    You should try this again but, run the same amount of fuel on both sets ups. The car is heavier on one set up. You are using 40 times more fuel in the default setting.

      40 times more?
      1st car 19*40=760 liters
      2nd car 25*40=1000 liters Lol
      ... ok I stop.
      Take for example the 1st test: we have a difference of just 40 kg on a 1500kg car. So are you telling me that 40 kg justify a difference of 1,7 seconds per lap on a heavy car?
      Plus, considering I have more experience on the 2nd attempt with the heavier stock setup car because I know better the track and the car reactions, I'm still slower.
      Take the 3rd test: just a little more than 20kg, and 7 seconds (let's say 3 seconds without the mistake) thanks to a setup that makes my car more driveable. And do you think 20kg justify 3 seconds per lap?
      Sometimes I have the impression 50% of things I write on my videos are just ignored... or simply, some people watch them in a superficial way.

    You CANNOT compare 2 setups like this when they have such a big fuel difference! According to Mclaren and the Royal Academy of Engineering 1kg of fuel is around 0.03s of laptime. Now if we say 1L of fuel is 1Kg (it is not, but cant be bothered to find the right number) The difference in fuel from you laptimes are 1.386s. That leaves 0.3s left from your costum settup and the default. Which can easily be a bad lap etc. So make this again but dont have such a big fuel difference.

      +Stian Johansen I don't deny your reasoning. 100% correct. But considering:
      1- There are more probabilities to do a faster lap in a 2nd attempt because you know better the corners, the braking zones and the car reactions.
      2- You use the *2nd* attempt with _default_ settings and the *1st* attempt with _personal_ settings,
      3- With default setup the car is harder to drive and to push it to the limit without mistakes (the fuel charge affects slighty the speed but it doesn't affect the driveability in this game),
      4- With the Mercedes and the Mazda the tank level difference wasn't too important,
      5- When I say _default_ setup I don't change anything otherwise we can't consider it as "default",
      6- Many players in this game don't change the setup and race with default one, risulting in a handicap during the race,
      in my opinion this video is useful. The point was to show how important is to change correctly the setup (including the fuel in the tank of course, but not only this feature), and to give a little help especially for those who have little eperience on setup. Of course with the *same rules*, but with same fuel level too for custom and default, the gap would be lower (as you suggest), but the custom will be always the best setup for these cars, in any case.

    This just proves that I really need to learn how to tune my cars in games, it'd probably help my racing times tremendously. But at the same time, I just don't have the patience to go and tweak everything all the time, for different tracks, conditions, etc. I go look at the overwhelming settings you can tweak on Forza, Project Cars, DiRT, F1, etc, and just nope out of there. Maybe I'll just stick to my NFS games.

    I haven't commented in a while but it's always a pleasure to watch your content. But maybe you could try to position the screens differently as i have to go back and watch to see precisely what is happening on each run. Love the idea though. Keep it up viper!

    this a good idea, but perhaps putting apex speed comparison will illustrate your point better, or calculating a average lap time for ten laps with and without setup?

      +viperconcept Thank GOD and you for that tune-up. i've tried almost evrything with the RT-12 and no matter what i did with it it always ended in al most hilarious over-steer. That tune definitely helped. Thank you ;DDD

    Can you make a video about how to use the tyre info we get from the game while driving and use that info for making a better setup? Thing like weight pressure on each tyre when cornering or tyre temp while cornering? I see all does info but how do you use it when you are test driving with a new setup?

      Do you mean changing the game HUD while you're driving? You go to menu button settings of the game and you assign a button to change HUD while racing. It's called "cycle HUD display".

    Stupid question: how do you set up a car differently than the default setup BEFORE even testing the car on track? Do you just tweak the sliders and hope for the best? Or do you actally know the car handling and you are just trying the default setup for a specific race track that you don't know? Love the channel. I don't even have a wheel set up but I enjoy my breakfasts watching your competitions, I'd love to compete with you guys someday.

      Experience and logic: you read the car specs (traction, weight, balance, wheel-base, etc...), the track specs (fast/slow corners, straights, track surface...) and you have already a little idea how your car would react, so you know already how to set up. But in many cases a little test is necessary to understand what you have to set up.

    hey viper you joined my lobby lastnight, was just practising lol I still haven't started configuring my set-ups, gt on ps2 was awesome and this kind of reminds me of that game but the set-ups are so fine I can't quiet get a grasp on it

    From your setup videos and epic lessons there are alot of stuff that can cause oversteer amd understeer. How do i know which to tweak first?
    LSD, swaybar, springs, gear ratio?
    I was able to improve my lap times with your lessons but im still trying to fogure it out.
    If anyone can give advice, much appreciated!

      If you want an *easier* car to drive, yes.
      But of course, tons of downforce make you slower on some tracks like Monza...

    When using your foot petals (gas,break,clutch) is there a difference in the acceleration/break then with a regular Xbox controller? I feel with the variable throttle on the controller there is a dead spot for a couple of cm before there is actually a throttle response.
    Is it possible to adjust that? I've went through a bunch of different setting but could not find which one controls/gets rid of the gap for when you are accelerating.

      In some racing games like Gran Turismo you can't do that.
      Other racing games like Project CARS and Assetto Corsa you can adjust the sentivity and the dead spot in both controller and steering wheel.

    Ciao Viper :) innanzitutto complimenti per il canale, i tuoi video sono ottimi! Gioco a Project su ps4 da un paio di mesi, ma non riesco a guidare nessuna vettura del parco auto. Premetto che gioco con il pad (non posso permettermi un volante al momento), questo é il mio primo "vero" simulatore e ho disabilitato la maggior parte degli aiuti, per un'esperienza piú realistica... Hai qualche consiglio da darmi?
    P.s.: attendo con ansia il prossimo video :P

      +Jacopo Carboni “Corto” grazie! Tieni presente che ad aiuti disattivati questo gioco é molto difficile col pad. Per cominciare prova i setup di questo video (metti pausa e ricopiali). Se non hai visto le mie "Epic Lessons" su Project Cars, ti consiglio di darci un'occhiata: la guidabilità dell'auto dipende dalla sua messa a punto. ;)

      +viperconcept ho già visto le Epic Lessons e mi hanno aiutato parecchio, più che altro mi hanno fatto scoprire come funziona la macchina e cosa succede sotto al cofano quando guido (dal momento che sono un po' ignorante in materia). Mi consigli l'acquisto di un thrustmaster t100 per iniziare? È decisamente più abbordabile del g29...

      +Jacopo Carboni “Corto” Anche se non l'ho mai provato, si, é un buon volante per iniziare: ho sentito molta gente che lo elogia per il suo rapporto qualità prezzo. Per 20€ in meno c'é il T80: non ha il feedback ma puoi regolare la sensibilità. Per 60€ in più hai il primo volante "serio": il T150.

    (Mi pare di aver capito che l'italiano lo sai, quindi non mi scomodo a parlare inglese visto che la mia domanda non riguarda il video in sé, ma per lo più le tue conoscenze nel campo della simulazione automobilistica)
    Le due schermate a confronto ricordano quella tipologia di video in cui si fa una comparazione grafica di vari giochi... di seguito la domanda, poco attinente, che mi è venuta in mente: Hai provato Forza Motorsport 6? Se "sì": come lo trovi rispetto a Project cars per quanto riguarda la fisica, l'audio e la grafica? Lo chiedo a te perché dai tuoi video sembri esperto del genere, e mi interessava sapere una tua opinione, se possibile.
    Chiedo scusa se ho sintetizzato poco; in ogni caso ottimi video, continua così!

      +TheKarmaBox Ho provato il 5 e non so quanto si discosti dal 6, penso poco. Graficamente niente da dire, cosi' come l'audio. Sulla fisica di Forza sono rimasto un po' perplesso, anche avendolo provato col pad: gli spostamenti di peso sono ben riprodotti ma c' é un po' di effetto "saponetta": l'auto tende a scivolare più del dovuto in curva. Rispetto a Project CARS, Forza mi sembra un titolo più accessibile, anche perché pCARS é davvero troppo difficile col pad soprattutto ad aiuti disattivati. Riguardo a contenuti Forza 6 batte tutti i giochi di guida current gen (solo GT6 lo batte in questo frangente). Graficamente li trovo identici: cambia solo la palette dei colori, generalmente più caldi per Forza un po' più freddi per pCARS.

    Test that showed us that car with a full fuel tank is slower than car running on fumes. Test of setup? Not really.

      Yes, it makes a huge difference. Corner exit speed, load on brakes is totally different. Take your road car (if you have one), pack an extra friend, try to floor it uphill, then try to floor it without him. You will feel the difference.
      You are comparing the uncomparable. It would be the same if you put on wets and compared it to "set up" car with slicks on dry track.

      My car has just 90hp and weights 800kg, of course it is very influenced by added weight on uphill.
      If 40kg are a considerable difference on a 90hp 800kg car, that weight is almost irrilevant on a 730hp 1500kg car.
      An heavier and more powerful car is way less influenced by added weight.
      Listen, if don't believe me, repeat the same test on this game (Project CARS) with stock setup and then with *my* setup (both with same amount of fuel).
      But instead of my 2 attempts, do 5 laps with both setups. Start with the 1st car: you'll notice the difference...
      (the test on wet track was made with rain tyres in both setups).
