On November the 24th 2023, I headed to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park for an epic 16-day overlanding adventure, which would see me visit all three main camps, starting at Twee Rivieren. In Episode one of the Kgalagadi Trip 2023 series, I drive from Hoedspruit to Pretoria, stop at Outdoorphoto to pick up some rental camera gear, and then head through to Upington where I bought fresh groceries.
I arrived in the Kgalagadi on the 26th of November and made sure to be at Twee Rivieren nice and early in order to get a good campsite with plenty of shade, especially considering that we were in the middle of a heat wave!
Despite the heat, I had an amazing first couple of days in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, seeing one of the best cheetah sightings I've ever had in the Kalahari.

And the wait is over🙌 really loved the episode and seeing the beauty of the Kgalagadi, can’t wait for the next one now.
A big thanks again for the interest and support of our footwear too. Makes for a great partnership
The pleasure is all mine! 😁
Enjoyed the “nuts and bolts” of the journey as much as the cats. Brings back many memories. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks Rob 🙏🏻 I’m glad you enjoyed it 😁
Reading about Hanri at the moment in Gus Mills book.
That was lovely I feel like I've had a little holiday! Thanks V.
Loved hearing the woodlands kingfisher at the start of the video. Oh how I miss home. Great video!
Wonderful video! Looking forward to the next one.
Great way to kick off Villiers! Cants wait to see the rest!
Love it, Villiers.... As a Saffer, sitting in dreary, wet, windy weather in the UK, I really enjoy vicariously experiencing this trip with you.
Keep it up!
Your production, filming quality, photos, etc, are top notch.
Thank you so much! I make these videos for you…! 😎☀️
Fantastic video, plenty of beautiful footage. I can't wait to see more. Also I enjoy photos from a national park instead of private game reserves - it feels more attainable for regular tourist. Thank you!
Thanks so much 🙏🏻😎
Excellent video Villiers! Really felt like I was there for 20 minutes! Look forward to the next one!
Thanks a mil, Mark! 🙏🏻 That’s the feeling I was hoping to evoke… 😮💨
I saw her in the same area during morning golden light in February, she's a stunning cat. I was following some distant lions and suddenly she appeared on my side mirror. She even walked across to give me some stunning back lit shots in the very first rays of sunlight
Loved this, transported me right back to that wonderful place 😊
Awesome episode Villiers, can’t wait to see the rest!
Awesome video Villiers, those baby Ostriches were really something. As were the Cheetah, Gemsbok and Springbok sightings. So interesting and informative, thank you.
The pleasure is all mine, Annette!
Lovely light on the Hunting Cheetah
Missed the opening song, absolutely love it. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, looking for the rest of the videos.
0:56 Really enjoyed this video. The Kalagadi is definitely on my bucket list- especially since we are now geared up for camping with our Stealth bakkiemate!
Thanks Jane. You MUST go!!! You’ll have such a great time there 😁 Please shout if you ever have any questions about the Kgalagadi - you have my number 🙂
Awesome Villiers . Thanks for taking us away from the "rat-race" for a while and show us what real life is about.
Looking forward to the rest of the series!!! 🐾🐾
My man ----- you haven't seen it all ----we are in the RIEMVASMAAK in the lower half of the Kalahari ----- the rugged terrain and Wild beauty is something to behold ---- no other semi ared area comes close
Thank you for yet another stunning video. My youngest daughter is a huge fan and has watched every video on your channel. She is such a big fan that she had me make videos of our trips to the Kruger National Park. Seeing as my channel is all about carp fishing we are still in the learning stage of making wildlife videos as well. You are a big inspiration to both of us. Keep up the good work. CAN'T WAIT for the rest of this series.
The pleasure is all mine. It’s for people like you and your daughter that I make these videos 😁 Good luck filming the wildlife and best of luck for your own channel as well 🍀
Loved it! Brings back so many memories of my one and only trip to KTP. Really enjoyed all the detail.
I’m glad, Eleanor!
Epic Cheetah sighting! Can't wait for the rest of the series 👏
We are in Kgalagadi for 6 weeks come April /May before the Frosts

Great video. Kgalagadi must be one of my favorite places on earth. Watching your video gets me so amped for the next trip.
Fantastic video and perfect timing. I'm starting to plan my first trip into Kgalagadi.
I hope my videos help 😉
Great video Villiers! We look forward to the next one. 😁
Really enjoyed this! Can tell a lot of thought and planning went into it and it’s a great watch as a result 👌🏼
Inspiring me to start planning a trip there myself soon! Looking forward to the rest of the series 💯
Thanks Byron 🙏🏻 You would LOVE it there!! Shout if you every have questions about planning a trip to KTP - proper planning can be the difference between an epic and a rough trip there 😛 Looking forward to what you post next…

Fantastic....waiting for the entire series
wow , cannot believe that I left the park yesterday, have driven to Cape town and am watching your video already...( whilst downloading my pics) ..Twee Rivieren remains a good base for photography....great video as usual
😂 That’s awesome, Erwin! That place does that to a man… I hope you had a great time with some epic photographic opportunities!?
Epic video Villiers 😎😃
Thanks so much! 🙏🏻😎
I've been eagerly waiting for this episode since following along on IG :) Absolutely stunning, thanks Villiers! Gosh, that Cheetah! So looking forward to the next episode! All the best for 2024 :)
Thank you so much 🙏🏻🙂
Fantastic video as always. Very informative, great commentary and excellent video and photo footage. Sien uit na die volgende episodes. Dink nie my naam wys by my comment nie. Groete uit die Kaap. Mariëtte
Hi Villiers, firstly, in November, you don't have to be in the park at sparrows to nab a good campsite. There are always loads when it is so hot...... 😂 why didn't you use the R7 in thisxrpidode? I have just upgraded to it and hoping I haven't made a mistake 😅. Looking forward to the next episode.
Great video, and funny intro (your different names 😉) - May I ask you about your setting while filming the female cheetah at golden hour: did you focused manually or did you use auto focus and if yes, which one? Thanks in advance 👍🏾
Haha, glad you enjoyed it 😉 I used autofocus both for the video and photos, with animal eye-tracking in AI Servo mode on the Canon R6. Cheers, Philly Osdean
Thank you very much 👍🏾, "Philly" 😅
Great video, can you tell me the style and make of your sunglasses?
They’re a cheap pair of polarised Bourbons I picked up at the local hardware store 😎 I never buy expensive sunglasses, because I always end up sitting on them 🙈
Great video Villiers! Just a question, why do you use the Bluetti if there is power at Tweerivieren?
What is the name of your lens stabilizer bag and where can I buy it? Thanks
This is a badger bag that I bought from Outdoorphoto in Pretoria East
