Thinking the same thing too after watching this theory. I always found the stories of Joker messing with Batman after torturing those close to him, especially his Robins. So does that mean Harley did this to Tim Drake because her actual 'Puddin' is dead to replace him?
imagine a future movie to fix suicide squad joker (no way they would do this) BUT cannon this entire theory, then make harley the reason tim drake has all those tattoos, she put them on him and rewrote his past, trying to turn him into her puppet, using those tattoos as "proof" of her stories about his past, to create a partner more "damaged" then she is so she seems "normal" by comparison. in a future movie, letos joker being put on blast by the REAL joker who harley was inspired to make this puppet of. "real joker" could be quippy and say things like "you thought him, to be me? dont... make.. me.... laugh...." real joker then coming out of hiding >for whatever reason he was in hiding, superman maybe, plotting< , harley sees the real "mr J" and leaves leto to seek her "true puddin" , leaving tim drake to have an identity crises, batman attempting to have him remember who he is and failing, having to put him down, big sad. breaking the bat man, making him have a bloodlust to see real joker dead. joker having had time to have a plan, a crew, a plan withen his original plan with backup plans of backup plans, bad puns at every turn which he laughs at, harley trying to get his attention only to have him push her aside,... like out a window. but her obsession she only enhanced by her time together with her watered down creation (tim drake), haves her to try again and again, so joker "agrees" to use her as a pawn, to get the batman close, only to toy with him further. as batman saw harley as a reminder of his lost partner, wanting to save her from herself because he couldnt save tim from HImself. from TIMSELF if you would. this sets up plent of motivations, cleans up the past joker, brings in a better designed joker to be a bigger threat. gives harley more screentime with actual reason for her being there. playing on her mental illness, giving joker a proper "relationship" with her. fan service to have robin in the movies, a new low point for batman. could even have real joker reference how poor of an imitation tim drake was, and how insulting it was for harley to latch onto tim with himself in mind. this didnt take much thought, just a jumping off point, i tried to keep it short, hope you enjoyed my fan fic that i made up as i went.
Loved this video, but i think the bullet holes on the robin suit compared to the joker's scars is the most telling reason. That's not a mistake, nor a coincidence.
In Teen Titans go, Robin is the one to dress up as Jared’s joker when they are all doing a bit about the different movie franchise Jokers of the last decade… Coincidence?
Technically red hood is an anti hero. Not a villain. He's just misunderstood for killing rapists and murderers and was originally labeled as a villain by Batman.
@Shik. M. I believe you were wrong. He was asked the weirdest thing he has heard said about the movie. Also the answer he gave wouldn't make much sense. Why say "that jason Todd is not the joker" and not "No, jason Todd isn't the joker."
@Shik. M. am probably dumb and I apologize but I dont understand how this helps your statement. Tho it doesn't harm it either. I never claimed he said that the joker was jason Todd I said he said the opposite that the joker is not jason Todd.
@Shik. M. saying "No, jason Todd isn't the joker" means you are responding to yes or no question. While "that Jason Todd is the joker" is referring to a question that isn't yes or no like in this case where he was asked the weirdest thing said about the movie he wasn't asked if Jason Todd is the killer.
in Snyder Cut Justice League, in the xtended scene when Bruce Wayne got the dream, meeting with Joker, the dialogue was actually supporting this theory.

A Nightwing Movie featuring Dick Grayson is coming helmed by the director of the Lego Batman Movie announced a few months ago. He isnt dead. In synders original draft all of Batman's allies were dead, to make Batman a Killer with no Hope left. Though WB changed things for future installments. Both Grayson & Gordon have upcoming roles in the DCEU now. As for the Tim Drake Joker thing. He was only turned into Joker because the DCAU couldn't do the Jason Todd death on Tv, due to censorship. So the 2nd Animated Robin was a combination of Jason's Origin and attitude + Drake' s name and detective skills. Lastly suicide squad Harley Quinn killed a Robin prior to BVS. Which the SS director stated shortly after the film's release. In early cuts of the film, Harley's bio said this as well. The dead Robin was confirmed to be Todd. Geoff johns first Batman film script was suppose to center around arkham asylum & setting up a future appearance of Red Hood. Though Afleck didn't like the script and has since dropped out being director. Red Hood is rumored to appear due to increased popularity & will most likely show up as a main villain in a Batman Movie. Synder's vision was changed, but Jimmy is still dead. In closing, Grayson will be Nightwing with the plot taking place after BVS. The director doesn't want to do an origin story though, so it probably center around one of his Chuck Dixon stories and in Gothams sister city Bludhaven.
kNIGHTWING01 it would be cool to see tim and dick team up in the nightwing movie like tim is trying to get the hang of being robin so dick teaches him because jason is red hood though i would like to see jasons ressurection.
Bc filmakers will say "it was just a nod, not canon" Bc Hollywood really doesnt give two craps about continuity, actually neither do the comics. Every writer kinda just does what they want as long as it sells.
Now they're having a stand alone Joker movie, with Jared Leto, and a Joker: Origins... with Joaquin Phoenix. I think this is a good indicator of the "Robin turned Joker in the movie" theory being true.
sassonfire Yeah, as of June Leto was slated to star and direct in his own Joker movie. With the Joaquin Phoenix movie, and all the nods to a Robin gone bad in B-man vs. S-man, it's cemented that this is the case (in my mind, at least)! I mean, like you said, why would they have 2 different people?! Maybe the director is trying to be clever ("it's not Jason Todd"), by using one of the other Robin's names, but doing the same story line. One of the things that makes it so hard to believe him is.... in B Vs. S, one of the most iconic shots recreates the cover of one of the comics for the Jason Todd storyline. It all just points to it, and if I'm right... I'm going to be so frickin' giddy! Lol
sassonfire m.ign.com/articles/2018/06/05/jared-letos-joker-getting-his-own-movie I want to say, I haven't checked on this in a couple of months. So, there might be new news completely debunking my theory, but here's an article mentioning that they're both doing one.

MatPat would've been great as a recurring character in the Big Bang Theory. Sheldon would hold a ton of grudges against him, then begin to have the utmost respect for the guy that makes him doubt everything.
Hey Film Theorists, with the new Pirates of the Caribbean recently released, can you make a video trying to find out how old Jack Sparrow is? Because he seems to never age throughout the series. Plus you could make a conspiracy as to the reason he never ages. (like if you want it to happen)
Throughout the movies he always tried to find some thing that would help him to live forever. In first one we can argue that he would go with the coins if there were no sideeffects (which all the cursed crew had) and in the second and third he wanted to stab Davy´s heart so he would become captain of Dutchman and live forever, BUT! dying Orlando crossed his plan. So he set sail for the fountain of youth which happened to be destroyed (and requiring someone else life to give you some extra years to live) and since in fifth one he acts like he suddenly does not care about not dying, we can assume that somewhere in between those years (between forth and fifth movie) he found some other thing that earned him eternal youth (or adulthood), or gave him some extra years. So... it would be fair to say that he already found what he was looking for and now is just wandering around, getting drunk more than ever cause his quest came finally to the end. Even in fifth one (spoiler alert) he says in the end when asked by Gibbs where off to, he says that they will go by stars. Yeah, it is reference to Carina, but suddenly Jack has no plan were of to and what else could give him an eternal life? Hmm, suspicious. Or maybe he just got over it and dont care anymore, but that is not likely.
Yeah, that's standard reveal philosophy, as seen in every mystery show ever. If you start with your strong evidence the last things people here is you making a bunch of weak points. Even if you started out with the murderer CONFESSING, the audience will be kinda bored and/or sceptical by the time you finish all the little bits about ToD and fingerprints. If you start with the weak stuff and work your way in, you build in strength and conviction as you go, until you're hammering it home like a home dunk. It's a much more entertaining experience for the audience.
@@dannyboi4313 although this is true, he could still always become canon in the DCEU even though he isnt right now. take harley quinn for instance, she first appeared in the batman animated series which wasnt canon, but she became such a beloved character that she became canon in comics, tv, and movies. also with joker, he was only supposed to appear as a filler character and a one-off villain but he came very beloved by fans and now he's the most iconic batman villain and possibly the most iconic villain ever.

I love this theory it was the first film/game/food theory I ever watched and it got me invested. That was 4 years ago and I still go back and rewatch it sometimes. One of my favorite theorys ever
So this is for those that are interested in knowing a little more about DCU/ what some of the comments are talking about. 1. There are actually more than 4 Robins all together in DCU- Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Stephanie Brown, Carrie Kelly, Duke Thomas. However, Matpat did say the 4 'main' robins, in which I assume would be the 4 most iconic robins: Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian; and for the rest of the comments, i'll only be focusing on these 4. 2. All Robins did indeed have an iconic/ trademark weapon used. However, some only started using them after they left the robin identity behind, and taking on a new cover. Dick (as Nightwing) uses Eskrima Sticks, Jason (as Red Hood) uses guns as a rebellious way against Bruce's policy/principle about using guns, Tim (both as Robin and Red Robin) uses a staff, and Damian uses Katana Swords. 3. Dick once had an ancestor with the same name as he did. Therefore the name on the gravestone could have been Dick's dead relative instead. A solo Nightwing movie has been confirmed as well (2019), so it is highly unlikely Robin Dick Grayson is dead in DCEU. (Edit: Some of the comments also talked about another theory, which would be Dick faking his death and becoming a secret Spy. This would follow the comics 'Grayson', afther the 'Nightwing' series had ended, in case some of you guys were interested in checking it out!) 4. Most people, including me, thinks that the robin tattoo is more of Joker's way of showing off that he managed to kill off Jason. 5. The line where Bruce said 'How many good guys are left, and how many stayed that way?' while looking at the Robin suit could be Bruce referring to Jason. Depending if Jason in DCEU has revived yet, and depending if Bruce has already found out about Jason being Red Hood, we have to remember that Red Hood has always been more of an anti-hero. So, if that line being said in that scene wasn't a coincidence, it could be Bruce reference to Jason as an anti-hero that kills rather than a Joker-Tim. I, however, really enjoyed the theory! And I think it's awesome how Matpat has talked about DC multiple times despite the complexity, depth, and history behind DCU as a whole. Thank you for the video!
Comic nerd alert. You confuse yourself. Educate yourself with taking all that shit and condensing it to fit into the movie world. TFT's theory is correct and makes sense. You're theory is just filled with extra junk only comic dicks would know. We don't give a shit... tell that to DC. Tell that to Zach. Tell that to anyone. They'll say fuck you. Hero Hour Hi, i am also a avid comic nerd and I'm genraly confused on you problem with his comment, it was genraly well thought out and respectful to Matt Patt's original theroy, even to the point of him thanking him for the video. I'm also confused that you imply that his theroy is invalid because it has elements from the comics are in it. Matt Patt's did as well, and you should never considered a THEROY law. And its a comic movie, so of course its gonna have compatisons drawn to it, heck snyder bassed BvS mostly of dark knight returns, and jokers tats are even a refrance to his apperance in All Star Batman and Robin, with his dragon tattoo on his back. So of course theres gonna be comparesons drawn to the comics, because the film makers put them in there as easter eggs! And im not saying that because im a comic fan, it because these comics are why the movies where made! If suicide squad wasn't bassed off an edtablished poperty no one would watch it, and even more people would hate it. Until you realize their are currently 3 spiderman characters and 3 different types of venoms all living in the same universe. I mean you realize how many people have been venom?
It would be pretty damn stupid if they did kill off Dick Grayson/ Nightwing... He's one of the most beloved characters in DC, if they'd kill him off they'd loose a lot of fans. Since Grayson was the original Robin and most people believe he was the best one, if he were to be dead in the DCEU it would piss a lot of people off.
Once again assuming they make these movies for comic book nerds, and not the general movie-going public who doesn't give a shit about minor details and minor characters. I didn't even know there was more than one robin until a few years ago, and I still don't care.
Betts because the new Joker is when bruce was a kid and it’s impossible for him to battle full grown Batman, so the new Joker inspires the TDK Joker and he killed Jason Todd
Am I the only one who remembers the comic where Robin kills Harley Quinn and the Jokers BABY!!! and the scene in suicide squad where the Joker lays in the middle of a knife filled floor with BABY CLOTHING in the corner, and then the joker does this really psychotic laugh and all of us villain lovers melt.
here’s a theory for you mat pat The reason why Batman never kills the joker it’s because when he was younger the joker saved him from the shooter that killed his parents
AND Zack Snyder said it was bullshit : www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/batman-v-superman-zack-snyder-debunks-joker-was-robin-fan-theory-a6963756.html
This actually can be true because of this Batman always fights joker and wins but..... He never kills the joker so that can lead to Joker being Robin Hope you enjoyed my potato theory
A couple of problems I have with this theory: 1. That bird tattoo is probably more of a 'trophy' to show off the fact that Joker has killed a Robin in his past 2. If this wasn't the real Joker, then everyone in Gotham would know. No one, including Amanda Waller, Batman or the crime lords, gave any sort of indication that this was a new 'Robin' joker - for instance, when Batman saves Harley surely he would've said something like 'you broke him' 3. Harley Quinn's origin story makes more sense if it was the original Joker who corrupted her 4. I read somewhere the Jared Leto commented on the 'damaged tattoo' and said that it was a symbol for the fact that this Joker has had a long history with Batman and has gained many scars from their encounters But those are just my thoughts
Matpat: the creative team killed jimmy olsen, they are stupid because they are messing with the lore." *5 minutes later* Matpat: "the creative team won't make Tim drake the joker, they're too scared to mess with the lore"
Vyers Reaver I'm not sure. I learned about most of it from researching it on the internet. It's referenced in stuff every now and then, it shouldn't be TOO hard to find.
I love this video because when I clicked on it for the first time I only saw part of the title which was "Film Theory: Is Suicide Squad's Joker ACTUALLY Batman's Boy-" and my brain automatically filled the gap with "friend. His boyfriend". Now I'd watched the Lego Batman a lot so I didn't think to question it at all, which is still so funny to me
In the court of owls arc of the new 52 night wing it is revealed that Dick has an ancestor named Richard and it doesn't make sense for Dick to be dead since we are getting a nightwing movie...
Also if we are taking age into consideration let's take in to count the fact that Dick Grayson WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ALIVE at the time of the Wayne family's burial its most improbable that the grave is his. And because we don't see him at all we can assume that Damien Wayne isn't around yet so it is extremely likely that Tim Drake is still robin
Kaiden Cunningham the movies don't tie in to the comics, because then (spoiler alert) batman would be dead in the movies because joker killed him in new 52 "end game"
"Maybe she was trying to erase something specific..." or maybe SHE DIDN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM YET. She wasn't Harley Quinn when she did the electroshock therapy, she slowly fell in love with him, she didn't know anything about him
This is one of your less thought through theories. Lots of it relies on the fact that Dr Quinzel was already Harley Quinn, but she was just doing her job with the electroshock therapy. And she has always been naive before she fell in love with Joker. Definitely too innocent to want to brainwash Robin into becoming the Joker.
Robin was already turning into the Joker. Harley fell in love with the Joker side of Robin's personality, and then used electroshock therapy to remove the Robin bits.
you is right i made a comment up there before i saw yours but you have the same points as i do also (there was no electroshock therapy confirmed? like i dont remember there being shock on the joker unless my memory is bad)
If you think about it, batman is literally an abusive guardian. He takes teens into his care and makes them to fight dangerous criminals. They might want to, but any good parent/guardian would try to at least make them wait untill they are adults to go out fighting crime.
He does try to stop them, and always trains them first, plus he has tried to no end to keep them safe in all other aspects, if he said no, they'd still do it, just a lot less safe. For example, Damian was told he wasn't to be Robin, and he did it anyway, almost got killed. Jason was told he couldn't go for the Joker on his own, he did anyways, got killed. It's to be expected that they'd do it anyways, if he just says yes then it will be on his terms with equipment and training
This theory is even more interesting after watching Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

First time I heard David say that “Jason Todd” isn’t the joker I was like you didn’t say that robin isn’t the joker.
@Shik.
@Shik. M. I looked back at the comment and you see right and wrong I forgot to put in not that's why. So sorry again it should make more sense.
@Shik. M. saying "No, jason Todd isn't the joker" means you are responding to yes or no question. While "that Jason Todd is the joker" is referring to a question that isn't yes or no like in this case where he was asked the weirdest thing said about the movie he wasn't asked if Jason Todd is the killer.

The director doesn't want to do an origin story though, so it probably center around one of his Chuck Dixon stories and in Gothams sister city Bludhaven.

but how can Dick Grayson be Nightwing if he's dead
Bc filmakers will say "it was just a nod, not canon" Bc Hollywood really doesnt give two craps about continuity, actually neither do the comics. Every writer kinda just does what they want as long as it sells.
5 years later this video is still better than the original Suicide Squad
Tbh it wasn't as good as The suicide squad but it wasn't that bad
Now they're having a stand alone Joker movie, with Jared Leto, and a Joker: Origins... with Joaquin Phoenix. I think this is a good indicator of the "Robin turned Joker in the movie" theory being true.
phillysteak419 I didn't know Jared was doing a Joker movie...why two Joker movies with two different actors? Unless this isn't theory, but fact..
sassonfire Yeah, as of June Leto was slated to star and direct in his own Joker movie. Lol

Maybe you can ask his wife how old he is. Wait he doesn't have one. Cause he bashed her. Remember?
good idea
Fountain of Youth?

If you start with your strong evidence the last things people here is you making a bunch of weak points. Even if you started out with the murderer CONFESSING, the audience will be kinda bored and/or sceptical by the time you finish all the little bits about ToD and fingerprints.
If you start with the weak stuff and work your way in, you build in strength and conviction as you go, until you're hammering it home like a home dunk. It's a much more entertaining experience for the audience.

This whole thing makes sense considering Joaquin Phoenix is the joker in 2019’s Joker film
Joaquin's joker is in a different universe the new joker movie doesn't take place in the DCEU unfortunately
@@cXspXr considering the critical response of the new Joker movie that does seem possible and I for one would welcome Jaquin's jojer instead of whatever the hell Jared Leto was
How the hell are you linking this with Phoenix's Joker, seriously this comment is a joke
@@dannyboi4313 also a good thing to point out is the years they take place and the jokers ages, joaquin's joker is probably around 35 and theres a very young bruce (9-12 years old), leto's joker is also about 35. suicide squad takes place in 2016 and the joker movie takes place in 1985. this means joaquin's joker would be about 55. that sounds like a very reasonable age to retire/die as the joker but want to continue the ideology of the joker. maybe joaquin turned tim drake into the new joker, jared leto. also, it's noted that dick grayson is dead in this universe. maybe joaquin killed that joker and transformed the next robin (tim) into the new joker. it sounds far fetched but i think itd be a cool character arch for both batman and joker.

I love this theory it was the first
film/game/food theory I ever watched and it got me invested.
This would follow the comics 'Grayson', afther the 'Nightwing' series had ended, in case some of you guys were interested in checking it out!)

(By the way I do recomend reading comic's, there way better that the films in my openion) It just sucks that the comment section has to be so toxic, why can't we just keep it civil? Naomi Wilson i thing that they were on drugs when making DCEU
shhhhhhhhhhh... anyone who does not care if my beloved is dead shall be shushed.
Once again assuming they make these movies for comic book nerds, and not the general movie-going public who doesn't give a shit about minor details and minor characters.
I didn't even know there was more than one robin until a few years ago, and I still don't care.
“Three robins”
Damian Wayne:.....
Stephanie Brown:....
Duke Thomas:.....
all: are we a joke to you?!
Duke Thomas is something different than a Robin in Batman's own words
He’s the signal
Helena Wayne. Carrie Kelly. Stephanie Brown...
On you said Stephanie
@@pariahdog8733 while you are right they technically aren’t canon or from the same universe/continuity.
Funny how this guy comes out with these weird theories but makes them sound so believable

Theory: The Joker from the new Joker movie is the OG Joker that turned Jason Todd into the Suicide Squad Joker.
Betts because the new Joker is when bruce was a kid and it’s impossible for him to battle full grown Batman, so the new Joker inspires the TDK Joker and he killed Jason Todd
OG Joker = Heath Ledger
OJ Joker: 50s campy Tv Joker
No...
@@theemeraldminecrafter2078 Nobody give a shit about what you think.
Nena Lopez AHEM robin kills in injustice 2
I believe it was said that the baby clothes in suicide squad was something Harley took from one of the victims joker killed
Anonymous A. 😂💖
starstudios49 ! I disagree on the laugh though.
Mckenzie Murdoch How so?
here’s a theory for you mat pat The reason why Batman never kills the joker it’s because when he was younger the joker saved him from the shooter that killed his parents
is it just me or is matpat going through an obsession with his "true identity" theories?
TheRetroKid 101 His last few theories were boring, not really close to the ones that made me sub.
Aditya Shukla agreed
MatPat is actually Jason. You heard it first here.
AND Zack Snyder said it was bullshit : www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/batman-v-superman-zack-snyder-debunks-joker-was-robin-fan-theory-a6963756.html

Matpat: there's at least three robins
Me: *looks at Damian, Stephanie and Carrie* sorry guys guess you're not in this one
Cake Gutzz So sad 😭😭😭 My poor neglected Robins
well, he did say at least, not at most.
and that new one.
Cake Gutzz Carrie hardly counts. She's an elseworld character
Rassberry Milkshake Duke isn't a Robin he is Duke
This actually can be true because of this Batman always fights joker and wins but.....
He never kills the joker so that can lead to Joker being Robin
Hope you enjoyed my potato theory
Jennie Ales woah i actually agree holy shit yeah that’s why he doesn’t even really hurt the dude
nah batman doesn’t kill the joker because it’s against his moral code which states he can never kill his opponents
Jennie Ales actually, Batman will never kill anyone, he believes everyone has a chance of redemption
Batman that didn't stop you in batman v superman
Darn it I was looking through the comments to see if anyone already said this and u did so good job
Matt patt: joker isn't older than batman
Joker 2019: *sweating intensified*
Ikr he was batman's age when he was 5
A couple of problems I have with this theory:
1. That bird tattoo is probably more of a 'trophy' to show off the fact that Joker has killed a Robin in his past
2. If this wasn't the real Joker, then everyone in Gotham would know. No one, including Amanda Waller, Batman or the crime lords, gave any sort of indication that this was a new 'Robin' joker - for instance, when Batman saves Harley surely he would've said something like 'you broke him'
3. Harley Quinn's origin story makes more sense if it was the original Joker who corrupted her
4. I read somewhere the Jared Leto commented on the 'damaged tattoo' and said that it was a symbol for the fact that this Joker has had a long history with Batman and has gained many scars from their encounters
But those are just my thoughts
BUT THAT'S JUST SOME THOUGHTS, SOME RTE FILMS THOUGHTS!
RTE Films Nice👍
The Joker NEVER returned Harley's affections.
RTE Films Whatever, I bet you don't even have a beard.
RTE Films 5 : tim came after harly
Thought that the "How many stayed that way" line was about two face
Nick The Greek same here
Nick The Greek lol
Thats what i thought too.😋
That could be true i guess we'll have to wait and see
cray cray dawg da fuck? Most of those arent even from Gotham...
U must get such a headache putting all this together
Matpat “zoom in and enhance it” me “bro that says nothing”
Matpat: the creative team killed jimmy olsen, they are stupid because they are messing with the lore."
*5 minutes later*
Matpat: "the creative team won't make Tim drake the joker, they're too scared to mess with the lore"
If this theory is true than it's easy to bring Phoenix's joker into the DCEU
No the real joker's name is Jack Napier not arthur fleck so if jared's joker is tim then who is jack napier?
tooth brush that’s not canon anymore homie
No please- WB can fuck this up
@@gabsdelacruz7308 arthur fleck was adopted and the name was given by his crazy mom, so his real name?
RetroMario it’s not even close to the truth.
Being a Robin with brown hair, you looked like the guy from the Lego Batman movie

The shark one looks like LEGO batman
Briggsrocks59 no he means Robin from that movie I’m pretty sure
"I'll be happy to discuss with you, why would you send the boy wonder to do a man's job"

Fun fact: Damian Wayne was actually the Joker all along in an alternate universe in the comics

Mc Jimmerson Bruce Wayne is actually alive again
Mc Jimmerson Bruce Wayne didn't die he faked it and Dick Grayson took over until he came back...

Wow, Jason Todd wrote this
"Maybe she was trying to erase something specific..." or maybe SHE DIDN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM YET.
Loblolly0228 Gaming Exactly what I was thinking
Robin was already turning into the Joker. Harley fell in love with the Joker side of Robin's personality, and then used electroshock therapy to remove the Robin bits.
I'm pretty sure she started falling in love with him while she was his therapist.
you is right i made a comment up there before i saw yours but you have the same points as i do also (there was no electroshock therapy confirmed? like i dont remember there being shock on the joker unless my memory is bad)
It's to be expected that they'd do it anyways, if he just says yes then it will be on his terms with equipment and training
to be honest if he didn't i'd say 4 of them would've become assassins or murderers and the other 2 would be homeless orphans
