    This Lions team was stacked,and they were as hot as any team in the NFL coming into this game. Nationally it was assumed the Eagles were going to get destroyed, even locally the fan base had kinda accepted they were going to get smoked,and were just happy they made the playoffs. Well we all know how it played out, and the final score doesn't indicate how much of a one sided game this really was. Unfortunately, they got smoked a week later in Dallas, but at least they got this one.

      He averaged over 1,700 yards from scrimmage during the 4 season period of time where he actually got to start. He came close to achieving the super rare 1,000-1,000 yard season in 2002 with 968 rushing yards and 941 receiving yards for the Raiders. He somehow only made one pro-bowl and it wasn’t in 2002. He was undervalued and underrated his entire career. The Eagles had him for 5 years and never gave him a shot at being the featured running back. He killed it for 2 years in San Francisco but they let him walk in favor of Garrison Hearst. Then he killed it again for 2 years in Oakland before injuries and age finally got to him. He would’ve accumulated some really impressive career totals if he got the ball as much as he should have in Philadelphia.

    I live near Philly but a Lions fan. I remember that Lomas Brown quote coming out the week leading up to the game. All I could see in my head was a comic strip of a truck (Lions) and small car (Eagles) about to run into each other...a cloud of smoke...then the small car still going while the truck was destroyed. And then the game happened. *facepalm*

      @@southbeachtalent Barry was a more exciting runner but Emmitt was the better overall RB. Barry was terrible in short yardage and goal line sets, he lost a ton of yardage trying to hit the big play instead of just riding his blocks for 1 or 2 yards and wearing out a defense the way Emmitt did, and in pass blocking he was a huge liability.

    No offense to Philly here, but on paper the Lions should've won. As they we're overall better overall as a team, the main reason though is that Scott Mitchell apparently had a fetish for throwing it at white jerseys. Also it was blatantly obvious that Fontes didn't prepare the team at all for this game. As they looked completely lost when they actually faced a team with a rushing attack. No, let it be known this right here is the worst playoff game the Lions have ever played. Because we got robbed against the Cowboys, we never had a shot against Redskins (both times) or the Saints, it was a long shot against Dungy and the Bucs, we had a few bad breaks against The Packers And we shouldn't have made the playoffs against the Seahawks that year. This one though is one that was winnable, and Scott Mitchell turned into a pumpkin. No diss on the Eagles, I rooted for you guys against the Pats. Good luck defending your Superbowl.

    • @roguegust8832
      @roguegust8832 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On paper you're right. The 1995 Eagles averaged 19 points per game and had a negative point differential. We had no real passing game though we were a deadly rushing team, our defense was solid though. The difference was that Lomas Brown opened his big fat mouth and motivated us, Fontes was a bad coach frankly even though players liked him, and Scott Mitchell could absolutely not play in any game that mattered (or in any game played outdoors seemingly). Perriman getting hurt during the game did not help and since they were behind so quickly and by so much it took away Barry Sanders,
