Relearning Portrait Painting with Limited Colors

It's been how many years since high school?? Well, I have some time to try and relearn some basic strokes in portrait painting. This was a struggle - it was not as easy as I'd hoped. As a first attempt from so many years ago, I'm pleased with the result - but I'm MORE PLEASED with what I learned in 90 minutes of painting. Blending techniques, color washing and blending, playing with highlight and shadow is all good in discussion and watching videos, but you learn so much more once you have the brush in your hand.
This was about the experience and the self-education (as are most things I create). More to come, and hopefully more learning along the way.
