    The good thing about the CGL prints is that they are organized by eras, so you don't have to carry, or go searching through, multiple books for designs that - oh yes - were in active service during that era. The bad is that not all variants are covered and in some rare cases a mech not covered.
    And the "modern" marvel of PDF formats means you can easily carry your entire Battletech collection (whichever FASA, FanPro, Wizkids, CGL book versions) with you without the hassles of porting around physical copies with your away-game supplies, and even digital re-writable, printable versions of your record sheets (Just make sure to begin with fully charged, strong batteries in your mobile, pad or laptop, and/or access to power outlets). Meanwhile, you can keep your prized physical copies for perusing at home with a comfortable lounger and choice of refreshment.

    The cover of the original 3025 TRO with the Marauder is by far my most favorite old school Battletech cover.

      Probably the second most iconic next to that original Warhammer shot on the old box sets.

    I still have my OG TRO 3025 which I luckily convinced my mom to buy me new in 1986/87. It looks like yours and is taped up and held together with tape and prayers.

      Tape, testament to years of use, abuse, and affection. I figure that if all else fails, I can bind it up.
      Towhich means that I spent about $80 I shouldn't have to buy one of those dohickies that one uses to bind paper with plastic spiral things. Like those used to bind my would-be game books. When I added up the costs of all those plastic protectors and binder/folders, it'll be cheaper if I keep generating PDFs such as a number of those I got from that bundle thing last month.
      Gaming is an addiction, or so I'm told...

    Thanx for the video! now I know what is inside and not to get it since it is all stuff I already have. I was curious about that Golden Century TRO though.

      It's a TRO I don't have (yet), but it appears to be part of the Clan Klondike Operation at the birth of the Clans. I'd like to find a cheap copy myself, if for no other reason then most of the Mechs and vehicles within 'aught' to be height of the SLDF stuff.

    Yeh Catalyst did do a reprinting of the older TROs , my 3055 TRO is a Catalyst reprint , if you look real hard you might find one hidden amongst some old stock at a random store . I dont know if they're worth it though they're missing the unseen mechs and in my reprint copy the '3055 upgrade' they changed the back half of the book so instead of the IICs and second line mechs of the original it has the Wolf in Exile Omnimechs (naga , linebacker prowler etc) , a Clan and WoB 'phoenix' battlemech , then 50 pages wasted on Solaris VII mechs and then it reverts to the og Clan omnifighters .......... I consider it a sidegrade at best , you either want originals or the very latest TROs like this the Clan Invasion , Jihad and the future Dark Ages one I think . If you're new the current TROs are excellent and you can be assured they'll be valid for 30 years not 3 like a more expensive GW codex for example

      I give CGL credit for not trying to fully retconning the older material. So many companies like to shove older stuff off the table in order to cash in and fully lay claim to the franchise.
      I'll admit though, that I am still a bit confused by the differences between the printed TRO's and those PDF Recognition books they've got.

    I bought it so I dont further trash my held together by a prayer originals . Mind you I dont have a 'budget' im 45 I'm already divorced so I've taken that hit , have no kids , rent is cheap and I have a good job . It has alot of mechs not in the originals , more than I anticipated .

    • @yourseatatthetable
      @yourseatatthetable  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I fully understand. i got married right out of high school for all the wrong reasons, then spent two years of mutely inflicted hell trying to pay for the divorce. During which, my ex and I had a kid. She didn't bother to tell me about him until he was nearly ten and DHS came knocking wanting child support. It's taken me over 30 years to pay it, and all that wonderful back support back san's this spring. At nearly $600/mo it'll be like getting a whole weeks pay each month added to my budget.
      I also spent two years and several thousand dollars to force the DHS to allow a paternity test (after all, I caught my ex cheating on me twice during those two years of marriage). He was mine, by by then he wanted nothing to do with me and it is, what it was.
      I remarried about eight years after that, and we had a daughter. She's married and living a long way away so it's just the wife and I and a clowder of cats. I made a lot of mistakes over the years, and for most of it, was too arrogant to accept that I was my own worse enemy. Such too, is life. I woke up, as they like to say these days. So we're doing better, but are far from where we aught to have been had I taken a different path.
      All that said, we have a roof over our heads, one that's not always one flat tire or motor problem away from breaking down. Our bills are getting paid, though some weeks are thinner then others. Life is ... better... then it used to be.

    Yep, marketing that all gaming companies have done. What is more interesting is, you brought it up, they have retconned cannon, rewritten history, and specs for their modern political perceptions and game use. Not trying to knock Catalyst Games, but yeah, I am, they make decisions and can live with consequences. They want our money and could care less what fans think, that is a very truthful comment, it's actually a fact. Give me your money and shut up and it's someone else's fault it takes years for delivery, and that's before the world health scare . . .

    • @yourseatatthetable
      @yourseatatthetable  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It gets even more convoluted. I'm starting to read a Jihad sourcebook and the first couple of pages is from one of the heads at Fanpro trying to explain the difficulty of tying up threads from FASA and tiptoing around WizKids.. I'll do a video on it soon.

But Battletech ceased being the game we all love decades ago. Enjoy it or not up to person, but folks need to stop trying to tell us we cannot play the old game as we we want, the new generation are like the BORG, hive minded morons that are mindless consumers of real creation and have yet to create anything other than derision amongst old school gamers and reality, actually, Whoot!
