I’m an LVN and I know several nurses that are caught up with jailbirds so to speak. It’s astounding. They put money on their books and then when they get out, they hand over the keys to their car to their jailbird dudes who use to to not work, go pick up and smoke their weed and kick it with their fellow jailbird friends. I constantly see coworkers waiting outside of my work for their dudes to pick them up. No thanks, I would never. I have two kids, own a home and have my life together…If I was single I would not make time in my life for these nonsensical men. 🚫

~ this isn’t a new phenomenon. I’m an old head, born in 70’. By the time I was in my junior year in HS, 86-87, young men who had been locked up, and were coming home were getting all the attention. By the time I finished college 91-92, brothers who were coming home, going in were being celebrated. They were hood celebrities. Conversely in my pre adolescent days, late 70’s early 80’s many in our communities were celebrating the first men to graduate college, earn his CDL, trade certificates etc. I can remember the parties and celebrations for those men. Less than 20 years later. What was left of our communities were celebrating the felons, thugs, Pookie and dem. 30 years from that moment, not much has changed.
