To me, your perseverance was/is astounding. I'm 71(72 in May), retired and doctor addicted to clonazepam(Klonopin) since 1997. After botched surgery in 20003, prescribed Morphine(350mg/day) my life was hell. Currently I take 1mg clonazepam/day and 2mg Suboxone/day. For OVER a year I have tried to taper(I feel heavily sedated and fatigued) but the withdrawal is unbearable. Thank you for your videos. I took my last effexor pill on October 15, 2020 and things are shaky and I ALWAYS feel better listening to your videos. You are a beacon of light of hope because you you've lived this experience I am going through now. I was on it for 2 years and spent another year and a half tapering. Even so, I'm left with digestive/sensory overload issues currently Feb 2021. Started effexor in June 2016. You offer me hope and your doing a wonderful service. Thank you. Everything is hard at the moment. 😢
Thank you Michael! I'm having a bad time at the moment with withdrawal. I'm 2 years and 2 months off my SSRI (citalopram) and I thought I was getting some sustained healing. I did have a relatively good month or two but now my symptoms are back and it's awful. You have to keep telling yourself that the healing is real but it's so hard to believe it is actually happening when out of nowhere the symptoms are back and it it feels like all that progress I made has just been undone. I'm sure better days are ahead but as we all know this is an incredibly frustrating situation. Thanks for the videos, and all my love and good wishes to everyone going through this, we will get there eventually
Yes it can be discouraging Joseph, with the ups and downs, but don't ever look at a down day (or even a down week or two) as "healing being undone." That isn't the case! Always moving forward, even if a person doesn't feel the best on a given day!
@@TheLovelyGrind thanks for your reply, I think I need to try to journal my progress a little more. Despite the recent set back, if I really look at my symptoms they are far far better than they were 2 years ago, or even 6 months or a year ago. I'm in a wave right now, but the waves at the moment aren't anything like as bad as the waves were at the beginning. Despite the remaining difficulties, huge progress has been made and hopefully journaling will help me to not lose sight of that (even though it's difficult when you're feeling worse). Watching these videos always gives me hope for the future so thank you so much!
This message you share is so desperately needed! I am going through my second year of withdrawal and feel that there is little hope and you provide a lifeline! Thank you.
So glad that you found my videos. Don't get discouraged. It can take a bit to find restoration and strength, but it is happening little by little. Keep at it and stay encouraged!
Thank you for this video that sheds light on the “withdrawal “ process. 10 years on and almost 3 months off. You nailed it with all the side effect issues, stomach, depression, anxiety, They don’t tell you how long this process last, but it’s real and the effects are real, but as you said, there’s hope through the God of all hope and mercy 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Way to keep walking the path forward Thomas; keep taking care of yourself and getting healthier, and you will see breakthroughs this year! Take care today!
Thank you for sharing. This is helping...I was on paxil for over 15 years, then switched to lexapro for about one year. I'm 2 months off of these ssri's and experiencing bad withdrawal, with morning panic/terror being brutal, among other symptoms Praying I get through this and thankful I'm not alone. Blessings.
On another video I asked how you made it through work while withdrawing so thank you for the insight! I am glad it worked out for you. I lost my job because I was so sick but on the flip side, I gained time to focus on my health as well as perspective on where I am in life and where I want go.
Great way to look at it. This process can force us to "slow down" in ways we didn't wish for or anticipate, but the question is then how do we use that time! It can be a blessing! Use it to restore and find yourself.
Great message! Thank you! I have been on ativan since 1987 when I was 27. I am 58 and still struggling with coming off these meds slowly. Also since 1991 I have been on Effexor for severe depression. I now realize for 7 years or so that I am in tolerance withdrawal from the benzo. All the emerg visits thinking I was having heart attack, etc etc. What I received was more benzos and that it was all in my head. Dealt with Crohn's and have an ileostomy from 1991. Nothing however, is worse than this tolerance withdrawal. Bodily symptoms of shaking, electric jolts, panic, and depression. Isolating, memory loss, racing mind. Coordination is off. As a creative I am always busy and working. Trying to get through this time and not think of dementia looming or the fact my tapering could be nearly impossible at this point. My brain literally has been drugged for 34 years. It scares me to think of it. God bless!
Nothing is impossible, and it is never to late to make positive moves in a different direction. If you desire to make a change, just think of the first, practical step you can take toward that change, then take it. You'll be okay. And yes, creative work can be a help as a person is going through this. Great outlet for thoughts and emotions! Take care!
I just learned that klonopin i was prescribed and taking the last 5 years, even in low dose was detrimental. I cannot describe how grateful I am, to have found your channel. I will definitely be watching your videos to get through. Love the signs I'm already getting leading to healing. Gives me alot of strength and positive thoughts before even deciding if CT, or tapering is best. I will be following you closely.
So glad you found my videos. I would taper the medication, not go cold turkey. It doesn't have to take forever, and even a quicker taper will be better than CT. Take care!
I'm 8 months off meds , and that's exactly what I'm feeling now, especially about planning my future. I know it's a matter of time and patience is needed, but I'm not sure if it is worth all the pain meanwhile. The hardest point that people never understand what is going on , and nobody will understand why I have such mood or behavior. When I asked my doctor about it, he said after few months , meds should leave your system , and no more withdrawal. He prescribed me Beat-blocker for anxiety instead, that's funny. How can I trust more medications , if I'm already suffering from long withdrawal cause a dangerous meds I had.

Thanks for this informative videos. Does diet play an important role in benzo withdrawal symptoms? After lunch, when I take a short nap, I feel mental nausea, toxic type of feel in my head after getting up. Can it be possible due to the diet I take, and taking nap just after food? as this chemical type of toxic feel I don't experience other times of the day.
A good diet can help healing, and a bad one could increase symptom intensity a bit, but what you describe is more about napping. For whatever reason, the process of waking up can be more of a challenge while healing, and doing it once a day is plenty. Most people, myself included, end up avoiding naps. Better to save the sleep for the evening time anyway!
You put it right back in their face, and that b... Well she'll get what's coming for her hate people like that, but it came around for the better for you anyway, your videos help me a great deal with my benzo brain.
Did you experience dpdr, and feeling of unreality during your withdrawal? I haven't found any of your videos on this horrible symptom. I am 3 months off xanax, at this time, when my physical pains are less, I feel floating and spinning type of mind, and feels like no gravity that attachs me in the surroundings, my blurry vision makes it horrible and unbearable, I feel so detached and swiped away. It's so scary. Did you experience something like this? Is it a benzo withdrawal? Please help, I am losing hope.
Everyone is scared to face the challenge, not just you. It is possible. It can be a challenge, but it is possible and ultimately a decision that can lead to a lot less fear in your daily life! Take care!
Is it fair to say, that all this suffering is not my baseline. It’s been 15 months cold turkey. Lexapro Martazipine, and a boat load of pharmaceuticals poly medicated and it’s a lot of suffering. I think about reinstating. Very dismayed. Your videos help. Thank you.

Hello, I hope someone can please answer or comment if they went through similar things as im going thru. I have been tapering down paxil 30mg, I want to be off meds that i have been taking for over 10 years. 2 days ago was my last pill of paxil. The withdrawal symptoms were somehow bearable at first while tapering down. Now its been 2 days meds free, I have none stop severe brain zaps, dizziness, weird eye movement accompanied by sensors disturbance in my head, I cant go out from the house, i constantly need assistance. Im so tired, muscle pain everywhere, crying spells, extreme anxiety and confusion As if im disoriented and disassociate from my entourage. I am ready to push through but did anyone get it and got better after ? I am not sure how long will i be able to handle this, please someone tell me they went thru this and it will go away in some time and i will be better.
Yes, I went through these things and it got better. So have others. The withdrawal symptoms can be scary and confusion, but they do go away! Hang in there!
Thats alchol story is true to me Im a farmer in india, life here in india is not easy as yours One day i was picking up the bundles of wheat for threshers When i was off paxil for 4 months went cold turkey due to financial issues That thresher owners said me that you are on marijuana, i said no, he like i have an experience of 40 years on marijuna how you can deny that Then three or four guys banged on me and searched my whole body if there is any stuff I was so demotivated that time that I wasn't able to retaliate them Being a cricket player on any other day i would have punched those guys That day i realise im a moving corpse Its been 13 months feeling little better apart from reading, creative and social interactions and facing some periodical episodes of anxiety, Past regrets, body fatigue even doing small physical activities You are right spirit is important but i cant perform the namaz which are compulsory in my religion But one thing is sure that things will improve slowly and steadily
did you have any sound sensitivity during your withdrawal? everything is so loud right now and that is one symptom that is bothering me.. hopefully it goes away soon
I was on beta blockers (and two other bp meds at the time), but this wasn't because of wd. I had been put on those over the years by pill-happy doctors and because I wasn't paying enough attention to caring for my health naturally. Eventually I got off those, too.
@TheLovelyGrind Thank you for this. I'm glad you're out of most of your meds and doing good now. I was on beta initially for short term to help me counter the fast hear Rate during panic attacks (while I was on benzo and AD). I got off them soon, but now I'm wondering if I can get back on those to help me deal with with withdrawal related tachycardia. Anyway thanks again! Your doing a great job inspiring so many!
@TheLovelyGrind Thanks for letting me know amd I'm glad that you're out of most of your meds amd are doing good! Your doing a great job inspiring all of us who are still struggling. I was prescribed beta to deal with fast HR during panic attacks along with benzo and AD and used it short term and quit it soon. Wondering if I could use them now to help me counter this withdrawal related tachycardia. Anyway I'm planning to give it a try. Thanks again
@@TheLovelyGrindso it was mostly a wave and then you healed all of the sudden or? When were you able to say there were no limiting symptoms that were arising due to the withdrawal from either xanax or Paxil? And then when would you say that you were “healed”?
I tapered a little on the SSRI, but it was closer to a cold turkey, basically halving the meds and then waiting a while and stopping (to the best of my recollection). I should have tapered the Paxil more slowly and carefully, as I did with the benzos. It would have likely made things a little easier. Gradual tapering is recommended.
I don't really have any medication specific thoughts. They're basically all the same to me at this point - worthless. If you feel you need a med. right now then fine, but I would begin working on yourself and working on a plan to eventually taper off. It doesn't have to be done this second, but not a bad idea to begin thinking about a gradual taper in the future in the context of improving health long-term. Take care!
@@Phin13760 - How did you get off mirtazapine? I've tapered to roughly 1.875 mg per day (roughly one-fourth of a 7.5 mg tablet using water titration) but my symptoms are nearly intolerable, and it seems I'll never be able to come off completely.
Hi there. I am new on your channel. Good info's you are giving us. I am now at 6 months off of lexapro, after 3,5 years on it. It is very hard. But wanted to ask, during your withdrawal have You used something like diazepam, to calm the symptoms. Ty
I was tapering Xanax after I had already quit the Paxil, so yes I was taking Xanax as I was dealing with Paxil withdrawal, but it was because I was in the taper process. I wouldn't add medications to "ease" withdrawal if possible. That just keeps the medication/withdrawal cycle going. The aim is to put that cycle to bed forever, even if it is difficult in the short term. Not easy all the time, but possible and worth it.
@@ajvenable7937 For many people, myself included, the SSRI withdrawal can be very tough as well. But yes, the benzo withdrawal can be tough too. If anyone can avoid the pills in the first place, that is the best idea!

What do you think it is possible to taper Seroxat after 15 years on it? I managed to taper to 6 mg had bad WD symptoms last year updosed to 10 mg now I feel stable but I am afraid to taper again. My dose was always 20 mg so at least I am on half of it
You could try tapering very very slowly. I know it might not be easy to cut up your pills (or perhaps you can find a liquid form of your medication?) but I would suggest dropping your dose by about 2 milligrams, so if you go down from 10 milligrams to 8 and see what happens. Stay on 8 for about 2 months and see how you feel and if you stabilise at 8 then you could try going down even more. Slow and steady is definitely the best way to taper. This does mean it may take quite a long time to get off the meds completely but it did help me to avoid the most serious withdrawal symptoms and I was able to function a lot better this way
Hello I would like to ask you I hope you can see my comment cuestion and you can reply, I was in xanax for 40 days. 05 at night and half during the day almost one mg I stopped it 20 days ago and Valium 15 days ago I struggled with insomnia and depression anxiety and low blood pressure and weakness are this withdrawal sintoms and when do yo think it will go away, thank you I hope you're doing well
As you've maybe heard before, there is no way to predict exactly when something will go away. But, given that you weren't on the medication for very long, the withdrawal shouldn't be extremely lengthy. That being said, remember that there were reasons you were on the medications in the first place, and those will have to be dealt with naturally. So, bottom line, find ways to relax and distract the mind. This helps with anxiety, stress, and fear as you move forward!

A part of the withdrawal and healing experience is always going to involve coming to terms and finally dealing with some of the reasons we got on meds in the first place - anxiety, depression, grief, etc. That being said, at 6 weeks off of 16 years of SSRI use, I would venture to say that the majority of what you are going through is withdrawal related at the moment. In the future, the time will come to get better at solving the pre-existing issues, but for now it might be more about withdrawal coping and survival. Hope that helps a bit ...
@@TheLovelyGrind ''In the future, the time will come to get better at solving the pre-existing issues, but for now it might be more about withdrawal coping and survival. Hope that helps a bit ...'' Oke could be, but what about the people that say they have been feeling this for YEARS?? In the Netherlands we have about 1 mil users of A.D's. from what i see and learn, on other platform something like whitdraw surival forum or something, people are paranoid? In theire eyes everything is the cause of whitdraw... First i feel more anxity because of these statements, second i doubt it a bit... like i said in my story, ive bin on the meds because of a probem, it helped, i had my ups and downs. but not strong enough evidence to say it helped me for the long term. so now i quit en feel shit again. but how do we know its the whithdraw or just my symptoms? or in other words also theire symptoms from people who are convinced its from the AD> i understan what you say it could be now shit because of the whithdraw...
those are neuro emotions and often times they are confused with the original reason you were put on the meds anxiety/depression/panic/ocd it's all the symptoms of withdrawal
I went into interdose withdrawal before I started my taper. I wasn't stable when I started so needless to say I have interdose withdrawals. I wonder if I should updose and start my taper again after I stabilize if that's possible at this point. Any thoughts?
Interdose withdrawals won't stop necessarily with more of the medication, and updosing will just give you a longer road going back down to 0 mg. There can be a place for slight movements upward in a taper if a cut is too large or something, but by and large I think that if the goal is to get off the meds then just get moving forward. I think that the "stability" really comes when a person is totally off the meds for a while. Take care!
God bless any of those who are suffering with withdrawal.
And God bless, you! Take care!

Great way to look at it. This process can force us to "slow down" in ways we didn't wish for or anticipate, but the question is then how do we use that time! It can be a blessing! Use it to restore and find yourself.

Going through withdrawals right now, fucking hell. Depression, sleep issues, MAJOR Fatigue!!!

Great video Michael.
Thanks Corinne! Glad you enjoyed it!
Take care!
Thank you, Michael! Your videos are so inspiring and encouraging!

Thats alchol story is true to me
Im a farmer in india, life here in india is not easy as yours
One day i was picking up the bundles of wheat for threshers
When i was off paxil for 4 months went cold turkey due to financial issues
That thresher owners said me that you are on marijuana, i said no, he like i have an experience of 40 years on marijuna how you can deny that
Then three or four guys banged on me and searched my whole body if there is any stuff
I was so demotivated that time that I wasn't able to retaliate them
Being a cricket player on any other day i would have punched those guys
That day i realise im a moving corpse
Its been 13 months feeling little better apart from reading, creative and social interactions and facing some periodical episodes of anxiety,
Past regrets, body fatigue even doing small physical activities
You are right spirit is important but i cant perform the namaz which are compulsory in my religion
But one thing is sure that things will improve slowly and steadily
did you have any sound sensitivity during your withdrawal? everything is so loud right now and that is one symptom that is bothering me.. hopefully it goes away soon
Sensitivities are very common in withdrawal - sound, light, stress, etc. These sorts of things will settle down as time goes on.
Hi sir. Your videos are very inspirational. I'd like to ask you if you used any beta blockers to lower your heart rate during withdrawals?
Did you have waves and windows?
Some, but more of a steady battle in my experience.
@@TheLovelyGrindso it was mostly a wave and then you healed all of the sudden or? When were you able to say there were no limiting symptoms that were arising due to the withdrawal from either xanax or Paxil? And then when would you say that you were “healed”?
did you taper off of Paxil or go cold turkey?
I tapered a little on the SSRI, but it was closer to a cold turkey, basically halving the meds and then waiting a while and stopping (to the best of my recollection). I should have tapered the Paxil more slowly and carefully, as I did with the benzos. It would have likely made things a little easier. Gradual tapering is recommended.

Mirtazipine? Any thoughts on the medication
Take care!

What do you think it is possible to taper Seroxat after 15 years on it? I managed to taper to 6 mg had bad WD symptoms last year updosed to 10 mg now I feel stable but I am afraid to taper again. My dose was always 20 mg so at least I am on half of it
It certainly is possible. It will be a challenge, but it certainly is possible! Congrats on getting down to 10mg by the way!

Take care!
