Well, to be fair… the last time a European got inspired by learning about the American government’s historical treatment of indigenous peoples… it was in the form of Zyklon B and human rights violations (for those who don’t know Pre-1945 Germany thought the genocide was really good, just didn’t go far enough… America rewriting the narrative to be their ideological antithesis is ahistorical since their policies were actually an inspiration and a prototype for their politicians to put into practice again on a larger legislative scale past their country into others)

Crystal sugar is actually very handy, it's good for open wounds. I'm a vet student and when I was working with small animals at the teaching hospital a phd student had just published an article about it's uses for open surgical wounds and it was pretty effective and like, so cheap. Apparently it's got something to do with how it changes the ph. You're not supposed to let it sit for more than ten minutes though, and you had to fully wash it again after using it. I remember because it was my job as a lowly first year to clean the animals or help restrain them. Well, it was better than handling all the poop!

For those who do not know for understandable reasons, (not being North American and therefore understandably not knowing much of US history) the Trail of Tears is well named. That was the trail over 60,000 Native Americans were forced to take away from their homes in the 1800s. It was a harrowing jounrey and many died along the way. Thankfully, today, there are movements to help their descendants get their homes back and to preserve their heritages and cultures (as those who suffered were from different tribes, and different tribes had and have distinct practices, histories, and cultures.) I hope everyone has a good day and love to all. 💕

Highway of tears is the path the europeans forced North American natives to walk, no breaks, horrible conditions, most died on the way and their bodies were just left where they were on the side of the road. They walked those trails when europeans started colonizing and pushing the natives to tiny parts of their land. There are many highways of tears in the usa and Canada. In Canada the highway of tears usually refers to a long road in BC near Prince George/prince Rupert where hundreds of indigenous women and children have and continue to go missing and get murdered along it. Hundreds of people going missing and getting murdered, 18 have been officially reported and declared active cases.

Hi Gab. I watch you on Twitch more than TH-cam and just wanted to say I love the Nancy series and enjoy how much entertainment you give me on gloomy days. I also have something to say and I really hope you or the community don’t take this the wrong way but, when you have Sean play with you on the Nancy drew games, I find it extremely difficult to focus and read. The reason I love this series from you is because you’re so laid back and so focused. I love when you read out loud because I’m dyslexic and when I read, it can be challenging. I couldn’t watch stream so I waited till you posted it on YT so I can pause and read and try to understand on my own. I didn’t want to keep asking chat what did the characters say or have chat repeat so I waited and was able to understand a little bit. I can kind of tell that you wanted to read the whole thing when you click on the books/papers too but Sean would start yelling and interrupt your reading with jokes and funny sounds. I love the both of you I really do! But I and maybe others, would like it better when you’re the only one playing ND. Again I really hope I didn’t offend you guys I just wanted you to know. Also if anyone from the community feels I’ve offended you I’m really really sorry. I want to enjoy ND just as much as you guys do and me having dyslexia and other learning issues already makes it harder for me to focus let alone trying to focus while Sean tells his joke(amazing jokes I should say). I hope you guys can understand what I’m saying but if not you can ask me anything. It was a great episode btw!❤

"1% of tornadoes are EF4/5s" uhh maybe when this game was created but weve been getting a Lot more EF4s lately to the point Tornado Emergencies have been called more and more often (TEs are a term made up by a guy at the National Weather Service in 1999, A lot of people in tornado alley werent taking warnings seriously enough because they had them so often. They created the Tornado Emergency to say "GET TO SHELTER NOW OR DIE" for the tornadoes they believed to be Extremely dangerous and people started to listen and it saved more lives.)

Did you come to this mouse trap... for the CHEESE? :D It's time for my super long comment about all the things my brain held onto about this game when it could've retained useful information!
    - I've probably said this before, but the goofy voice in the audio settings is Mr. Woogle Woggle, Nancy's teddy bear that she "interrogates" if you do the tutorial on how to talk to people.
    - Nancy's journal mentions that Ned, Bess, and George are all spelunking, which is why they can't be called in this game.
    - The TV plays a decent variety of little clips that have lots of references to the older games, naturally. You saw the Waverly one, the exterior of a building from game #2, and the interior hall near the kitchen in Blackmoor during the "Are you a detective?" one. And the full audio of the Detective Beach one says, "You're a loose cannon, Mcsomething, I want your badge and your surfboard on my desk immediately!" "Only one man would be crazy enough to use a shark to rob a bank... You gotta put me back on the case, chief!" lol. There's also some flashes of Minette's/Heather's fashion designs.
    - The radio similarly has a lot of goofiness to hear. There's a Koko Kringle ad that claims it's the "only candy bar with genuine Kringle action" whatever that means. The injury lawyer ad mentions carousel accidents (Haunted Carousel), darkroom mishaps (Danger By Design), and lava accidents (Kapu Cave). An Irish pub song and Mel's cello playing can come on. There's a disgruntled caller whining about his taxes going to new roads because when he was a kid, he was promised hovercars. There's a commercial for the Lockbuster Infinity that features the iconic "It's locked!" sound. And there's a news show called "Disagree About The News" that... seems like the kind of thing my parents actually listen to.
    - The green crate in Scott's office is the blee blah blu one that Quigley had in Kapu Cave.
    - Pretty sure Debbie is voiced by Mel the goth cellist girl.
    - I love that Frosty said he would include Lori Girard in his disaster kit. I guess the ending of Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon didn't *totally* ruin her public image somehow?
    - The sign by the corn field is the logo for the Hilihili company from Kapu Cave.
    - The "Nile" thing on the car's LED thing is a hint at the game taking place in Egypt that was being worked on (or at least planned) at the time.
    - This game has one of my favorite conversation bits ever: "Do they call you Chase because you chase tornadoes?" "Do they call you Nancy because you Nancy too many questions?!" is just too good, lol.
    - The coin to make the jackalope machine run is in the $99.90 box along with a cool little... tornado doodad thing. That coin will also get you an Easter egg! The other eggs come from using the divining rod to poke every hole in the empty prairie dog area... for some reason. And you can get one by leaving more Moon Chunk cheese in front of the spring house for the mice; when you return later, they've left you a gift!
    - There's a super easy way to make tons of Pa Pennies with Land Rush: on the fourth level, click on a chunk of land to start the game and back out before the CPU takes their turn. Jackpot!
    - Debbie and Frosty are so silly for having that secret conversation by the corn. Didn't they know there were listening *ears* nearby? ;)
    - I cracked up imagining Nancy squatting under the desk, putting down the trap, pulling out the cheese, and then just chomping on it like a goober.
    - If you have candy in your inventory, you can offer it to people! Pa will say something like, "Uh, are you offering me some of my own candy?" and turn you down. Everyone else will accept candy, though they won't take the cheese. They'll say stuff like, "Nancy, I thought you were offering me candy. This is cheese!" haha
    - The knife with coolant on it connects to the cut tubing in the barn. It's left of the desk where you can do the weather balloon thing for money from Chase. I don't know what kind of mice Chase has seen in his life, but the cut in that thing is sliced very precisely, not nibbled by little teeth.
    - P.G. Krolmeister has some interesting things to say if you call. You can ask how many products Krolmeister makes and his answer is just... a lot, including a salad cannon. And he's apparently ~friends~ with Prudence Rutherford. ;)
    - The button on the bottom of the colored wires puzzle when you're working on the storm chasing truck lets you check your progress while you're partway through. Handy!
    - I seriously never noticed the key pattern above the door of the Grange storm shelter until Sean casually pointed it out. I just treated it like the end of Final Scene with the random box of keys. Oops.
    - You're so much more careful driving than I was! When I play, Nancy is just nyoooming around, dodging (and not dodging) anyone else on the road. Heh. My husband was horrified at my driving and I told him, "Look, if I wasn't meant to crash into people, there wouldn't be such a big health bar for the cars!"
This game is definitely one of the weaker ones in the series. Too many chores, not nearly enough snoopy detectiving opportunities. But the German one should be more fun! :D
