      It is pretty reassuring and eye opening about how human we all are. Makes you think about the people around you and how they also must hide thier anxiety better or put on a "persona/face" for dealing with some things. I think its pretty helpful to know thats okay and that your not alone.

    • @TyphlosionGirl
      @TyphlosionGirl 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      Right? I always get told I don't seem like I have anxiety, but it's like Ryan says, I just become another person when I have to deal with other people and me pretending to be okay makes it easier to get through social interactions.

      @@TyphlosionGirl100% but this is true in various degrees for everyone so if we’re all “pretending” to be “normal” does it mean it’s actually real? I work in mental health & have had (diagnosed; social +OCD anxiety my entire life. “Channeling” a persona of a “non anxious” archetype has helped me achieve things I never thought I could, which was really a self limiting belief, but if I was a “different” person, I can theoretically unlock endless potential, or at least do as much as I “believe” this persona can, effortlessly engage in public speaking, interviews, intimate interactions, etc. This is controversial because people with autism were previously taught to try this exact thing; “masking” they call it in clinical terms. Now autism advocates are saying that this practice of “acting normal” is offensive +invalidates autism as “bad” or something to be ashamed of, but I believe connecting with other people is the single most valuable concept we can hope to achieve, especially disenfranchised demographics, (the “loneliness epidemic”is real) is so if there’s a way to streamline the process of connection, I’m all for it, just like how we don’t necessarily introduce ourselves to strangers by immediately divulging all of our personal issues, but once a connection is established with trust we can open up, reciprocally, with other people & hopefully understand each other.

    Ryan has such an enigmatic thing about him. He's most definitely a superstar, as big as one can be these days, immensely charismatic and just seemingly a good person. Yet he comes across as just a regular guy, a fun-loving friend, or just someone very personable. Pair those two together and you will definitely steal the hearts of anyone who engages with your work. Especially when we learn of his troubles with anxiety, it only grounds him more and makes that connection a little stronger. Ryan is more than enough.
    As is Dodford. The same senses are felt, being able to make such massive quality content and yet the humility and friendliness shines through, elevating both the docs and the person making them in our eyes. Can't wait on the next one brother.

    I try my best to not care what people think but it always fails. I’ve had high enough highs to take pride in but the lows ALWAYS stick with me. I push people away because I feel like a burden and have fear of abandonment and my anxiety is so damn frustrating because I can’t be myself. I shake constantly if there’s a person that’s intimidating but it SHOOTS through the roof when I see someone attractive. I’m not a bad looking guy but I’m just worried they see the mistakes I’ve made on my face (metaphorically ofc) or have heard it from another person. I never felt like I belong and always told myself I was never meant to be born (past traumas blah blah blah) and I think I might need help and never get out of my house unless I’m drinking with buddies. It’s torture to walk into a store but seeing someone like Ryan being able to overcome it makes me feel like I can too. I have had that “other guy” come out and be completely normal when I micro-dosed shrooms and I was laughing with buddies like it was the old days and we didn’t have a worry. I seen what I would be like and it gave me hope.

    I’ve never heard of your channel before but this video is THE definition of perfection. This is television quality, it works as a podcast, a video/documentary. It feels like a genuine timestamp on history. Amazing work you really deserve to pat yourself on the back for this.

    Always HYPED when a new Dodford vid pops up! Been a fan since the beginning, keep up the excellent work! 🙌
    As the youngest of 3 boys, I can confirm growing up with mad anxiety/ socially awkward. 😫
    Never feeling like you're good enough, always being ignored and interrupted.. even at 34 it still happens. 😂

    ayy lets goo dodford, I really like the way you structured this out and introduced different ways to showcase the emotion towards the background awareness, and I noticed harmon's story cycle in their so that was a nice touch to add, but yeah man loving the work and developments to these docs and I can't wait for another cinematic masterpiece!!

    I'm so happy I stumbled upon this page. Jim Carrey & Ryan Reynolds are my 2 fave actors & its so fun to learn more in such an entertaining & detailed way. The only thing I was hoping for was commentary on Ryan's movie The Voices. It is a masterpiece! Watch it if you haven’t!!

    Can you share some of the future subjects you're considering for your next videos? Just finished this one and already can't wait for your next one!

    God bless him for being so open and frank about anxiety. People like him are the reason the global perception of anxiety has shifted so much over the last 15 years or so. By speaking out about it, Ryan Reynolds is actively making this world an easier and less terrifying place to live with anxiety
