Bryan Gold I hear this. I don’t know if god is real. What kind of god can make this and let us loose destroying everything and kill each other in his name? Treating fellow humans like dirt. Killing and taking what we want. Where is all powerful god? We need god to be here now to take care of the wicked people.

lookronjon the Devil is at work, and this is what makes ppl think there is NO GOD. God is most definitely real and I have the upmost faith. If you believe, you will eventually hear him speak to you, I can promise you that.

That connection with the African continent, it's absolutely true. I was born and raised in Africa. I left for the US for college. When I came back after 7years... That "I feel at home" thing just struck me like lightning. Touching the African ground gave me chills and I felt warm inside.

That is definitely a great attitude to have towards improving upon your physical mental health conditioning. I would like to know how long you have been consistent with going to the gym what type of exercises you are doing. Equally as important if not more if you are getting high sources of nutrition clean water equal to spring. One thing I have learned there is many people that are depressed and don't have the physical capabilities to exercise. So high sources of nutrition are the next best thing to exercise. However if you can do both will then you would be taking a quantum leap in progress compared to someone who is unable to exercise effectively. Then again many people have improved their health a great deal just by proper breathing techniques meditating.

@@BabyLoloify In Upstate NY, I know of plenty of places where you go if you're interested! My biggest piece of advice of someone who is new to therapy is to remember that when you go doe the 1st time remember there's an interview that's happening for you also...YOU NEED to be comfortable with the person who you're going to be talking to!! Clinics are a good start point BUT often they have a higher turnover rate so ASK ???s, How long have been here? Or my best scenario honestly is to find a therapist or counselor who is in practice or private owns their own independent practice so that you can be sure that you can establish a relationship with him/her & they won't leave as you begun to establish TRUST, tell your story, ect. From my experience this is the biggest challenge for many people that have started to get help. They find someone they like, tell their stories, open up and become vulnerable and then the person comes in and says "I am leaving so I am transferring you to someone else". This turns people off and causes them to shut down...I try to tell folks that I work with that we are going to work on TOOLS that you can put in your "box" to use when you need them, because the big goal is to help guide you through the process and give you coping skills...."My job is to eventually work myself out of a job"! That's what I say, just my personal take/method as I think about it as being able to help build confidence to independent, EVENTUALLY!! Hope that helps!! Every city also has Lifeline, most cities also have 211 or 311 where you can call and get information about how to get help with getting started in seeing someone!!!
Instilling HOPE is our job and Congratulations on taking the 1st step, most important 1 of them ALL, asking for help!! 😉❣🙏

I am generally not a fan of Charlamange, but I really appreciate him discussing the subject of mental health, especially as it relates to the black community's reluctance, in general, to seek and embrace mental health treatment. As a black gay man who grew up in an oppressive household and a predominantly white environment, I never felt comfortable in my own skin, ever. I struggle with my identity every single day and I don't feel comfortable with black, white or gay people and that level of identity crisis leads to constant depression, anxiety, rage and regret. Fortunately, I've never felt suicidal or acted out violently in any way, but I've also never been happy or fulfilled at any point in my life. It's a terrible thing to be content to live a miserable life. I've known for years that I need therapy, but the 'strong black man' act is the roll I was conditioned to play has kept me from pursuing it. Also, I can't really afford it, but I know I have to figure out a way to get it. I've already wasted half my life being consumed with negative emotions, I don't want to waste the next half in the same way.

My mom side 40% chippewa, my daddy 59% Blackfoot.. I'm 12% African.. I just.. I really don't know how to feel anymore because school never teaches you much truth...
In the black community, me getting my degree in Forensic Psychology I was looked at as weird, "Nobody is going to come to you in THIS COMMUNITY."
A black family believes it's a weakness to have mental illness or, it just doesn't exist and it's just "CRAZY UNCLE /AUNTIE acting out." I'm so happy that we are talking about it...

I guess the applauds were worth waiting for towards the end of the interview. I APPLAUD you both.

I find you an absolutely fascinating man. You talked about trauma and pain, as a white woman growing up in a white neighborhood I felt I had to hide the abuse I endured from my family because it wasn’t something my friends could relate to. I was in therapy by junior year in High school and I was ashamed of it then. When we talk about these things then we can come together as people sharing the human experience.
