1967-1972 Chevy Truck C10 Outer Rocker Install (Part 3 of 4)
The goal of this series on the Chevy Truck metal working is to help walk folks through the thought process which is usually passed by when people just show what they are doing. First and foremost I wanted to provide my experience and knowledge to those who could benefit from it. Showing people bits and pieces of work like this is not nearly as helpful as a step by step walk through. If you are looking for the quick and dirty, you probably wont find what you're looking for here. However if you are looking for the small details, thoughts and mistakes of yours truly; You are in the right place.
My truck was completely rusted out, the bottom ~8 inches or so of the cab. After extensive research and not having much metal working experience I decided there was only one way to learn....
As you can see from my channel banner I have quite a bit of experience in boat restoration (wood & fiberglass) but I relished the pictures of my grandfathers c10 and decided that would be my next project. I waited for over a year to buy this truck and knew I was between a 69 or a 70.
Ultimately I would like this channel to gain a large subscription base and that would allow me to re-invest any gains back into the channel for the viewers. I am comfortable with my life and am not looking to get rich. Gains vested back into the channel would help me continue on projects and keep dedicating time to this.
The only other full series on cab metal work that is a DVD that is SOLD by a user for roughly $100 and there are a lot of details and thought processes skipped. If you gained anything from these videos I would greatly appreciate a 'subscription' and a 'like'. After all, its free and your alternative for the only other option (this detailed) is around $100.

The craftsmanship that you preform on your cab is pretty amazing to me. While my truck doesn't need any of this work (it was restored 10+ years ago before I bought it) these videos are very interesting to watch! Even if my truck needed this kind of work, no way could I even think of doing this stuff LOL! Downside of watching all this is seeing how lines are not perfect on my truck .... oh well it least there is not any rust on my truck ha!

Great video, what should the distance be from the bottom of the hinge and the top of the rocker? Also, what distance do you have from pillar to pillar? I

Thanks for your support. You have to be careful with measuring from the hinge because there is a lot of adjustment in the hinge. The center of the lower hinge hole to the top outer edge of the rocker where the door gap is ~6” on my cab. From that same center of Bolt hole To the b pillar right above the rocker seam is 38 7/8 inches. Keep in mind that the measurements on all tabs will be slightly different. It would be better to go on the Facebook group and post a picture of the exact location you want the measurement between.
