Re: the intro - Ironically, some of the biggest impacts of WOE in Standard were _in_ mono-red itself. They're now playing Goddric, Charming Scoundrel, Monstrous Rage, Witchstalker Frenzy, Twisted Fealty...

Frenzy is a 1-2 man answer to sheoldred that you can maindeck. The reason to play monowhite over mono red was that it could answer sheoldred. Now monored has arguably the best answer of any color to it's nemesis.
“We will play four Sheoldreds until they learn!” has strong “the beating will continue until morale improves” vibes and I’m wholly in support of it here
Boros burn modern player here. Your attitude in the beginning is 1000% on. Mountain swifty swing (19) pass, you fetch shock thoughtseize and see, boros charm, swing with swith spear, pass,untap, boros charm, draw, bolt, swing with swiftspear game... You concede to game 2 off seeing so much fire power from your thought seize. I live for it.
I swear to God that I'm on the draw easily 2/3s of the time. I mean, I NEVER chain 5 or 6 games being first... but frequently on the draw, to the point that I start to auto-concede when it's the 6th time in a row. But if I am, somebody must experience the contrary, obviouly.. CAN ANYBODY TELL ME THE TRICK, PRETTY PLEASE???

I'm a filmmaker as well as a Magic player and didn't take the platform seriously until my nephews showed me your stuff, and I've been a loyal follower ever since. Got me hooked on some of the other better content like @commandzone, too. The way you "call" the games while simultaneously playing them is remarkable. I appreciate mono red, and always have. Never play it, but appreciate it. It keeps the meta honest. I'm sick of 3-5 color piles of greed griding out value wins.
It's how I recommend people get into MTG/A because it's simple to get the concept but still takes planning. And it gives you the means to build the deck you want because it's so hard to accumulate cards/in-game currency without a winning start

I remember being really excited to play new deck a few days ago, I lost the next 7 games in a row within the first 5 turns because of mono red or another hella agro deck
I feel your pain, CGB. My recording sessions are plagued by monored. I don't show it if I lose because I reguse to give monored time in the spotlight. About 50% of my games are against that trash...
Reminds me of a black-white deck I made back in Theros/Ikoria Standard in 2020 called "Lurrus hates Aggro". All hateful Eidolons (basically lifelink and draw a card for each aura), all the removal-auras available and to finish the white pump-enchantments to make a huge hateful lifelink critter. And thanks to Lurrus nothing stays dead. Loses to control. Somewhat weak but kind of fair against ramp. Obliterates mono-white and mono-red. Restorer of balance, totally worth it :)

You don't worry about if a couple of videos are not peak quality. People understand you have a life (or at least they should). If people are watching, that's proof that they're enjoying (revealed preference). Even your haters are, in a weird way, enjoying if they're watching. You can start worrying if your views are going down, don't fret about "hate" in the comments. Ironically, the bigger your channel gets, the higher the likelihood of "hate" in the comments.
Agreed, its not fun or exciting to play at all, and then it seems for some reason the mono red players have the highest percentage of roping out if you stop them. I just assume its a bunch of 11 year olds playing

Just came back to the game after years not playing. Cause I stomped a modern real life the other day and wanted to see how standard feels now... Made a BG midrange and it´s cooking. But seeing gives me vibes! And I have most of stuff from the BG. So gonna use this as a 2nd deck and then just save everything. Thanks for the awesome vid
Mono red deck is popular not because people enjoy its playstyle that much, but because any other top-tier deck requires a ton of gold and orange jokers to craft. You beat monored with busted mythics like Sheoldred or Virtue, but the irony is these overpowered mythics is the reason monored is so popular.
WoE gameplay progression. 1) Read Gumdrop Poisoner. 2) Try gumdrop in every deck with black mana. 3) Put in 4 gumdrops. 5) Redesign entire deck around gumdrops 5) Go to store, buy actual gumdrops. 6) Eat a gumdrop every time I eat the food to gain life or use gumdrop to kill a creature.
Doesn't lose against everything else...but more like 30% 😂. Red lacks counters/removal because they often use it to aggro, but most other do and this isn't a new strategy so..
I think mono red is so prevalent due to the fact that getting the cards you need for new decks is somewhat difficult on arena unless you want to spend lots of money. The mono red deck has been around a while and is not super rare or mythic intensive.
This is me with gruul werewolves. Kinda why I started playing mono black control. I'm looking for a decent demir control deck too but I never understand how many counter spells and draw cards I should put in the deck.

This deck slaps! I am lacking rares, with only 1 x whale, 3 x virtues and less some rare lands. I topped up on go for the throats and threw in a couple Evolved Sleepers and I am killing it.

The last 2 Standard Events that I tried participating with I faced mono red 3 times while being on the draw in each event. Mono red is everywhere

While i think aggro is an evergreen archetype in standard for a reason, i can't really say I'm upset mono red is getting the hatred it truly deserves.
