Hey guys! I wanted to let you know I just launched an "Insiders" Newsletter where once a week I'm sharing an important lesson I've learned in aviation, links to my latest content so you don't miss out, and links to any other interesting or helpful content I've found. I'm also working on a HUGE project I can't announce yet but I'm going to be sharing more behind the scenes info with Insiders first - Subscribe (it's free) at: airplaneacademy.com/insiders

Can a plane fly higher than its rating?
      What are the dangers?

Owned and flew a T206 for a number of years on floats, skis, and oversized and regular tires in Alaska, Canada, and Lower- 48. Fantastic aircraft that does the mission it’s built for and more. Just can’t understand the current price tag on it, $750k? I feel like that’s a bit absurd especially for an aircraft that is good but isn’t much more than a slightly larger 182. You can buy significantly more capable aircraft for a lot less.
Extremely large price tag for an aircraft with pulleys and levers, aluminum frame, and the same cockpit avionics package as a 172S.
No doubt an extremely capable plane but just doesn’t offer anything else beyond being good at its mission coming with a premium price tag.

Yup. Diamond did it, and I bet Cirrus follows soon, but before Textron/Cessna. Once they jump, anything running LL and even UL avgas is a dinosaur. There were LL shortages on the east coast a few months back (hit or miss at various airfields), but Jet-A was plentiful. That will get much worse in a few years, especially since the UL replacement is proprietary (read: expensive and hard to make).

The flap safety switch is an iffy design choice. If passengers pop the doors in an emergency landing, the pilot will be unable to deploy flaps before touchdown. This could be a serious hazard, please consider adding an override! For instance, ignition engaged could be a simple override as you most likely intend to have doors and flaps at the same time if the engine is running and the doors are opened. Beautiful aircraft though!

It' amazing how much chatter is going on that should have been covered pre flight. In VFR conditions you're still responsible for see and avoid even if you're filed IFR. VFR altitudes (< 18000') is where more diligence is required. Safety is first and foremost above all else. I see so many of these videos and I get it, people like to show off their aeronautical knowledge, point out landmarks etc. If there are 2 in the cockpit at lease one should be outside the aircraft most of the time and let the other chatter away. We all started in small airplanes but so many times in my 20 years as a commercial airline pilot I saw many of those bad habits carry over into jets. The lack of just good airmanship. We have sims for all familiarization and I'm aware that the small single piston planes don't but you can sit in it on the ground and get familiarized. Then put that knowledge into practice in the air. Two times flying the 727 I got a TCAS resolution advisory alert while on visual approach in class B airspace. Small single engine and we didn't see him. Thank you TCAS. Thankfully the 727 was quite responsive. When I transitioned to the 747 I found out that it wasn't nearly as responsive. Don't get me wrong, I love small planes and only wish that when I was starting out my C150 and the equipment that small planes have today. I flew a PA28-181 from Kansas to Maine and back, VFR mostly at night with just a VOR and ADF. I wouldn't dre try that now though. Would have been nice to have had an autopilot of just a simple wing leveler. Having spent so many years in jets operating in the high structure I'm not sure I could read a VFR sectional now. By the way, nice airplane and avionics.
