    You know that you have discovered Real talent when the original song writer or artist gives this band their highest complement. "Hallelujah" composer heard PTX version and he said it was the best version he heard before he passed away. Same with "Bohemian Rhapsody" when Brian May of Queen gave his approval. Their "Evolution of" series are outstanding. While Michael Jackson can't respond, Arianna Grande enjoyed her evolution and Queen B (Beyonce) posted their evolution of her to her own Instagram account a few hours after it premiered.

      WHAT??? Leonard Cohen said that??? Please, do you have a link or something? I've never heard this, and this thrills me!

    • @liz7694
      @liz7694 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is actually a rumor, the only evidence that Cohen ever saw the song was because Scott said in an interview that he said he didn’t want his poetry changed, as they’d made the lyrics more Christmas-y, cohen was actually very very sick when this song was being made and died only shortly after it was released without the Christmas lyrics.

    Good luck burning through 10 years worth of content 😜 I have yet to hear a rendition from them I dislike, that's without mentioning solo work, Superfruit (Mitch and Scot), and colabs. There are a few that use instruments but you will see it featured as they will never hide it. If you want a good idea on background let us know, we pentaholics will fill you in 😀

      "Man of Constant Sorrow" is the perfect first reaction song. 😊

    I’ve been a pentaholic sense 2011and I joined your reaction channel last year. Ok Daft Punk the studio they were going to use canceled at the last moment. So they used an iPad, Ive and Kevin’s closet/kitchen budget of $400. First of three Grammy’s. The Grammy committee had to create a category for pentatonix. The next Grammy was Dance of the sugar plum fairy followed by Jolene with Dolly Parton. Have fun. My favorite original song is love again and Sing.
    My favorite cover songs. Can’t hold us and radioactive. I’m so happy you are doing pentatonix

    They did this video in an apartment on a $600 budget and won their first Grammy award for it . You would be blown away by their incredible covers of Sound of Silence and Bohemian Rhapsody. Home Free is also a phenomenal Acapella group. They sing different genres of songs very well, but are rooted in a country flavor. Man of Constant Sorrow is a good place to start with them, and you'll soon become a Home Free fan, a 'Home Fry". Pentatonix's fans are called Pentaholics.

    Pentatonix is an amazing group. All talented in their own right. DAFT Punk is a great song. There are so many songs of Pentatonix to choose to react too. I hope, with all that's going on in the world, you select the song composed by John Lennon/Yoko Ono, "IMAGINE," by Pentatonix to react to next. It was released in the US in 1971. It definitely has a message for you to share with your 33k+ subscribers that can bring about mindset change, 50 years later. It's as relevant in 2021 (or more so) as it was in 1971. Thanks for the reaction to Daft Punk. It was fun watching you have fun singing along and dancing, a bit.

    The thing that amazes me is how NO reactors mention Avi’s overtone and whistle-note vocalizations (listen to the last 16 bars of Kirstie’s solo), or Kevin’s “snare drum” rim shots at the end! These two things alone are Grammy-worthy. The piece was recorded in Avi’s and Kevin’s closet and the video was done in their kitchen! All for $400 for the basics (editing costs added to it, but compared to videos by the superstars, this is chump change!) Oh, and they won their first Grammy with this!

    I enjoyed your reaction and just subbed. If you liked this "medley" of Daft Punk Songs, try their "90's Dance Medley". They do many medleys and "evolution of" songs that showcase a specific singer's singing journey. Thank you for appreciating them. You have probably already been told this, but if you look at a new picture of Kevin Olusola, their beat boxer, you will see you and he have the same hair style. Many people have commented how you look like him. That is the only thing I see in common.

    Pentatonix is pretty unique. Their selections on TH-cam alone will keep you busy the next few years. A 'countrified' version of them would be Home Free. Voice Play doesn't have as many to chose from but are pretty unique too. Voctave does a lot of good stuff. And all of them are a Capella. Good reaction.

    Yeah!! PTX ... all of it! React to all of it!! It’s all amazing! Love it. I really want you to fall down this rabbit hole. I think you’d enjoy it and I would enjoy it as well. For a different side of PTX, check out “say something”. Kirstie takes the lead and Kevin (beatboxer) plays the cello WHILE beatboxing - he created it and it’s called cello-boxing. And he’s a master. And Kirstie is phenomenal in it. The others are as well but she really shines in it.

  • @stormdancer0
    @stormdancer0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Other equally talented (though in different areas of music) a capella groups are:
    Home Free, who mainly sings country, but did GREAT covers of The End of the Road, All About that Bass, and The Butts Remix. And their Sea Shanty Medley is gorgeous. Some of their better country style songs are Hillbilly Bone, Man of Constant Sorrow, and In The Blood. Their bass, Tim Foust, hits Dragon-deep notes at the end of Misty Mountains, his independent duet with Peter Hollins. Those two have some beautiful music out there.
    and the other group is Voice Play - they really get into their songs, complete with costumes, acting, voice play (of course), and Disney songs. They have a Vikings Shanty called My Mother Told Me; the Oogie Boogie Song from Nightmare Before Christmas; and their bass, Geoff Castalucci, has several that are excellent, such as the Headless Horseman, and 16 Tons.

    I like unique as well. My suggestion- Tim Minchin. An Australian but he lived in London for several years and in Los Angeles as well as Perth and Sydney where he is now. Multi talented, singer-songwriter and actor who plays piano and occasionally guitar. Comedy songs are what he is known for in the U.K. His show is edgy and for adults but he also did the music and lyrics for both the "Matilda" and "Groundhog Day" musicals on the West End and Broadway and played his comedy show rockstar parody character on the 6th season of Californication, Atticus Fetch.
    "Prejudice" people start with alot or "Inflatable You". "Carry You" is a fairly recent song he wrote for the Australian TV series "Upright". "Leaving L.A." and "Airport Piano" are on his current studio album or if you want old school dramatic he is Judas in the Jesus Christ Superstar Live Arena Tour. "Heaven on Their Minds" is a good one for that.
    Currently touring in the U.K. through the beginning of November.

    I only made a cursory check through the comments. I may have already commented also I just can't remember. This video was done on a $400 budget. Filmed in the kitchen. Recorded in the closet. And they won a Grammy for it. Their second Grammy is for dance of the sugar plum fairy which I highly recommend specially since Christmas is coming. Also for Christmas I Recommend Mary did you know. You'll hear what is known as the wall of found. This is why I recommend reacting to imagine. If you thought there were harmonies in hallelujah Just be prepared. And mansion is such a powerful song and the way that they Deliver it's message keeps it very fresh and extremely powerful. Bohemian rhapsody is also good. If for some reason you haven't seen the official video of bohemian rhapsody by queen you'll want to watch it 1st otherwise it makes no sense. Please keep the Pentatonix reactions coming and We pentaholics, the fans of Pentatonix, we'll keep subscribing to you.

They are not as big as Pentatonix, but and amazing expirience even if they are more a cover Band. A song I would recomend from Van Canto, would be The Bard's Sond-In the Forest ( Blind Gurdian cover) or Rebellion ( Grave Digger Cover)

    The trio are brilliant...but for me it's the Rhythm section Avi & Kevin who keeps it pulsating along.... They got their first Emmy for this...having run out of money they filmed it in Avi & Kevin's apartment it was filmed with each member sitting in a closet with ring lighting and a black curtain. also in the kitchen lol The Editing was amazing...but I've seen them sing this live and you can't fault them.

    Great group, glad you enjoyed them. Funny thing is I first saw them on Sesame Street (kids).
    I don’t know how you feel about 90’s rap music (lyrics can get pretty explicit) but if you haven’t listened some of the early music of Nelly, I highly recommend. Or salt n pepa Shoop .. we listened to this as kids and some of us understood but our parents didn’t grasp the lyrics..

    Be aware. If you view videos from before 2017, you’ll see AVI KAPLAN (white, with long dark hair), singing bass. Avi left the group for personal reasons at the end of 2017. A great singer, Matt Sallee, now sings bass. That’s the ONLY personnel change. In particular, Kirstin (or “Kirstie”, rhymes with thirsty) and Mitch (first singer here, with a higher-than-usual voice for a man (he’s a counter-tenor) change their look A LOT. Hair styles and colors, clothes, etc. Mitch also lost weight along the way. Your may think there have been more personnel changes, but in the 10 years of the group’s existence, Avi leaving and Matt coming on are the only changes. They’ve won 3 Grammys, have millions of views on TH-cam, have sold-out tours, and sold millions of records. The arrangement for this Daft Punk medley actually won them their first Grammy. All of this adds up to Pentatonix being the most successful acapella group in history. I’ve seen them twice live now, and they sound exactly the same. Watch the LIVE version of “Hallelujah” from a Christmas special, and compare it to the recorded song and video (with 695 MILLION VIEWS). THEY SOUND THE SAME. Also, when the bass is singing a solo (Avi, and later on, Matt) Scott Hoying (tall blonde baritone) sings the bass line. He has an enormous range. We Pentatonix fans call ourselves “PENTAHOLICS”!

    Do you know the movie Wizard of Oz? Have you seen it? If you have, I recommend their performance with Todrick Hall called the Wizard of Ah's. The other songs you absolutely have to review to make me happy is - Amazing Grace, Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sing and Carol of the Bells or Mary did you know. Thanks

    Please react to Disturbed, The Sound Of Silence. It's something that just seemed to happen that was FAR outside of their normal sound, and cough MANY people off guard. Also many people find it to be the best rendition of the song. I really think it showcases the power some metal band have to not just "do what they do" that they can break that stereotype, and do far more than some think.

    Pentatonix is top of the line, but close on is another The Sing Off! alumnus, Home Free (won season 4, PTX won season 3). Check out Home Free's Man of Constant Sorrow, Helplessly Hoping, End of the Road.
