I had a a hard time getting the axle c-clip out. Discovered you have to position the carrier in just the perfect position. You want to remove the retainer bolt, and then rotate the carrier to the point when you rotate the carrier the big center pin will be held against the top of the differential housing. Then you can push the axle in and remove the c-clip. You may need to rotate the clip or the axle to get the clip to a position where you can remove it. If the axle doesn't go in far enough to remove the clip, you can use a little pry bar and pry in on the axle to gain extra clearance.

So I finally got my clip out after removing both pins and after taking a sledgehammer to get the axle to push in lol .... now my problem is getting the clip. back in - any trick for that?

C clamp on wheel hub to press it inwards. C clamp on hub and other side of clamp where the brake caliper bolt mounts to axle. Very easy had the same issue .

What is the point to leaving the large pin in and rotating it up? In having the same issue and trying to find the correct way to remove the c clips.

I think it was the only way that I could get the right clearance to pull out the block in the center. I think gravity helped shift the other parts in the carrier as well. I know I spent probably 45 minutes or so trying to remove the center square block. I wish I TH-cam would let me post a screen shot. I'd screen shot the Alldata page with the directions. I over looked it originally and tried in multiple other spots and couldn't get the block to come out. After 45 minutes I reread the procedure on Alldata word for word and realized I didn't have the pin in the right spot.
