Dr. Weir, My wife is 65 and still works, she has Medicare Part A. She also still has health insurance through her work. I am on her work policy as well. I turn 65 next year in Nov. At that time, we want to drop her work insurance and both get Medicare A&B and a supplement(G or N+D). Neither of us have started taking SS benefits. What is our best option? Thanks for your time. JW

Sounds like you already did quite a bit of homework. Plan G or N are both excellent. When you stop receiving health insurance from her work, then do just that--enroll in A and B, and then give me a call and we'll find you a good price for you Supplement G or N. You can restrict your application to just Medicare and wait for your monthly SS benefits to increase...all the way to 70 years old if you choose.
However, one note, if you pay quite a lot to be on her work insurance, and it's not worth it in terms of coverage, you might consider starting your Medicare and Supplement sooner. Give me a call sometime and we'll go over all your options. Take care, Ed 702-738-1256

Hi David, as long as you have health insurance from current work and your company has over 20 employees, you're good. Once you stop working then you enroll in Medicare, with no penalties.
