These are great Ste. The thing I like about painting them is that virtually anything goes; and it doesn't really matter whether they are historically accurate. They will always look good massed together.
Cheers Pat and definitely agree with you about Landsknechts. I have a few reference books but these are more for research than colour schemes etc. When I paint them it's really sort of adding random bright colours! 😃👍
That's awesome, thanks Philip! The actual miniatures themselves are really nice crisp sculpts and they paint up very well. The hardest part of the process is deciding which colours to use and on what 😃👍
Cheers Martin and definitely agree with you there! I think of all the things I've painted over the last few years, Landsknechts have been the most challenging but most rewarding. They can be really time consuming but the end result is always worth it 😃👍
They look brown well done with the painting very colourful a well done for doing 3 drummers they go look great with your terrain your sorting out brilliant well done👍👍👍🤠🤠🤠
Thank you, much appreciated! I don't actually mind painting Landsknecht drummers which probably sounds pretty strange. Always enjoy painting Landsknechts though 😃👍
Thanks Leslie, these have definitely been a step outside of my painting comfort zone but have certainly been worth the extra time and effort I've put into them 😃👍
Thanks Darrin, much appreciated! I really never thought I'd enjoy painting bright colours especially not in some of these combinations. But its always an enjoyable project to work on 😃👍
Holy Coloured Codpieces Batman! Fantastic looking work! Really glad to hear you are still chipping away at this one - take your time, the results you are getting are fantastic :)
Cheers Stu! Yes, I've been working at this on and off for a while now. I'll usually paint a couple of bases and then move onto something else. I think if I tried to batch paint these, the quality would dip pretty quickly and I'd lose all interest. The slow and steady approach seems to be working 😃👍
Thank you, much appreciated! I would certainly recommend painting Landsknechts if you're looking for something different. I found the bright colours quite intimidating at first but once you get into your own technique for painting them, I find time to be quite therapeutic to paint 😃👍
Cheers Justin, of all the projects I've worked on recently I'm actually really proud of these. Not something I ever thought I'd end up painting but I'm glad that I did 😃👍
Cheers buddy! It took a lot of getting used to having painted mostly WW2 miniatures for many years. It has grown on me and definitely much easier to paint these days 😃👍
That's awesome, cheers Shaun! As I said in the video, they can be time consuming to paint but the overall look of a finished unit is absolutely worth the time put into them 😃👍
Thank you, much appreciated! Using bright colours has definitely taking a lot of getting used to but the overall look when they are ranked up makes it worth while 😃👍
The Warlord Games Landsknechts make for a great alternative to older WFB Empire army miniatures, and I was sourcing a load for such a project myself, and then GW relaunched Fantasy Battle as The Old World and are slowly re-releasing the armies so made that project redundant LOL. Still paired up with Atlantic Game's Halflings and Ogre Landsknechts they produce and you do get an impressive cheaper Empire army if your not fussed about playing in official events or stores.
A think a lot of people have had the same idea with these and also the Landsknecht looking figures by Highland Miniatures. I last played WFB in about 1998 and actually used an Empire army for that. Its certainly an option for these Landsknechts anyway 😃 👍
That Army is looking absolutely looking awesome mate - Once you have finished with the rest of the Pike, would you be thinking of adding some cavalry to the Army as well?
Thank you! I've not really thought of what I'll add to it outside of the starter box but artillery and cavalry are certainly options. I think painting Landsknecht cannons would be pretty enjoyable 😃👍
Awesome work mate! Thinking of getting some of those for a Old World Empire project and your beautiful miniatures are not helping with staying strong 🤔🙈
Thanks Anthony, much appreciated! The main foliage that use on these bases are clump foliage by Woodland Scenics and a selection of tufts by Warpainter. They definitely work well together 😃
As Darren has said in the comment below, the miniatures are made by Warlord Games for their game called Pike and Shotte. But I can imagine there are other rules out there for gaming this period 😃👍
great work. I have the starter box and have been looking at it for six months and trying to work up the ?courage? to start... this video has encouraged me to get on with it and stop being a pussy.
That's awesome, thank you! I would definitely recommend opening the box and having a go and painting them. I have found that my batch painting limit with Landsknechts is four otherwise it becomes an absolute chore and the quality noticeably dips really pretty quickly. Good luck with your own Landsknechts! 😃👍

I’m amazed at the detail you’re achieved with these Steve. Well done. Amazing work.
That's awesome, thanks Philip! The actual miniatures themselves are really nice crisp sculpts and they paint up very well. The hardest part of the process is deciding which colours to use and on what 😃👍
First class units, beautiful Landsknechts...and nice bases!
Thanks Phil! I wasn't very happy with the original basing that I used with the first Landsknechts that I painted. Much happier with them now 😃👍
Landsknechts- the ultimate painting challenge! Looking great.
Cheers Martin and definitely agree with you there! I think of all the things I've painted over the last few years, Landsknechts have been the most challenging but most rewarding. They can be really time consuming but the end result is always worth it 😃👍
@@OnPointHQ Braver man than me!

Great Ste really good to see you getting away from your comfort zone and enjoying your new directions.
Thanks Leslie, these have definitely been a step outside of my painting comfort zone but have certainly been worth the extra time and effort I've put into them 😃👍
Always an enjoyable watch my friend your work is excellent very impressive and smart looking top work on the colors
Thanks Darrin, much appreciated! I really never thought I'd enjoy painting bright colours especially not in some of these combinations. But its always an enjoyable project to work on 😃👍

Very cool mate. The project is coming together really well.
Cheers Paul, much appreciated mate. After years of trying I think I've actually cracked the code for painting Landsknechts quite quickly 😃👍
These look awsome! Now i am inspired to open a box of landsknechts myself, still have some laying around😅😂
Thank you, much appreciated! I would certainly recommend painting Landsknechts if you're looking for something different. I found the bright colours quite intimidating at first but once you get into your own technique for painting them, I find time to be quite therapeutic to paint 😃👍
They look superb ste, very impressive
Cheers Justin, of all the projects I've worked on recently I'm actually really proud of these. Not something I ever thought I'd end up painting but I'm glad that I did 😃👍
This is beautiful work. You do well with bright colors mate. :)
Cheers buddy! It took a lot of getting used to having painted mostly WW2 miniatures for many years. It has grown on me and definitely much easier to paint these days 😃👍
Sweet cod pieces for days loverly job mate
Cod pieces aplenty, and bright cod pieces too! Cheers buddy, I'm looking forward to the day the starter box is completed. When is anyone's guess 😃👍
Those are bloody lovely!
That's awesome, cheers Shaun! As I said in the video, they can be time consuming to paint but the overall look of a finished unit is absolutely worth the time put into them 😃👍
Nice work ste the project is certainly coming together nicely
Cheers buddy! It's been a slow burn of a project over the last few years but really happy with what I've completed so far 😃👍
lovely work, colours really stand out :)
Thank you, much appreciated! Using bright colours has definitely taking a lot of getting used to but the overall look when they are ranked up makes it worth while 😃👍

Awesome work mate! Thinking of getting some of those for a Old World Empire project and your beautiful miniatures are not helping with staying strong 🤔🙈
Cheers Chris! I think they would definitely work for an Old World Empire army.....now that's a rabbit hole I really want to avoid 😃👍
Those bases are beautiful. Where did you buy the foliage?
Thanks Anthony, much appreciated! The main foliage that use on these bases are clump foliage by Woodland Scenics and a selection of tufts by Warpainter. They definitely work well together 😃
what game are these for?
Those models look like the Warlord Games ones mostly, so they produce theirs for their Pike & Shotte game system.
As Darren has said in the comment below, the miniatures are made by Warlord Games for their game called Pike and Shotte. But I can imagine there are other rules out there for gaming this period 😃👍
Thanks!
