I feel really bad for her. She deserved four wins (rumix, snatch game, roast, acting) and should've made the finale, but the way production went about things completely tainted her win
I feel the same way, I was rooting for Angeria but production moved things in a way that was so underwhelming. It's so disappointing to see that such an amazing cast ends up being boring because of the way production does things. It's so tiring to see them pull a twist and then not even knowing how to do it right.

I think Angie was set up as a front runner from the very beginning and don’t think her winning should have been a surprise. The biggest shock was Plastique not being in the top. I hated this season’s handling of badges left and right, made the whole competition part of the show worthless
Oh yeah Angeria from the begininning had a winning narrative but than near the end her edit kinda dipped off whereas Roxxxy escelated in win equity. Same can even be said for Vanjie and Shannel as well. I think Angeria's edit by the end was'nt a satifying conclusion due to how they handled it.

This video sums up my thoughts on this season perfectly. The bad, non-winner edit Angeria got, the winner edit Roxxxy got, and the complete overlooking of Plastique. Now, I literally almost cried when I found out my girl Angeria won but I genuinely didn't think it was happening until the Talent Show. Yes, I laughed at Angeria's performance and I thought she should've been high but I thought the Top 2 should've been Plastique and Shannel. Once I saw that she got the win, I was like yea, she's most likely winning. Looking at that final lipsync, I feel like she either knew she was going to win so she didn't really try or she felt like Roxxxy was going to win so she didn't try. Lastly, the complete overlooking of Plastique was hard to watch when she (arguably but realistically) did the best with 7 wins (them being Ep 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 12). Once, I saw that she didn't win the Makeover Challenge, I was like they do not care for her. but .. CONGRATS TO MY GIRL, I'M SO HAPPY FOR HER.
What makes me mad is that they can't own it. How can you make it "Whoever wins the talent show will make it, and then judge unfairly?". What is seriously so difficult to give the talent show win to Shannel and Plastique? Shannel had an AMAZING storyline and they missed the mark. They make these stupid rules, then they know they messed up and know everything is ruined. It's sad. Angeria winning is just so... meh in this situation, could have easily done VS the world and won it FAIRLY.
Way before Drag Race ever began, I lived in las Vegas and would go see Shannel perform on Sunday nights at the Gypsy. She was so talented and her biological mother would be there cheering on from her chair in the corner on the dance floor. Shannel is a legendary queen and it was a joy to see her perform again on Drag Race.
I don’t have a problem with the 11 charity badges and the point doubler. I just wish producers didn’t feel the need to blindside both queens and the audience with twists. Let everyone know ahead of time so they can plan their game accordingly, or at the very least tell the audience so that there’s dramatic irony involved
I would love a competition where production just brings in various queens for a week to do a special challenge for charity. Like a ball with Raja, Icesis, Violet, and Plastique

Angeria winning is Ru's choice so I just roll with it. Thing is, the way to the crown is littered by production's robbery, especially in that finale episode. Shannel should be in top 2. Angie wasn'tt even winning the finale lipsync. What should be a surprise, turned out to be a lose-lose situation. The fandom is upset, the queens are upset, the season left such a bad taste. I think queens will be more cautious now if offered to come back to AS.
IMO, AS9 is a season that got to the right outcome in the wrong way. The only thing I’d change about the final placements in Plastique as 2nd over Vanjie
I love Angeria and I'm happy she won, but the judging on the talent show was so bad. I understand if they want to give one of the Top2 spots to Angeria because she was consistent, did a great job througout the season and wouldn't have made top 3 without it, but the other spot should've gone to Shannel, Jorgeous or Plastique. Love Vanjie but she didn't stand out as a front runner and it was very out of nowhere seeing her advance to the top3. That Talent Show and Double Diamond twists made the final episodes very sour, I would've preferred a predictable finale, without the 3 stars twist but with Roxxxy, Angeria and Plastique in the top 3, than doing that Show and make everything feel rigged and underwhelming.
The only thing that mattered this season was the talent show performance. Going into the finale with 0 badges a queen could win 3 badges and double those into 6 potentially placing them in first in badge count. (Personally the talent show didn’t even seem to matter considering the top 2.)
Honestly the non-elimination format in general is pretty crappy. You can absolutely dominate a challenge yet not get anything out of it besides a star if you don’t win the lipsync. I think it would be better if you got 5k for winning the challenge and then the winner of the lipsync gets another 5k as well as the power to block someone. Also, the talent show should be reduced to 2 stars since 3 basically guarantees whoever gets it will make the top 3/4
It’s so frustrating because production could have easily made an edit of this season where it was clear angeria was the winner, but I will never understand why they made a season with a storyline or Roxxxy winning just to give it to someone else

I think that instead of the top 2 format, they should have made it so there was 1 winner and 2 high queens (winner gets 2 badges and the high queens get 1) then there is a btm2 of the week and the loser of the lipsync gets blocked and cant win any badges the next week, or if they win get 1. I feel like this would make the competition more fair and there are actual stakes to not lose a lipsync cause it means you would be blocked. Blocking would also work in this season cause for example, plastique would be in the btm for snatch game with lets say Jorgeous lose the lipsync and be blocked, the next week they win the makeover but plastique doesnt get her badges. This might be flawed but i think it is better than what we got
Can we take a moment to realize that at the end, Gottmik was the only one with just 2 badges, placing her dead last. This feels so wrong!!! Production handing out random badges left and right makes defies the whole concept.
It sucks because they did screw up with how they framed the finale so it made Angeria come off undeserving when she actually was very strong through the season. And the non-elimination thing, it's much better for the queens but the issue is sadly, it only works if the queens actually care about winning and still fight to compete as if they face elimination. So it becomes problematic when the cast is established and rich so they kind of don't try that hard at stuff they're bad at or just have this relaxed attitude about it because there really isn't anything to lose. It's tough, the flip side is also problematic, especially for All Stars, since it costs so much for the queens to get looks that can compete now that the production expectation is damn near Met Gala outfits, but they could only show 1 or 2 looks and go home so they don't want to return or they feel they can't even if they want to since some can get financially ruined if they can't get enough attention to translate into a return on the investment that lets them recover. The pool of queens with the kind of money and connections needed is not that large.

I do not know how the fucked up a season with such an insane cast. After the first two episodes, I thought this was going to finally be a good all stars. And then the rest of the season happened. Kudos to the entire cast for such great performances. And shannel angeria and roxxxy in particular.
You're so correct when you say you're incredibly happy for Angeria, but production didn't do her any favors when setting the stage for a win. Her & Roxxxy were my favorites since the cast announcement & I def believe Angie will be a perfect fit for many WoW productions. Her growth & perspective on herself are perfect for an All Stars winner. One of my all time favorite queens from Drag Race. So proud of her ❤ Also, Angie should have won Snatch Game this season. ✨
Ru just wanted to see Vanjie lip sync to Rhythm Nation lol lets be honest but I do think all stars really has an issue with letting their seasons play out naturally...I see why they did the 3 stars twist to make sure that anyone could make the finale, but it literally makes it feel like the whole season was inconsequential to the finale...they should have at least done another shes already done had herses prize and let the chips fall as they may
I really loved the challenges of this season - like that comedy challenge duos - duo makeovers and that rusical was stunning. The cast was iconic but the two things I hated were the order of challenges and the fact it’s non elimination. This season would have ATE if it was just a simple 12 queen season. And the order of challenges were really bad imo - having 3 dance based challenges in a row right at the end of the season (it could be ur opinion if the talent show is dance based) - and also seeing how shannel was the BEST of the talent show - it would’ve been iconic but weird to see how Shannel is a late game sniper. And it just felt really bad in the talent show knowing damn well that RPDR production would make a way for a 2 badge queen to get their way to the end…it just nullified half the season.
i’m so happy for angeria getting the win, but it really did feel out of nowhere since we were focusing so hard on roxxxy and her success in those last episodes. i would’ve been happy with either result, but i was SO SURE ms andrews was taking that crown
Angeria deserved to win the season and talent show and so should of Shannel Shannel was robbed so many times and mistreated. Other than that I enjoyed the season just happy to see them back having fun 😁 plus there would be no point in judging the seasons the same everytime as that would be predictable
i honestly think the main issue was that the talent show was in the last episode instead of the previous one. I understand wanting an interesting finale but if the fandom had longer to sit with angie being top 3 then the reaction to her win would be a lot less negative

Shannel should have won the talent show because that juggling performance was perfect & plastique should have been a finalist ! 🤷🏾♂️ After watching this AS , I’m taking a break from it because it’s getting more overly produced especially if the AS10 rumors are true . 😑
When Ru at the end of the episodes started saying that even the ones with the least amount of stars could still win, I knew some big twist was coming that probably only Roxxxy could've survived (Which bummed me out as I was rooting for Plastique) But my main qualm about these twists are that theyre end of season. I get wanting to be unpredictable and such but I feel like its too much when its the final episode, especially on the Queens too with this formatting (I mean imagine being the front runner and still scared that you might not make it top 3 on the FINAL episode??) I'd rather they stop with drizzling a bunch of twists and rather introduce a big one mid season. This way it could be the focal point of a lot of storylines that would last more than just one episode, it could even cause drama on a regular all stars or season. I think thats why we liked the Rate-A-Queen twist, it was earlier on in the season and gave a bit of drama through Plane Jane.
I feel like I'm going crazy seeing so many people think Plastique won the talent show? She did a lipsync just like Jorgeous, Vanjie, Nina, and Angeria so what made hers better? The boobs thing was fun but you can't say her spinning a saber in 1 pattern was a talent? Every girl on that stage could learn that in 30 minutes(not Nina)? Angeria's was at least funny and Jorgeous/Nina added some great choreography. If it was purely talent then it would of been Shannel and Gottmik?
Im not saying these queens are bad, but I wish we can just say that these were not an "all winners" type of cast without feeling like we are attacking them. Drag Race =/= good or bad at drag. They did not have the same caliber like AS7 cast did, and thats ok! Its a piece of why this season was... a drag to get through. Also, its true - its good everyone has a path to win at the end - but to just throw out 10 badges on the last episode, some to arguably those who didnt do that well in the variety show, just makes the season useless to watch from a competition viewpoint.
They should have been given extra money depending on how many badges they had. Cause Plastique had 1 of the most but still got the lowest amount of money.
I think if they’re going to do non-eliminations in the future, they really need to change the format. In the beginning, tell the queens that there will be a final four finale. However, in order to secure your spot in the finale, you have to be the owner of one of the 4 stars needed to access the finale. The first two episodes, you award a star to the top 2 of the week for that episode. After the second episode, you will need to win the challenge and the lip sync in order to steal one of the four stars from one of the four star holders. This will add stakes to the non-elimination format and give the queens incentive to win or place in the top two for fear of getting their star stolen. Also, if the challenge/lip sync winner for that week already has a star, they have the option to steal a star from one of the star holders and give it to another queen. This could force alliances amongst the queens. And if they wanna implement the blocking system, tell the queens the challenge for the next week, so that they can have an idea on who to block. There’s ways to make a non-elimination format interesting, they just need to actually think it.
I think that would also end up being very unpopular, because a queen who is not doing well could win a challenge towards the end and get into the final 4
I don’t think the critique for the ruby snippers are fair. A twist doesn’t have to do anything for it to be good. It’s a very fair twist and this season it just didn’t make an impact.
I definitely get that, but I also feel like the blocking/cutting twist shouldn’t be brought back. It has had an impact twice ever, and at least one of those was somewhat rigged
I think the blocking twist has a really easy solution, which so many fans have pointed out since all winners - give the queens a hint about the next challenge! It's so fucking simple because it immediately adds strategy. Make it cryptic and have fun with watching the winner try to puzzle out what it means.
this video rlly said how i felt mostly w this season, it could also be the edit but i was routing for roxxy to win storyline wise and i think like w the asian queens the latine queens in as and us drag race r long overdue to be crowned (i mean raja was the only asian american winner for like over ten years before nymphia got crowned!!) and im really happy for angie, she truely deserves it!! i wasnt THAT overly attached or obsessed w anyone in the cast to be like fully routing w my heart for one queen like i knew angie would dominate. tho im kinda said like u said in the vid plastique who also dominated in many ways (my god if she just learned her words for lip syncs shes doing for charity shed be THE front runner ???? ) like i loveeee vanjie but it was so random how she got in the finale and the talent show rlly isnt a talent show like wheres the u part of charima uniqueness nerve and talent??????? why arent we crowning fucking talent like i found jorgeus, plastique and shannel rlly took these ones (mik is also an honorable mention here sorry roxxy but i think ur first one was better ur just not super strong in verse writing ig???) and the double diamond did n othing this formate is cute but i much prefer it for all winners idc what ppl say ik ppl didnt love the overly positive edit for that season but all winners feels like extra special i can justify it that was just such a strong cast i mean their winners after all??? i dont think this works for another type of season (and ik why they did a separate season for charity monet complained kgjfhdosghjkdfs) also the top two lip syncers i dont think i love its cute weve had some strong lip syncs in earlier as seasons from it but idk ig the as seasons after as7 never felt as good i think its part they already got their best casts + girls dont benefit from coming back like they used to!! i think when season 15/16 girls r ready to come back man thats gonna rock

WOW has been handling the balance between TV and competition in a very unsatisfying way. i'd hope they would've learned that after AS7, but it seems like they just can't produce a season in a logical way. (that or they're specifically trying to rage bait the viewers). AS9 was a great opportunity to *really* push more into good TV, letting the contestants steal stars (points / badges), make them vote for "best runway package", "miss congeniality" etc for more points, awarding stars for more mini challenges so the ending result is more interesting and not as tied to whoever did best on the season - because at the end of the day, it was about charity. OR they have to, once again, find a way to make the competition seem less produced and rigged. that includes the process of filming AND whatever's happening in the editing room. this year alone we had roxxxy, marina, and sapphira get massively favorable runs on the show and thus, the expectation to win the season, but WOW ended up crowning other people. and the thing is, angeria, tia, and nymphia were all great and deserving picks (both on their own AND in the context of their respective seasons), but WOW didn't do enough to "sell" that.
The talent show is literally the worst challenge to end the season with due to it giving 3 stars. Literally reduce the stars to 2 for winning and it makes it WAY more fair. That way it gives anyone a chance to still make the finale even if they know their badge count is lacking compared to the frontrunners

For what it's worth I think I really enjoyed this season it's refreshing to have a season where it's not obvious from the get-go than a season was gonna be rigged to one queen and even though we some people might not get a result that they wanted it to shows that the production didn't open pretty reasonable job everything it and judging is pretty fair for the most part

I think the reason angerias win feels so akward is because all 4 of her wins felt like they could have gone to someone else (not unfair wins mind you just close calls) ,and I feel like production choosing to give her the win over whoever else every time put the idea in viewers heads that none of her wins where fully deserved, I truly think fans prefer when queens have it harder, which is why I think jorgeous had such a turn around, her not winning the makeover or roast made us want her to win cause she’s not being rewarded like we think she should be. For me, they should stop doing AS every year ! I think more queens would come back even if they risk being eliminated, because there's less opportunities for them
I’m ok with returning Queens to have a different format where they can stay from beginning to end, like this All Stars. It really gives us time to know them so much better. And I like that. To raise the stakes, I’d say, rather than just bragging rights and a crown and scepter, let the Queens win their money as the competition runs, and the Queen who wins, to get the $200,000 prize at the end. That would definitely bring the competitive aspects back.
I love Angeria so much but I hated her win, she only won because of her talent show that imo was the weakest of the bunch, while the edit kind of made her the villain? So confusing
All Stars needs a break soon, it's really wild that for us the solution to the problem is so easy but for them is not existing. For me, I think about a format either top 2, lip sync assassin or save a queen (non elimination should be only for winners) and then cast queens based on how well they would do on that format. I think it's more interesting when the queens don't know what is going to happen and that only can create enough drama without adding 100 twists.
Girl angies’s crowning was so random but judging by the behind the scenes tea im happy they did not crown DEDAWL Also plastique tore that runway to shreds
The season as a whole was not bad, it was just strange. Seeing queens just get forgotten was a little uncomfortable. Nina and Shannel might have not even been there. I really think Gotmik was cast and set up to be a front runner in the first 3 episodes, but then she just gave up and we saw very little of her. Like you said, what made so many people angry is that the second half of the season was edited to make Roxxxy look like the clear winner, and then Angeria got it. It was just strange.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I believe Angeria deserved her Top 2 placement in the Variety Show. Her talent show is, imo, one of the most unique spins on an original track. She was able to captivate the audience with her charisma, beauty and charm along with the song that had witty lyrics, and it was consistent to her brand. And hearing the queens and judges reactions it was obvious they were living for her. My personal Top 2 were Angeria and Shannel with Plastique in third because they had the most unique talents to me. The only reason Plastique didn’t place for me was because some of the things she did were cool, but I didn’t find it funny, like she said it was going to be, but I was living. Anyways, those are my thoughts on this challene, what do y’all think?
I thought after the Rusical and LaLaPaRUZa that would be the turning point for the season but no, this season for me was kinda boring. There was no stakes whatsoever, lip syncs were terrible and the robbery of Plastique was criminal Congrats to Angie tho
For me the rigged judging ruined it for me. I get that we need some riggory but jesus christ. Plastique got robbed of at least 3 wins, jorgeous 2 and they gave away undeserved wins to roxxxy and angeria
To say Angeria’s win is “out of left field” is WILD considering she had just as many wins as Roxxxy, on top of being blocked the most. The whole season was literally roxxxy vs Angie.
Tom and Lorenzo have said about the show "it's not a true competition, it's a variety with some prizes at the end" I gi ine step further and say its a variety show where at the end of each episode Ru gives a win to a queen she's most liking/feeling/entertained by and sends home a queen she least of those. That being said, to me what was truly lacking from this season wasn't fair judging (at least no more than usual), it was the lack of stakes. Sure there was a but of pressure to win some cash for your charity, but beyond thst there was no real incentive for anyone to push themselves. If anything it felt like they'd threatened not to compete if they got even a modicum of negative criticism. So We ended up with some pretty lackluster performances that "couldn't" be read for and Ru randomly shuffling the frontrunner statistics presumably in an attempt to shake the queens out of complacency. So I could forgive questionable placements/judging (or at least it's not anything I haven't overlooked before), but when you take that away you're left with a pretty lackluster season filled with queens that felt no incentive to really showcase anything we haven't seen from them already. Thsts ok for a winner's season; they'd already shown they have what it takes to win a season. This lot needed to be reminded "what they normally give wasn't enough to win last time, why would it be enough this go round?" I think if this format happens again they should give each queen a pot of X amount of dollars and its added to with each win/top spot and taken from with each bottom spot. That'd put some pressure on the queens to light their pu$$ies on fire if they knew theyd actually be losong money for their charities.
I haven't completely followed every episode of AS9 but for what I have seen the main problem is the way the change the rules of giving away stars every episode, which makes almost any outcomes unfair. First, Angeria deserved to be in the finale if we forget about the three badges for the talent show, asthe other three she won fair and square. Second, I think the should take into consideration the finale for deciding the winner, as it is the final lipsync against the best of the bunch so if it doesn't matter whats the point. Third, Ru and production need to understand that as a competition, you can rigged some things but you cannot choose a winner only on your personal preference without taking into account the track record, the lipsync abilities and even the fan reception. That's my opinion!
I have so many thoughts on this and most align with what people have already said but vanjie making it to too three really emulates how all stars is no longer to prove “yourself” . This is no hate to vanjie but how in the hell can you justify a person who’s been pretty stagnant all season both in challenge wins and outfits ( not bad just not mind blowing like others) BEING IN THE TOP THREE?!! And if you are at least do it to someone who deserves the win like shannel. Yes angeria’s was clever and funny, but there’s no WAYYY in any world is it above shannels juggling, and jorgegous’s and plastiques performance. Lipsyncs are entrance level shit for drag race. Especially for one that doesn’t involve much extra visuals on stage. This is nothing new but lip-syncing for the crown is putting the shoe in the grave, it’s very hard to have a Lipsync for the crown where the outcome was deserving of both the lipsync win AS WELL AS based on their overall performance. Track record alone angeria is set as the winner but the edit, with roxxxy really domineering especially in the lalapalooza and then trying to convince us that angeria won that lipsync? Even with jinkx being one of the most clear and deserving winners in all of drag race history, them blatantly ignoring the outcome of the lipsync still sours it.
Angeria deserved to win hands down. She was tied with the most wins, the most badges and she was cut off the most. The edit was really bad but it was a wholesome season. Also Roxxxy is an ass and plastique would not have won since she can’t lip sync AND vanjie should have not been in the finale
Park and bark was a very smart move. The fact that she never moved and made it so fun and entertaining was amazing. Roxxxy legit did the same talent show as all stars 9. If you don’t have anymore talent then why would you be crowned….
Problem is with production trying to make a season unpredictable and twisted by giving a queens even number of badges until the end. But they couldn’t predict who will do better in the second half of season. That’s how Plastique ended screwed up, because they didn’t want to give her makeover win. She was my pick for winner, but she underperformed in every lip sync so it would be hard to justify her winning a season. Angeria didn’t deserve talent show win, but she was the second best overall during the season and if Plastique is not in the final three, then Angeria is the next most deserving of crown. Roxxxy was favoured during the season and she didn’t grow up since AS2 (besides weight gain) as a performer. She saved a grace of this season when it comes down to the lip sync, but that’s everything she contributed to the season. And at the end, I’m over the Vanjie favouritism. She should not be in the final 3.
ANGERIA is a DESERVED WINNER!! Roxxxy got a badge from Nina and help from production (the makeover challenge). Angie ATE this season!! Crowning Roxxxy would've been too obvious and I'm glad they chose Angie... she was my winner from the start... and besides Rupaul LOVES Angie and her humour... at the end of the day it is RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE and Ru ultimately has the last say. #TeamAngieAlways

The first third of the season did give Angie a hero edit. For some strange reason though they switched it up midway through and tried to paint Angie as delusional which always confused me, given Angie is one of the least offensive, most charming and congenial queens the show has cast in recent years.
Honestly, during the middle of the season I saw Angie winning 100%, but she lost a little bit of steam at the end. It's like Lawrence Chaney winning over Bimini in UK2, Roxxxy was jusy more prominent. unpopular opinion: if the season was fairly judged (plastique winning rusical and makeover like she should’ve) and Shannel and Jorgeous were the top 2 in the talent show (which they shouldve been. Shannel brought an actually unique talent and jorgeous did the most impressive things seen on that stage for that challenge), Than the top 3 would’ve been Plastique, Jorgeous and Shannel. Personally, I feel that Angeria didn’t deserve some of her wins and wasn’t cut out to win the season. love her to death, she’s such a sweet soul, but this was just not her season to win imo.
I feel SO BAD for being so upset about Angeria winning because I absolutely LIVE for her, but it just didn’t feel right. It wasn’t right. It’s just so odd.
My Gal won and I'm over the moon with joy. Roxy is one of the best queens in DR history, but in my opinion, Angie is just better material for All Star winner and DR ambassador.

Production at its best! As for the winner of any of these seasons I always feel sorry for them as the Vitriol directed at them by the fans is beyond comprehension. It is a show for entertainments purposes only. If you want reality go to a real national Pageant like the following Miss Continental Miss gay USof A. Miss Gay America EOY Miss Black Universe etc. The talent in these contests surpass anything you will see on Drag Race
Let's be clear, there is also a lot of politics and shadiness on the pageant scene. Some pageants don't reward the best, they reward queens who have competed a few times at the pageant or have a big brand.

I was surprised by Angeria’s win because the edit didn’t point to it, but frankly, we’ve been getting some obvious winners over the past few years so I’m glad that this time it didn’t feel like I knew the answer. 1. I actually love the talent show as the finale and feel like it’s the greatest equalizer for a non-elimination season. 1 queen got to the finale by her performance all season (Roxxxy), one got their by her performance in the talent show (Vanjie) and one got their through a mix of the two (Angeria). 2. Branding has become an incredibly important part of the show and Angeria and Vanjie delivered two clean, well branded numbers. 3. I think the finale part 1 would have worked if it was a two part 1 day finale. 4. All stars can’t just stop happening, that’s not how television works, they may not get renewed if they don’t produce a new season every year (depending on their contract). 5. All stars is at the point where they should be experimenting, everyone is complaining that there’s 5 all stars seasons every year now, but at least they’re all different and keep everyone on their toes where the main franchise is the tried and true production.

I feel really bad for her. She deserved four wins (rumix, snatch game, roast, acting) and should've made the finale, but the way production went about things completely tainted her win
I feel the same way, I was rooting for Angeria but production moved things in a way that was so underwhelming. It's so disappointing to see that such an amazing cast ends up being boring because of the way production does things. It's so tiring to see them pull a twist and then not even knowing how to do it right.
Literally it’s like they tried to give her the villain edit in the beginning and then Roxxy was seen as the winner just for them to crown her it came out of nowhere and was disappointing editing was horrible

This video sums up my thoughts on this season perfectly. The bad, non-winner edit Angeria got, the winner edit Roxxxy got, and the complete overlooking of Plastique. Now, I literally almost cried when I found out my girl Angeria won but I genuinely didn't think it was happening until the Talent Show. Yes, I laughed at Angeria's performance and I thought she should've been high but I thought the Top 2 should've been Plastique and Shannel. Once I saw that she got the win, I was like yea, she's most likely winning. Looking at that final lipsync, I feel like she either knew she was going to win so she didn't really try or she felt like Roxxxy was going to win so she didn't try. Lastly, the complete overlooking of Plastique was hard to watch when she (arguably but realistically) did the best with 7 wins (them being Ep 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 12). Once, I saw that she didn't win the Makeover Challenge, I was like they do not care for her.

What makes me mad is that they can't own it. How can you make it "Whoever wins the talent show will make it, and then judge unfairly?". What is seriously so difficult to give the talent show win to Shannel and Plastique? Shannel had an AMAZING storyline and they missed the mark. They make these stupid rules, then they know they messed up and know everything is ruined. It's sad. Angeria winning is just so... meh in this situation, could have easily done VS the world and won it FAIRLY.

Way before Drag Race ever began, I lived in las Vegas and would go see Shannel perform on Sunday nights at the Gypsy. She was so talented and her biological mother would be there cheering on from her chair in the corner on the dance floor. Shannel is a legendary queen and it was a joy to see her perform again on Drag Race.
I don’t have a problem with the 11 charity badges and the point doubler. I just wish producers didn’t feel the need to blindside both queens and the audience with twists. Let everyone know ahead of time so they can plan their game accordingly, or at the very least tell the audience so that there’s dramatic irony involved

What should be a surprise, turned out to be a lose-lose situation. The fandom is upset, the queens are upset, the season left such a bad taste. I think queens will be more cautious now if offered to come back to AS.

I love Angeria and I'm happy she won, but the judging on the talent show was so bad. I understand if they want to give one of the Top2 spots to Angeria because she was consistent, did a great job througout the season and wouldn't have made top 3 without it, but the other spot should've gone to Shannel, Jorgeous or Plastique. Love Vanjie but she didn't stand out as a front runner and it was very out of nowhere seeing her advance to the top3. That Talent Show and Double Diamond twists made the final episodes very sour, I would've preferred a predictable finale, without the 3 stars twist but with Roxxxy, Angeria and Plastique in the top 3, than doing that Show and make everything feel rigged and underwhelming.
The only thing that mattered this season was the talent show performance. Going into the finale with 0 badges a queen could win 3 badges and double those into 6 potentially placing them in first in badge count. (Personally the talent show didn’t even seem to matter considering the top 2.)

Honestly the non-elimination format in general is pretty crappy. You can absolutely dominate a challenge yet not get anything out of it besides a star if you don’t win the lipsync. I think it would be better if you got 5k for winning the challenge and then the winner of the lipsync gets another 5k as well as the power to block someone. Also, the talent show should be reduced to 2 stars since 3 basically guarantees whoever gets it will make the top 3/4
It’s so frustrating because production could have easily made an edit of this season where it was clear angeria was the winner, but I will never understand why they made a season with a storyline or Roxxxy winning just to give it to someone else

I think that instead of the top 2 format, they should have made it so there was 1 winner and 2 high queens (winner gets 2 badges and the high queens get 1) then there is a btm2 of the week and the loser of the lipsync gets blocked and cant win any badges the next week, or if they win get 1. I feel like this would make the competition more fair and there are actual stakes to not lose a lipsync cause it means you would be blocked. Blocking would also work in this season cause for example, plastique would be in the btm for snatch game with lets say Jorgeous lose the lipsync and be blocked, the next week they win the makeover but plastique doesnt get her badges. This might be flawed but i think it is better than what we got

It sucks because they did screw up with how they framed the finale so it made Angeria come off undeserving when she actually was very strong through the season.
And the non-elimination thing, it's much better for the queens but the issue is sadly, it only works if the queens actually care about winning and still fight to compete as if they face elimination. So it becomes problematic when the cast is established and rich so they kind of don't try that hard at stuff they're bad at or just have this relaxed attitude about it because there really isn't anything to lose. It's tough, the flip side is also problematic, especially for All Stars, since it costs so much for the queens to get looks that can compete now that the production expectation is damn near Met Gala outfits, but they could only show 1 or 2 looks and go home so they don't want to return or they feel they can't even if they want to since some can get financially ruined if they can't get enough attention to translate into a return on the investment that lets them recover. The pool of queens with the kind of money and connections needed is not that large.
I think it's still way better than All Stars 8 😅

Ru just wanted to see Vanjie lip sync to Rhythm Nation lol lets be honest but I do think all stars really has an issue with letting their seasons play out naturally...I see why they did the 3 stars twist to make sure that anyone could make the finale, but it literally makes it feel like the whole season was inconsequential to the finale...they should have at least done another shes already done had herses prize and let the chips fall as they may
I really loved the challenges of this season - like that comedy challenge duos - duo makeovers and that rusical was stunning. The cast was iconic but the two things I hated were the order of challenges and the fact it’s non elimination. This season would have ATE if it was just a simple 12 queen season. And the order of challenges were really bad imo - having 3 dance based challenges in a row right at the end of the season (it could be ur opinion if the talent show is dance based) - and also seeing how shannel was the BEST of the talent show - it would’ve been iconic but weird to see how Shannel is a late game sniper. And it just felt really bad in the talent show knowing damn well that RPDR production would make a way for a 2 badge queen to get their way to the end…it just nullified half the season.

When Ru at the end of the episodes started saying that even the ones with the least amount of stars could still win, I knew some big twist was coming that probably only Roxxxy could've survived (Which bummed me out as I was rooting for Plastique)
But my main qualm about these twists are that theyre end of season. I get wanting to be unpredictable and such but I feel like its too much when its the final episode, especially on the Queens too with this formatting (I mean imagine being the front runner and still scared that you might not make it top 3 on the FINAL episode??)
I'd rather they stop with drizzling a bunch of twists and rather introduce a big one mid season. This way it could be the focal point of a lot of storylines that would last more than just one episode, it could even cause drama on a regular all stars or season. I think thats why we liked the Rate-A-Queen twist, it was earlier on in the season and gave a bit of drama through Plane Jane.
I feel like I'm going crazy seeing so many people think Plastique won the talent show? She did a lipsync just like Jorgeous, Vanjie, Nina, and Angeria so what made hers better? The boobs thing was fun but you can't say her spinning a saber in 1 pattern was a talent? Every girl on that stage could learn that in 30 minutes(not Nina)? Angeria's was at least funny and Jorgeous/Nina added some great choreography. If it was purely talent then it would of been Shannel and Gottmik?

Im not saying these queens are bad, but I wish we can just say that these were not an "all winners" type of cast without feeling like we are attacking them. Drag Race =/= good or bad at drag. They did not have the same caliber like AS7 cast did, and thats ok! Its a piece of why this season was... a drag to get through.
Also, its true - its good everyone has a path to win at the end - but to just throw out 10 badges on the last episode, some to arguably those who didnt do that well in the variety show, just makes the season useless to watch from a competition viewpoint.
The worst thing is that if you take away the double diamond and give +2 for winning the talent show, everyone still has a shot at the finale

They should have been given extra money depending on how many badges they had. Cause Plastique had 1 of the most but still got the lowest amount of money.
I think if they’re going to do non-eliminations in the future, they really need to change the format. In the beginning, tell the queens that there will be a final four finale. However, in order to secure your spot in the finale, you have to be the owner of one of the 4 stars needed to access the finale. The first two episodes, you award a star to the top 2 of the week for that episode. After the second episode, you will need to win the challenge and the lip sync in order to steal one of the four stars from one of the four star holders. This will add stakes to the non-elimination format and give the queens incentive to win or place in the top two for fear of getting their star stolen. Also, if the challenge/lip sync winner for that week already has a star, they have the option to steal a star from one of the star holders and give it to another queen. This could force alliances amongst the queens. And if they wanna implement the blocking system, tell the queens the challenge for the next week, so that they can have an idea on who to block. There’s ways to make a non-elimination format interesting, they just need to actually think it.

I don’t think the critique for the ruby snippers are fair. A twist doesn’t have to do anything for it to be good. It’s a very fair twist and this season it just didn’t make an impact.
I definitely get that, but I also feel like the blocking/cutting twist shouldn’t be brought back. It has had an impact twice ever, and at least one of those was somewhat rigged
I think the blocking twist has a really easy solution, which so many fans have pointed out since all winners - give the queens a hint about the next challenge! It's so fucking simple because it immediately adds strategy. Make it cryptic and have fun with watching the winner try to puzzle out what it means.

WOW has been handling the balance between TV and competition in a very unsatisfying way. i'd hope they would've learned that after AS7, but it seems like they just can't produce a season in a logical way. (that or they're specifically trying to rage bait the viewers). AS9 was a great opportunity to *really* push more into good TV, letting the contestants steal stars (points / badges), make them vote for "best runway package", "miss congeniality" etc for more points, awarding stars for more mini challenges so the ending result is more interesting and not as tied to whoever did best on the season - because at the end of the day, it was about charity. OR they have to, once again, find a way to make the competition seem less produced and rigged. that includes the process of filming AND whatever's happening in the editing room. this year alone we had roxxxy, marina, and sapphira get massively favorable runs on the show and thus, the expectation to win the season, but WOW ended up crowning other people. and the thing is, angeria, tia, and nymphia were all great and deserving picks (both on their own AND in the context of their respective seasons), but WOW didn't do enough to "sell" that.
The talent show is literally the worst challenge to end the season with due to it giving 3 stars. Literally reduce the stars to 2 for winning and it makes it WAY more fair. That way it gives anyone a chance to still make the finale even if they know their badge count is lacking compared to the frontrunners

For what it's worth I think I really enjoyed this season it's refreshing to have a season where it's not obvious from the get-go than a season was gonna be rigged to one queen and even though we some people might not get a result that they wanted it to shows that the production didn't open pretty reasonable job everything it and judging is pretty fair for the most part

I think the reason angerias win feels so akward is because all 4 of her wins felt like they could have gone to someone else (not unfair wins mind you just close calls) ,and I feel like production choosing to give her the win over whoever else every time put the idea in viewers heads that none of her wins where fully deserved, I truly think fans prefer when queens have it harder, which is why I think jorgeous had such a turn around, her not winning the makeover or roast made us want her to win cause she’s not being rewarded like we think she should be.

I’m ok with returning Queens to have a different format where they can stay from beginning to end, like this All Stars.
It really gives us time to know them so much better. And I like that.
To raise the stakes, I’d say, rather than just bragging rights and a crown and scepter, let the Queens win their money as the competition runs, and the Queen who wins, to get the $200,000 prize at the end. That would definitely bring the competitive aspects back.
I love Angeria so much but I hated her win, she only won because of her talent show that imo was the weakest of the bunch, while the edit kind of made her the villain? So confusing
All Stars needs a break soon, it's really wild that for us the solution to the problem is so easy but for them is not existing. For me, I think about a format either top 2, lip sync assassin or save a queen (non elimination should be only for winners) and then cast queens based on how well they would do on that format. I think it's more interesting when the queens don't know what is going to happen and that only can create enough drama without adding 100 twists.

The season as a whole was not bad, it was just strange. Seeing queens just get forgotten was a little uncomfortable. Nina and Shannel might have not even been there. I really think Gotmik was cast and set up to be a front runner in the first 3 episodes, but then she just gave up and we saw very little of her. Like you said, what made so many people angry is that the second half of the season was edited to make Roxxxy look like the clear winner, and then Angeria got it. It was just strange.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I believe Angeria deserved her Top 2 placement in the Variety Show.
Her talent show is, imo, one of the most unique spins on an original track. She was able to captivate the audience with her charisma, beauty and charm along with the song that had witty lyrics, and it was consistent to her brand.
And hearing the queens and judges reactions it was obvious they were living for her.
My personal Top 2 were Angeria and Shannel with Plastique in third because they had the most unique talents to me. The only reason Plastique didn’t place for me was because some of the things she did were cool, but I didn’t find it funny, like she said it was going to be, but I was living.
Anyways, those are my thoughts on this challene, what do y’all think?

I thought after the Rusical and LaLaPaRUZa that would be the turning point for the season but no, this season for me was kinda boring. There was no stakes whatsoever, lip syncs were terrible and the robbery of Plastique was criminal

For me the rigged judging ruined it for me. I get that we need some riggory but jesus christ. Plastique got robbed of at least 3 wins, jorgeous 2 and they gave away undeserved wins to roxxxy and angeria
To say Angeria’s win is “out of left field” is WILD considering she had just as many wins as Roxxxy, on top of being blocked the most. The whole season was literally roxxxy vs Angie.
Tom and Lorenzo have said about the show "it's not a true competition, it's a variety with some prizes at the end" I gi ine step further and say its a variety show where at the end of each episode Ru gives a win to a queen she's most liking/feeling/entertained by and sends home a queen she least of those.
That being said, to me what was truly lacking from this season wasn't fair judging (at least no more than usual), it was the lack of stakes. Sure there was a but of pressure to win some cash for your charity, but beyond thst there was no real incentive for anyone to push themselves. If anything it felt like they'd threatened not to compete if they got even a modicum of negative criticism. So We ended up with some pretty lackluster performances that "couldn't" be read for and Ru randomly shuffling the frontrunner statistics presumably in an attempt to shake the queens out of complacency.
So I could forgive questionable placements/judging (or at least it's not anything I haven't overlooked before), but when you take that away you're left with a pretty lackluster season filled with queens that felt no incentive to really showcase anything we haven't seen from them already. Thsts ok for a winner's season; they'd already shown they have what it takes to win a season. This lot needed to be reminded "what they normally give wasn't enough to win last time, why would it be enough this go round?"
I think if this format happens again they should give each queen a pot of X amount of dollars and its added to with each win/top spot and taken from with each bottom spot. That'd put some pressure on the queens to light their pu$$ies on fire if they knew theyd actually be losong money for their charities.
The lawsuit didn’t help Roxxxy’s case, if she’s indeed part of it.
I haven't completely followed every episode of AS9 but for what I have seen the main problem is the way the change the rules of giving away stars every episode, which makes almost any outcomes unfair. First, Angeria deserved to be in the finale if we forget about the three badges for the talent show, asthe other three she won fair and square. Second, I think the should take into consideration the finale for deciding the winner, as it is the final lipsync against the best of the bunch so if it doesn't matter whats the point. Third, Ru and production need to understand that as a competition, you can rigged some things but you cannot choose a winner only on your personal preference without taking into account the track record, the lipsync abilities and even the fan reception. That's my opinion!

I have so many thoughts on this and most align with what people have already said but vanjie making it to too three really emulates how all stars is no longer to prove “yourself” . This is no hate to vanjie but how in the hell can you justify a person who’s been pretty stagnant all season both in challenge wins and outfits ( not bad just not mind blowing like others) BEING IN THE TOP THREE?!!
And if you are at least do it to someone who deserves the win like shannel. Yes angeria’s was clever and funny, but there’s no WAYYY in any world is it above shannels juggling, and jorgegous’s and plastiques performance. Lipsyncs are entrance level shit for drag race. Especially for one that doesn’t involve much extra visuals on stage.
This is nothing new but lip-syncing for the crown is putting the shoe in the grave, it’s very hard to have a Lipsync for the crown where the outcome was deserving of both the lipsync win AS WELL AS based on their overall performance.
Track record alone angeria is set as the winner but the edit, with roxxxy really domineering especially in the lalapalooza and then trying to convince us that angeria won that lipsync? Even with jinkx being one of the most clear and deserving winners in all of drag race history, them blatantly ignoring the outcome of the lipsync still sours it.
Angeria deserved to win hands down. She was tied with the most wins, the most badges and she was cut off the most. The edit was really bad but it was a wholesome season. Also Roxxxy is an ass and plastique would not have won since she can’t lip sync AND vanjie should have not been in the finale
Park and bark was a very smart move. The fact that she never moved and made it so fun and entertaining was amazing. Roxxxy legit did the same talent show as all stars 9. If you don’t have anymore talent then why would you be crowned….

Problem is with production trying to make a season unpredictable and twisted by giving a queens even number of badges until the end. But they couldn’t predict who will do better in the second half of season. That’s how Plastique ended screwed up, because they didn’t want to give her makeover win. She was my pick for winner, but she underperformed in every lip sync so it would be hard to justify her winning a season. Angeria didn’t deserve talent show win, but she was the second best overall during the season and if Plastique is not in the final three, then Angeria is the next most deserving of crown. Roxxxy was favoured during the season and she didn’t grow up since AS2 (besides weight gain) as a performer. She saved a grace of this season when it comes down to the lip sync, but that’s everything she contributed to the season. And at the end, I’m over the Vanjie favouritism. She should not be in the final 3.

ANGERIA is a DESERVED WINNER!! Roxxxy got a badge from Nina and help from production (the makeover challenge). Angie ATE this season!! Crowning Roxxxy would've been too obvious and I'm glad they chose Angie... she was my winner from the start... and besides Rupaul LOVES Angie and her humour... at the end of the day it is RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE and Ru ultimately has the last say. #TeamAngieAlways
9:23 to 9:43 perfectly sums up the reason this finale was garbage. (And Plastique having one of the best track records + talent show + finale runway and being barred from the final lip sync for no reason)
To be honest I think that they should have had the talent show, named the top four, and had three lip-syncs ending in a top two. Giving Roxxy the win.
The first third of the season did give Angie a hero edit. For some strange reason though they switched it up midway through and tried to paint Angie as delusional which always confused me, given Angie is one of the least offensive, most charming and congenial queens the show has cast in recent years.

Honestly, during the middle of the season I saw Angie winning 100%, but she lost a little bit of steam at the end. It's like Lawrence Chaney winning over Bimini in UK2, Roxxxy was jusy more prominent. Also, I guarantee people are gonna LOVE this season in a couple years and all the haters are gonna say "I've been saging this the whole time"
unpopular opinion: if the season was fairly judged (plastique winning rusical and makeover like she should’ve) and Shannel and Jorgeous were the top 2 in the talent show (which they shouldve been. Shannel brought an actually unique talent and jorgeous did the most impressive things seen on that stage for that challenge), Than the top 3 would’ve been Plastique, Jorgeous and Shannel. Personally, I feel that Angeria didn’t deserve some of her wins and wasn’t cut out to win the season. love her to death, she’s such a sweet soul, but this was just not her season to win imo.
I feel SO BAD for being so upset about Angeria winning because I absolutely LIVE for her, but it just didn’t feel right. It wasn’t right. It’s just so odd.
My Gal won and I'm over the moon with joy. Roxy is one of the best queens in DR history, but in my opinion, Angie is just better material for All Star winner and DR ambassador.

Production at its best! As for the winner of any of these seasons I always feel sorry for them as the Vitriol directed at them by the fans is beyond comprehension. It is a show for entertainments purposes only. If you want reality go to a real national Pageant like the following Miss Continental Miss gay USof A. Miss Gay America EOY Miss Black Universe etc. The talent in these contests surpass anything you will see on Drag Race
Let's be clear, there is also a lot of politics and shadiness on the pageant scene. Some pageants don't reward the best, they reward queens who have competed a few times at the pageant or have a big brand.

I was surprised by Angeria’s win because the edit didn’t point to it, but frankly, we’ve been getting some obvious winners over the past few years so I’m glad that this time it didn’t feel like I knew the answer.
1. I actually love the talent show as the finale and feel like it’s the greatest equalizer for a non-elimination season.
1 queen got to the finale by her performance all season (Roxxxy), one got their by her performance in the talent show (Vanjie) and one got their through a mix of the two (Angeria).
2. Branding has become an incredibly important part of the show and Angeria and Vanjie delivered two clean, well branded numbers.
3. I think the finale part 1 would have worked if it was a two part 1 day finale.
4. All stars can’t just stop happening, that’s not how television works, they may not get renewed if they don’t produce a new season every year (depending on their contract).
5. All stars is at the point where they should be experimenting, everyone is complaining that there’s 5 all stars seasons every year now, but at least they’re all different and keep everyone on their toes where the main franchise is the tried and true production.
