doesn't really seem to be holding anything in place properly
It can however it would be very thin I recommend two it's usually worth the investment in terms of how many problems you avoid doing so.
Hey man, I was just wondering if I need to spray the silicone lubricant in the mold before I cast a helmet?
It's recommended but I usually don't however it's been a while since I tested the stuff
After the 3d print what is that what i need
What are you using to cut the visor holes out. Would love to see a video. Always takes me forever. I'm thinking if trying different Dremel bits or an oscillating tool.
Hey man, how many ounces of silicone do you use per layer?
Hey man are those to smaller bottles of the rebound 25 stuff enough to make a mold like this
I used 2 full bottles of the small jars and any leftovers I had. Technically you might be able to make a mold but it would be a flimsy mold.
Eric Print thank you for the fast response man I appreciate it ! Where do you buy yours at I see it on Amazon but wasn’t sure if you know a better place
I buy from Amazon since it's convenient but I haven't tried other places so I'm not sure there.
Eric Print ok thank you man I appreciate it 🙏🏽
what kind of primer that you use ? i use rustoleum ..its got inhibit with my platinum base silicone tho
Simple Rustoleum 2 in 1 filler primer
Whats the benefits of this instead of Just 3d Print it?

Where did you learn to cast? I want to make a phase 1 and phase 2 cast but don’t know the first thing about casting 😂

@@ericprint3576looks incredible man! By any chance do you have a list of materials? I wanna give it a try with a few different helms!
hey, question, what is the dimension of your 3d printer? because mine is like 240x240x 400 something. and how did you print it?
I know it’s a little late but I have a 330x300x400 and it’s the Tronxy X5SA, got mine off aliexpress for $230 and it’s an amazing printer for that cheap of a price
How'd the printed helmet on its own compared to the molded one stand up?
Both aren't flimsy the cast helmet only takes a couple hours to make and finish where as 3d printed takes weeks to print, smooth, and paint
@@ericprint3576 So if you were to do it for production, obviously cast. How long did the cast preparation take outside of the what the video shows?
If you're asking how long to cast a helmet I'd say max 2 to 3 hours because you're adding epoxy resin in layers and have to let them cure for 15 or 20 minutes
Hey man i see you printed the helmet in one go. what size printer do you have? i have a cr10 and want to print a wearable helmet in one piece
This was not printed in one go I printed the bottom half first on my cr 10 and the rest on my ender 3 to save time the size I printed at was 94% from the file I used
@@ericprint3576 oh got it👍 I cant stand gluing parts together but might have to just bite the bullet and do it
