I was at this show. It was Mother's Day 1997 & we were watching a Christmas show. At 0:03 I'm sitting to the left of the CBC logo. I'm wearing a white shirt. My ex is on my left. I can clearly hear him laugh at 4:14 & 4:22. It was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. Even the comedian who was on between sketches was great. I still remember what Mr Pare wrote when he signed my ticket at the end of the show. "Potato". Simple yet so profound. Potato indeed Mr Pare. Potato indeed.
Well, see, that's why it's "rare" and "alternate"...cuz we changed it to "Turquoise Tutu"! The reasoning was that a lot of people didn't know what a bouffant was...
Mr. Pare, were you or anyone else in the group inspired by a vintage Dick Van Dyke episode where they were all vocalizing their own musical instruments? I'm pretty sure it started with MTM's piccolo.... PS...thank you so much for your contribution! Bulbous Bouffant as well as many other songs on Dr. Demento was a fantastic part of my childhood!
Fun to watch them do it live, but I guess it was too difficult to do closer to the original? And without "bulbous bouffant", it just doesn't feel right.
It's too nuanced for you, but it's about how expressive the guys are while not saying a word, their facial expressions and body language. It's very funny, especially if you loved the original
It’s different but yet feels as entertaining as the original
True, but oddly enough, even though it's named "Bulbous Bouffant" that phrase isn't mentioned even once in it!
@@Galantski it is , twice actually. This is the alternative version
Yes. "We" as in "The Vestibules".

"Potato" never meant more. Except at the end of Never Ending Story of course.
Does your salad contain any...aRUUUUgula?
Wow, I have exchanged words on the Internet with a Vestibule. I feel... amazing.

Surely people have seen the B-52s. They have bouffants.
I played this for my kids who were born in 2000 and 2001. It was one of their favorites on our many long car rides.
Ha! Lo and behold, the first comment i see is one of the members of The Vestibules! Thats awesome~
I enjoyed this song as a kid without ever knowing what a bouffant was.

There's a tower in Toronto that controls people's minds
This is so different than the original
I guess they decided turquoise tutu didn’t play quite as well as bulbous bouffant with the focus groups...

A blast from the past!🤣😂
Ingenious! Wait, I think that word would work in there too!
This is like the Wooden Words Monty Python skit.

Preferred cartoon version (the Sesame Street from Hell).
When Canadiens and Americans meet in the northwest corner 😜
Is the audience stoned? They laugh at nothing.

Crowd ruins it.
their original version is better
