For an even less expensive weight slide, use the soft tygone tubing and paper clip. You had the soft red tubing. Most hardware stores have lengths of the clear soft tubes. About 1/2” of tube with paper clip works great for a slide. I haven’t purchased a bobber stop in years. Most stores carry packages of little rubber bands in the hair care section. Do a full hitch around the line and pull it tight. Instant bobber stop. You can even trim the excess loop and it will stay in place for multiple fish. A couple hundred bobber stops for about $1.29.

I think you gotta leave some more slack in your chain between the zip tie and the attachment point on the bottom of the anchor. Maybe that would help it break that zip tie a little easier if you get it stuck

Me and my cousin are on the opposite sides when it comes to politics and we have expressed our feelings, from time to time, over the years (60++++++)This cause some friction, but he's my kin, so we continued to interact. Here of late we have been interacting more and more, because we both love to fish, just like I did with his Daddy (who had the same beliefs as his son, or vice versa.) Now we don't even mention politics, as I did with his Daddy. We know where we stand, we know who we are, without a word. What this taught me was, I could miss an opportunity , whatever it may be, like talking about fishing, with a family member, co-worker , neighbor, friend, or random stranger over something as simple as my , or their politics. How dumb is that, jus sayin.
Our world is too weird anymore. I read an article, today, where a guy shot his neighbor because he thought his politics was different than his. (Happened in Ohio) Then I read an article where a guy injured a bunch of people at a rally, yep same thing. How buggered up is that?
So what am I trying to say here? Danged if I know, maybe just food for thought.
Don't normally respond to videos or the likes. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
Thank a Veteran today, they are entitled 👍.
Enjoyed the video. Stuff I'll use, fur shur. Fish On.........

I been using the release clips and cannon ball weights for years for walleye fishing no secret to walleye fisherman you can go on the internet and find graphs that will tell you what ounce weight and how much line to run to find the depth you want to target fish keep up the good work I always like seeing ideas of other fisherman to get ideas of my own thanks again on good ideas

Thank you Keith another great video. Another thing you can do with the X tube wrap is cover a tiller handle with it I have a 1992 Evinrude 25 tiller that the handle cushion was coming off and it was hard to get a comfortable grip I took some of the 45 or 50mm wrap slid it over the tiller handle shrank it down and BAM a new tiller grip and I used red to make it more visible an easier to find at night or in a hurry it stands out .

Saltwater slow trolling I use rubberbands with bank sinkers to keep my rigs down. Just break the band off when you get it to the rod and then reel the fish on in.

The innertube over the chain, you could use wire ease (a jell electricians use to fish wires through conduit, slick as snail snot).

Hello, it’s David from Australia. Love your channel and your creative mind. I like your idea to cut up plastic tube to make knot protectors. A friend of mine uses cut-up fly-screen door tubing for the same thing. That is, the tube or cord pressed into the channel to secure the screen. I buy lots of craft stuff from the Dollar Store for fishing. 🤓👍🎣

A hack I like is spray flex seal. You can buy a cheap net and spray it with flex seal and rubber coat it cheap. Also spray large singers so they don’t knock paint of ya boat. Spray anchor chain you can spray yourself if you get carried away

Makes a lot of sense for that paperclip. I bottom fish for Rockfish and Halibut and because we use like 80 pound braid we needed a weak point in case we hung up. So I went with a 40 pound line for my weight since 9 times out of 10 it was the weight getting stuck between rocks. Save a lot of expensive rigs by just losing the weight

    • @FishinNStuff
      @FishinNStuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

What is even cheaper for weights is if you use a cotter pin, open it a bit put it over your line then put it through the hole in a large nut ( as in a nut and bolt) then open the cotter pin all the way so it can't slide off. if the nut get snagged the cotter pin will bend closed, the nut comes off. Another benefit to this is you aren't polluting the water with lead

I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.

2:10 I have been using these bobber stops from Bass Pro for about 15 years or so. I’m a bass fisherman & I would have to go to the pan fish section to find them. Then I was doing Rep work for my tournament sponsor at BPS & told them ti stock them with the bass weights. They did & they started selling out of them shortly after.

if you use a snap/snap swivel, put a silicone bead before tying your line than insert it to the tip of the swivel. Whan you reel in, silicone beads secure the swivel and your rod tip doesn’t get damaged.

Tiny binder clips work for slides and then you have 2 hangers for the weights.
Also air hose from your live well stone will be small enough for a knot protector.

A GREAT idea for part of a future video would be to figure a fairly easy way to install those handle grips on a spinning rod handle all the way from the butt to the top of the handle (where the rod starts). I did one like this and it takes a lot more time, but has been my favorite rod ever since. The main trick is to get the tightest fit around the reel stem without having any irritating rough edges where you grip the rod/reel. There is a commercially made product that is like this which I first saw at the rod/reel repair shop. It was stupid expensive for a piece of rubber, so I tried to imitate as closely as possible.

Just ran across your channel. Your videos are awesome. I've spent the last 2 hours watching your videos. So I'm just breaking the surface. But as I was watching I started to think plastic Easter eggs and some hot glue could possibly make a great bobber or something. I once bought 24pk eggs on clearance for $0.10. If something could be done with it I'm fairly certain you could design something using the plastic eggs. Even if it's used to separate and/or carry hooks, sinkers, small supplies, etc.. Thank you for all your hard work you've put into these videos. Awesome job.

Let the inner tubes sit outside in the sun until they get good and hot then stretch them over the chain. Or, drop the tube into boiling water then stretch it over the chain.

I use safety pins (I grabbed a few one time from the wife's sewing stash) because I didn't want to stop on the way to the lake. They have done right by me ever since.

I also use the bobber stops to mark the depth of my line where I want it/fish are biting....crappie,etc.I'll run it down my main line till it's on top of the spool of my casting reels, this way it doesn't have to go through the guides,or levelwind and I just let out line till the stop is on top of the spool before it goes out the levelwind.
I quit using egg sinkers long ago because it wears on the line and also quit clipping the bank, flat bank,or any of the others with the eyes onto the slides.I tie them to the slides with cow hitches and lighter line than my main.If the sinker happens to get snagged I can pull and break it off and get everything, besides the sinker, along with the fish in.The paperclip will be an idea I'll give a try, won't have to have an extra spool of line laying around and will be a lot easier to remove when packing up.
I keep my Santee Rig from floating higher than I have the leader set at by just reeling in till the swivel hits the slider.
I like the old heat shrink over the snake skin crap.
The slide in of #FJB was good....lol

I reel my line in too when using a Santee rig but everytime a boat comes by the wake drags your bait towards you then eventually its right there under the boat lol .

@@FishinNStuff Yeah it also happens from the bank too, especially with these dolts that want to run these 30-40' cruiser size ocean vessels on the local lake with no idea what boating rules are let alone common sense.
I just reel up the slack when I see the line gets a bow in it.During the summer especially weekends it's not safe for Jons,Kayaks or most other boats under 16' here, even your black boat.

Instead of inner tubes use heat shrink. I made me some tie downs for my truck and they don’t scratch the bed.
