The bimetal jacket are made through a mill rolling process rather than a wash. The bullets are usually sealed with tar, which get harder and tougher the older it gets
I have 3 packs remaining out of a crate I purchased about 8 years ago.I found it to be the most accurate in my Norinco sks.I think the Chinese 7.62x39 is probably at the bottom of the ladder for accuracy! As usual ,great review.
I have about 1,500 rounds of Czech 7.62x54r that I got a while back, when it was still cheap. I save it for vintage rifle match use, because it is extremely accurate ammunition. I was planning on doing a video on it here soon, I just need a nice non windy day!
Yeah, I know what you mean. I have seen it at gun shows, but people are wanting $10 to $15 a box! It is redicilous, because no surplus ammo is worth that much!
Wow, I would say yeah! Talk about crazy, 9mm largo is usually about $7 for 25 rnds of non C surplus, but a guy was trying to sell it for $15. It was corrosive to!
I've got 600ish rounds left (from a case of 1200) of Czech surplus that are nicely packed in sealed plastic, gonna save those for a rainy day. ;-) As you mentioned, this is not match grade ammo (never intended to be), but I have found them to be good quality, reliable and my 858 likes 'em as well. Funny how dark your bullets are, I'm guessing due to just being packed in cardboard and not sealed ?
I think that cardboard packing must have been rather acidic and this made the bullets tarnish, they were tarnished like that when I broke the ammo can open a few years ago. I have a few of the plastic packed rounds and they dont have the same tarnish on the bullets.
Did you buy this from budget shooter supply? He has czech surplus for sale on stripper clips in 1200 rd crates I want to get some just want to know about quality.
That light blue box said S & B to me. I wonder what effect the tough bullet pull might impart. You'd probably have to pull a bunch and reseat them to tell. Maybe the seven will have to do if they are such a bitch to separate. Looking forward to Part 2.
I`ve pulled and reseated these in the past, and also seated the bullet a hair deeper to break the bond between the neck and the bullet. It did seem to cut down on the number of `fliers`in the groups, but all considered it did not seem worth the bother. Part 2 is uploading right now.
Bought a box of this a few months ago and didn't know what it was. Thanks !
I appreciate the good and thorough ammo reviews. I always learning something new on your videos.
Thanks.

No sign of any tar seal on the batch I got.

The surplus Chinese ammo does not seem great for accuracy, but some of the Norinco commercial stuff is decent.

I think I have exactly two boxes of that ammo left, have not seen any for sale in a long time.

I saw a box of ten rounds of 1938 8x56 Austrian (on clips) at the last gun show for $65! Now that is a crazy price.

Although the Czech ammo is not currently on the market there is plenty of other 7.62x39 on the Canadian market at the moment.
It's available now from many suppliers

I've heard really great stuff about Golden Tiger ammo in the 7.62x39. Have you heard or know anything ?
I've never seen it for sale here so I dont have any experience with it.
