It kind of depends on your point-of-view whether "immunity" negates a low placement because it basically is a free-ride to next week. Anyway the only time she got negative critiques was the Rocker challenge and she almost certainly wouldn't have been in the bottom there anyway.

Tyra was a villain and Raven was not? I vividly remember the “I would never say that” to Tatiana and then the camera going to confessional where Raven destroyed everything Tati did (“her outfit is sh*t, her book is sh*t etc). That never could be a winner. Also Tyra slayed.
Gigi Goode was allegedly disqualified as well. She filmed her first finale lip sync in a studio when the rules stated it had to be from home because of the pandemy.
Also... all stars 6, i know people said the trinity k bonet had a bad attitude but i feel like it was justified, she was robbed of her top 4 spot where she could have (possibly) won the crown or even be a runner up...but thats just my opinion
Tbh, if Trinity K Bonet made the cut, it's just gonna be her and Ra'Jah fighting for the crown in which TKB would undoubtedly win. But the producers did her dirty. Trin absolutely really deserved that and she's valid to feel like a sore loser.
Many queens have said that she has a bad attitude and brings a negative energy to the room, both on the show and on tour. You can see it on multiple episodes of the show, not just when she got eliminated.
Agree. As a fan of her going into as6 i immediately noticed her change. She had a bad attitude from the begining and also showed non sportmanship thats how i knew she wouldnt win. The silky special episode sealed her fate. Production/editing couldnt hide it at all

I agree, I said from the beginning just like many, looked at Nymphia as the winner. Then they're surprised she won. She a better track record enough to win more than Willow and Yvie. Where Sasha was the obvious production winner but also had a good showing anyway. In ANTM many winners were hidden.

The edit was not a winning one from snatch game to basically her third win. Sapphira was shown to have a fully-rounded narrative with one slip up to show “vulnerability” and the rest of the cast loved her. Nymphia went from a sleeper threat in the first half of the season to a little bit of a whiner who gets in her own head when she doesn’t need to. I don’t need the edit to make it *too* obvious who will win (AKA Season 15), but Nymphia was given a strong “finalist material with room to grow” edit for a large part of the season
@@Deedj1Agree with you 100%. I was rooting for Nymphia since the beginning and rlly wanted her to win the entire series since she represented Asians amazingly. However, I felt like the edit they gave her was unfinished, her performance in the middle portion of the competition was edited in a way that showed Nymphia as a contestant burning out and it was slow and then in the last portion of the season they completely rushed the ending of her storyline. It just wasn’t paced very well.
I can see why. I just don’t like winners that flop snatch game. Mind you, do an OK job (i.e. Violet) is enough. But train wrecks in snatch game (Yvie, Brooklin, Nymphia) in my mind blocks out a win.

Giselle deserved her win!!!! Jada, Kimmy Couture, and Miss Fierce had more low moments in S3 of CDR! Did we watch the same show? After Giselle’s Snatch Game performance, it was obvious that she was going to win by the way they edited it!
@joaqueen Fierce had a better overall track record, and Giselle had no storyline. Not to mention that Fierce was the only reason Canada 3 was watchable. The fact that Fierce couldn't even lip sync for the crown makes it controversial. Also, many say that she lost her finale lip sync. My list was based on fan perception, not my own opinion as well.
Was Blu really that controversial ? I feel like going into the finale, we all agreed she was the only queen left who deserved the crown, since Mo and Baga were just ok and Juju did terribly that season

"Symone was the front-runner" - What's your definition of front-runner? I thought that a front-runner is someone who had the best track record (or when the scores are close enough, who has more wins/made a bigger impact). Rose (at least by my definition) was the clear front-runner. She had one less win than Symone but, two more highs, a top 2 and a low (while Symone had no lows, but 2 bottom placements). Not saying that Symone did not deserve to win, but can we start giving Rose her flowers? Having one of the best TR's is the whole RPDR and best TR out of all non-winners (US, regular seasons) is, imo, a big accomplishment.
I mean, i go by that defenition aswell, but Symone was so talented and fashion foward on S13 that i consider her a front runner too. Looking back at it, her hold on the competition was very opressive and i think her TR is very fair, especially when we compare it to S13 overall judging (a rigged af season).
Honestly S13 should've been between Rosé and Gottmik, Symone did good but not enough to win and Kandy was there only because Ru liked her but she was trash compared to the others
I wouldn’t say Sapphira was robbed (Nymphia had an amazing showing and was without a doubt the runway queen, sorry Q), but I think production missed an opportunity not using the double crowning edit. They would have been an AMAZING set of twinners, and we’ve never had a double crowning on the main series. They were both so extremely deserving.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, except that Sapphira's solo number was the best for me. Just think that the song choice for the final lipsync got her. And Nymphia is a great option of a winner and has been doing a lot since her crowning.
I'm sorry but if you didn't see Nymphia winning or as a winner you really were blind. It's the main reason why there were a lot of TH-camrs making videos about her edit being weird because they saw that production wanted her as a winner but she got a weird edit especially in the middle of the season
idk... you might wanna rewatch the season cuz she was absent for a lot of episodes, and when she WAS there it was her lying on the floor sulking about not being able to do it and everyone being frustrated and annoyed at her in confessionals because of it. Going into the finale there was like a slim possibility she could sneak in, because you never know what can happen especially with a lip sync for the crown, but Sapphira definitely had the most momentum and the entire season's edit really was just "this is how Sapphira is going to win" while Nymphia got more of a "she's a finale contender but she needs room to grow, gain confidence, and mature in some areas"
I don’t think production wanted her as a winner which is specifically why she got such a weird invisible edit. They wanted Sapphira but the fans wanted Nymphia no matter what so they were forced to pivot

I dont think bosco was a frontrunner tho. Lady Camden yess but bosco got in 1 season a middle row start,a downfall and at the second part a rudemption which is a good edit but maybe not for a winner. +i think willow was like a second front runner since she only got one win but indeed had many fans and was def robbed of some wins with so many high placements

I want to take a moment to thank you all for sticking up for Tyra. There was never an issue of her winning until Michelle Visage went on her "Raven was robbed" campaign. Then it was all downhill after that. Then once WOW joined in there was no coming back. They invalided her win, and Rupaul never stood up for Tyra. Drag race created this narrative of queens being robbed, but they arent.
Girl come on 🙄..despite not appearing on the confessionals enough, nymphia's run on the season was phenomenal. She never had to lip sync for the life once,where saphira has lip synced for the life,and also she did good almost every challenge and the challenges that she struggled a little was immediately taken away by her runway looks. So in my opinion she is the rightful one to win the crown, and if the girls have a problem with it.. well cry about it Mmwa😚💕
Sapphire has to lipsync once but she also had more wins …so that kinda evens out I think from an editing perspective Sapphire was the one they were painting out to be the winner all season whereas Nymphia was a background character and then to have her lose out in the end sucked and I just was a bigger fan of hers that banana stuff got old real fast and it became annoying to me

Nymphia absolutely had a winner edit. The editors know that looosing is the new winning, and they know that showcasing nymphia as a "non proeuction favorite", especially compared to Sapphira, is going to make her fan support boom The finale lipsync was filmed quite early, before the airing of the season, so the editors could have this storyline of "non favored/loosing into snatching the win thanks to the lipsync " and know nymphia would have rhe most fan support
I think when you want someone as a contender to win in the audience's mind, you need them to be present in their minds and make them think "oh yeah I know this queen, I love this queen, she's done really great in this competition" and they will do that by making them present in the edit and giving them screentime and confessionals and all that. Nymphia was absent for a lot of the middle-half of the season especially around the Rusical time. Being an underdog is one thing and Willow Pill proved you can absolutely win with that kind of edit, but being completely absent from the show is another...

Nymphia got probably the worst winner edit in modern drag race. She was literally shown as goofy supporting character on the show. She also somehow got away with not being in bottom for THAT snatch game and those damn Yellow runways.

Well, technically in S13 and 14, Rose and Lady Camden were the frontrunners, but Willow's and Symone's wins were pretty obvious regardless, since they were fan favs with best storylines and also very good track records.
I don't know how anyone watched season 16 and thinks Nymphia is a controversial winner. She was obviously going to be in the top after seeing her first or second runway. Icon.
Also: S9, 12 and 16 are seen as the greatest seasons of all time. So having a controversial win also helps making a season great, because a surprising winner is just more exciting, than a season where it is clear from the beginning.

I disagree that Jinkx was expected to win Season 5. I think that would've been anyone from Rolaskatox, most likely Roxxxy. Jinkx was a dark horse that got read all season for her drag, then proved why she deserved the crown. Nymphia is another one that snuck up on everyone. That's not controversial, that's talent.

funny thing about i think both jaida and symone's crownings were that since they were both at the very beginning of the 2020's (mind you the blm movement along with the police brutality cases were at a high) people treated both crownings as a stunt. so i would say symone was definitely controversial when looking at the time and also looking how fans treated her vs rosè (on top of that her drag being highly based in black culture) i also think the fact that there were three consecutive black winners (four and a half if you include monet and shea) was probably also seen controversial
I had really weird feelings about Sasha's win in season 9 because I was really rooting for her the whole way through but by the time we got to the end I felt like she hadn't been given the wins to back it up. But I also thought she'd been overlooked for at least one solo win (the ball) and hadn't really been gotten her flowers so I was fine with a Shea win because she was still dope on her season and then they kind of did an uno reverse because of the new format messing with things. Was just odd.

"Best Solo number" While I won't deny Nymphia's lip sync performance. To say her solo number was the best is a choice. Sapphira ate the both of them up with her solo number, it was perhaps one of the best solo numbers in drag races, imo.
I think history will remember Nypmhia’s win like Violet’s. Both did very good in the competition, but I think what helped them is they were unique in comparison to the stories of the winners immediately prior to them. Jinkx and Bianca were both beloved comedy queens, while Violet was this cuntress diva fashion queen. Similarly, Sasha Colbie was this matriarch for her season the same way Sapphira was, while Nymphia was a quirky underdog who was consistently surprising the competition.
Many realized that at the time. She decimated the first half of the season. Bimini only came alive after the pandemic-enforced break which hit Lawrence a lot harder mentally - all clubs were shutdown in Scotland while queens in England were still able to work

nymphia is prob one of my fave queens ever on Drag Race idcccc. During the watch parties everytime nymphia came on screen people would cheer or scream for her. She’s def one of the most loved winners too

It may not be controversial but season 14's top two, Lady Camden and Willow Pill still stands out as a WTF top two especially seeing how much steam Angeria had up until the third from the last episode. Am still stunned she wasn't crowned.
There’s absolutely nothing controversial about nymphias win unless you’re a delusional sapphira Stan, besides snatch game she had an incredible track record, phenomenal runways and performance and was entertaining, and honestly the top 3 was one of the best top 3 the show has ever had, if this was like season 6 where the finale was just a reunion and the finalist don’t do anything and just get crowned I wouldn’t be surprised if nymphia, plane, or sapphira won they all had ups and downs in the competition but still did phenomenal but after the finale we got with their runways, performances, and lipsync there’s no way nymphia wasn’t winning
@@johnnybaxter8078 I’m confused how she was edited out in ep 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, and 14 where she showed how amazing she was, was mostly in the top with 3 wins, and got praise from the judges and other queens, and had plenty of confessional, and even in ep 8, 10, and 12 where she did poorly she still wasn’t in the background but opening up about her self esteem issues failing those challenges helped her win ep 14 so it was a full circle moment for her storyline, literally only ep she was in the background was maybe ep 7 ( and maybe ep 4 but I skipped it when I saw mirage was eliminated so idk how she did ) so I’m genuinely have no idea how you think she was a background character 💀
i want to watch the original edit of s12... as it aired, Gigi Goode's story is not exactly a winner edit. She had massive fan support because she's skinny, white and fashion, but she did quite poorly in multiple challenges and was saved from the bottom. Her crowning wouldn't be half as satisfying as Jaida's, who had a very traditional winner track record despite receiving little help from the producers.
Nymphia up there? She was robbed for some wins for sure! Sapphira instead got some undeserved wins! But Nymphia showed Sapphira who's the boss! Morphine sent Sapphira home- but production said no.
I was rooting for Saphira, but I have to recognize that her winning woud be far more controversial, since they both did equally good through the season, had equally good solo numbers, so it all came down to the final lip sync. If they didn't give it to Nymphia they may as well retire the lip sync for the crown format.
I quite don't believe Willow Pill was the front runner... she got a good storyline, yes, she got a lot of time to speak for herself and her health and how much she has suffered...but I believe she was completely an underdog...she reached the finale with 1win, while lady Camden had 4... For Nymphia, she had to win, clearly to break the Asian queen curse...and she did really well, with 2.125 wins, outstanding runways, never seen before personality and an elevated drag...
Sasha is also controversial because she was robbed during the season. She was clearly the winner in the Ball (Shea's cape was beautiful, but she "only" did a cape while Sasha did a complete look) and in the Makeover, but Rupaul gave the win to Shea and Trinity. 😬

Tyra slayed S2. Sasha slayed the finale. Ginger or Violet ok. Violet definitely proved afterward. Eureka should've won S10. Brooklyn got old with that ballet stuff. S12 Jaida won rightfully so if not Sherry Pie did slay. I rooted for Jaida. Even Crystal over Gigi.
All Stars 3 made me stop watching the show. It was the most contrived BS ever. Sure Ben Dela was a frontrunner, but Shangela had the same number of wins at that point and it would've made sense to crown her, too. But they clearly wanted Trixie to win for whatever reason, despite having zero challenge wins and so they made up that whole juror thing to make it happen.
Guys hate her as much as you want but Tyra Sanchez completely ATE the girls up in season 2, not only she never landed on the bottom but also had 3 wins and she never placed below safe, also no, Raven was not robbed in neither season she competed in, she lost fair and square.

Many queens have said that she has a bad attitude and brings a negative energy to the room, both on the show and on tour. You can see it on multiple episodes of the show, not just when she got eliminated.

The edit was not a winning one from snatch game to basically her third win. Sapphira was shown to have a fully-rounded narrative with one slip up to show “vulnerability” and the rest of the cast loved her. Nymphia went from a sleeper threat in the first half of the season to a little bit of a whiner who gets in her own head when she doesn’t need to. I don’t need the edit to make it *too* obvious who will win (AKA Season 15), but Nymphia was given a strong “finalist material with room to grow” edit for a large part of the season

However, I felt like the edit they gave her was unfinished, her performance in the middle portion of the competition was edited in a way that showed Nymphia as a contestant burning out and it was slow and then in the last portion of the season they completely rushed the ending of her storyline. It just wasn’t paced very well.

I thought that a front-runner is someone who had the best track record (or when the scores are close enough, who has more wins/made a bigger impact). Rose (at least by my definition) was the clear front-runner. She had one less win than Symone but, two more highs, a top 2 and a low (while Symone had no lows, but 2 bottom placements). Not saying that Symone did not deserve to win, but can we start giving Rose her flowers? Having one of the best TR's is the whole RPDR and best TR out of all non-winners (US, regular seasons) is, imo, a big accomplishment.

I mean, i go by that defenition aswell, but Symone was so talented and fashion foward on S13 that i consider her a front runner too. Looking back at it, her hold on the competition was very opressive and i think her TR is very fair, especially when we compare it to S13 overall judging (a rigged af season).

I wouldn’t say Sapphira was robbed (Nymphia had an amazing showing and was without a doubt the runway queen, sorry Q), but I think production missed an opportunity not using the double crowning edit. They would have been an AMAZING set of twinners, and we’ve never had a double crowning on the main series. They were both so extremely deserving.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, except that Sapphira's solo number was the best for me. Just think that the song choice for the final lipsync got her. And Nymphia is a great option of a winner and has been doing a lot since her crowning.

I'm sorry but if you didn't see Nymphia winning or as a winner you really were blind. It's the main reason why there were a lot of TH-camrs making videos about her edit being weird because they saw that production wanted her as a winner but she got a weird edit especially in the middle of the season
idk... you might wanna rewatch the season cuz she was absent for a lot of episodes, and when she WAS there it was her lying on the floor sulking about not being able to do it and everyone being frustrated and annoyed at her in confessionals because of it. Going into the finale there was like a slim possibility she could sneak in, because you never know what can happen especially with a lip sync for the crown, but Sapphira definitely had the most momentum and the entire season's edit really was just "this is how Sapphira is going to win" while Nymphia got more of a "she's a finale contender but she needs room to grow, gain confidence, and mature in some areas"

Nymphia absolutely had a winner edit. The editors know that looosing is the new winning, and they know that showcasing nymphia as a "non proeuction favorite", especially compared to Sapphira, is going to make her fan support boom
The finale lipsync was filmed quite early, before the airing of the season, so the editors could have this storyline of "non favored/loosing into snatching the win thanks to the lipsync " and know nymphia would have rhe most fan support
I think when you want someone as a contender to win in the audience's mind, you need them to be present in their minds and make them think "oh yeah I know this queen, I love this queen, she's done really great in this competition" and they will do that by making them present in the edit and giving them screentime and confessionals and all that. Nymphia was absent for a lot of the middle-half of the season especially around the Rusical time. Being an underdog is one thing and Willow Pill proved you can absolutely win with that kind of edit, but being completely absent from the show is another...

I had really weird feelings about Sasha's win in season 9 because I was really rooting for her the whole way through but by the time we got to the end I felt like she hadn't been given the wins to back it up. How Willow Pill with only 1 win and 2 bottom were a front runner against Candem with 3 wins and 1 bottom? I love love Willow, and wanted her to win, but call her the front runner when we had Candem, and even Angeria, is not that accurate.
When I first saw the sky- high bright yellow bee-hive wearing the multiple pairs of sun glasses, I thought Juno Birch was on Drag Race and I was stunned. Then Nymphia opened up and I became a fan.

Honestly I would have put Symone as a controversial win because you had 2 other front runners with better track records i.e. gotmik and rose who never lipsynced or placed lower than safe while. I get she had the charisma but what threw me off was her hair piece that shot spaghetti strings like was that it or should something more should have happened

While I won't deny Nymphia's lip sync performance. To say her solo number was the best is a choice. Sapphira ate the both of them up with her solo number, it was perhaps one of the best solo numbers in drag races, imo.

I think history will remember Nypmhia’s win like Violet’s. Both did very good in the competition, but I think what helped them is they were unique in comparison to the stories of the winners immediately prior to them. Jinkx and Bianca were both beloved comedy queens, while Violet was this cuntress diva fashion queen. Similarly, Sasha Colbie was this matriarch for her season the same way Sapphira was, while Nymphia was a quirky underdog who was consistently surprising the competition.
Same thing with international franchises would be cool. Uk2 comes to mind. Even though after time, people realize Lawrence is a great winner
Many realized that at the time. She decimated the first half of the season. Bimini only came alive after the pandemic-enforced break which hit Lawrence a lot harder mentally - all clubs were shutdown in Scotland while queens in England were still able to work

Please hear me out: I 100% disagree with the comment that the George Floyd protest didn't have somethingt to do with the fact that Jaida won. It 100% did. Does that mean Jaida is not worthy of the title? Absolutely not. But Ru Paul's Dragrace has ALWAYS been in tune with social discourse, picking winners and storylines that would create the most buzz and add to positive social change / discourse. To think otherwhise is just ignorant. Please don't be a RuPologist that will always defend the picked winner, no matter what. The winners 100% deserve their win, every time. I would argue if you make it to the top 3/4 you are somewhat deserving of the title. It's just RuPauls Emmy's choice at that point. I think Jaida is a fabulous winner, and I am happy she won. She is absolutely deserving. Was so happy to see her win. But in an alternate Universe where Gigi or Crystal won, you would sit here make the same video and bring the same arguments over why the fanbase thinks one of the other girls shouldve won I guarantee!!!!

Because most of the fanbase are rupologist. Did Nymphia winning bring a lot of queer interest in Taiwanese culture? Well yes. nymphia is prob one of my fave queens ever on Drag Race idcccc. During the watch parties everytime nymphia came on screen people would cheer or scream for her. She’s def one of the most loved winners too

The fans kind of turned on Gigi a bit mid season, as they felt she was getting clearly favored by the judges and earned a win or two that wasn't quite deserved. In fact, at the time of the Top 3 social media posts, Crystal was the favorite to win, with Jaida in second
I think that if Plain didn't stick to her narrative of fun shady tomfoolery and did her podcast more honestly she would've made it to the top 2 and Saphira would've won. No disrespect to Nymphia, I honestly would've been happy if any of the top 4 won.

How was Willow frontrunner? Bosco, Angeria and Camden all had better track records. Daya also could have easily won more challenges and there's isn't a challenge apart from the ball that Willow could have won.

It may not be controversial but season 14's top two, Lady Camden and Willow Pill still stands out as a WTF top two especially seeing how much steam Angeria had up until the third from the last episode. Am still stunned she wasn't crowned.
There’s absolutely nothing controversial about nymphias win unless you’re a delusional sapphira Stan, besides snatch game she had an incredible track record, phenomenal runways and performance and was entertaining, and honestly the top 3 was one of the best top 3 the show has ever had, if this was like season 6 where the finale was just a reunion and the finalist don’t do anything and just get crowned I wouldn’t be surprised if nymphia, plane, or sapphira won they all had ups and downs in the competition but still did phenomenal but after the finale we got with their runways, performances, and lipsync there’s no way nymphia wasn’t winning
yes there was: In most of the latter episodes Nymphia was edited out. She was a background character until the final challenge.
@@johnnybaxter8078 I’m confused how she was edited out in ep 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, and 14 where she showed how amazing she was, was mostly in the top with 3 wins, and got praise from the judges and other queens, and had plenty of confessional, and even in ep 8, 10, and 12 where she did poorly she still wasn’t in the background but opening up about her self esteem issues failing those challenges helped her win ep 14 so it was a full circle moment for her storyline, literally only ep she was in the background was maybe ep 7 ( and maybe ep 4 but I skipped it when I saw mirage was eliminated so idk how she did ) so I’m genuinely have no idea how you think she was a background character 💀

i want to watch the original edit of s12... as it aired, Gigi Goode's story is not exactly a winner edit. She had massive fan support because she's skinny, white and fashion, but she did quite poorly in multiple challenges and was saved from the bottom. Her crowning wouldn't be half as satisfying as Jaida's, who had a very traditional winner track record despite receiving little help from the producers.

I was rooting for Saphira, but I have to recognize that her winning woud be far more controversial, since they both did equally good through the season, had equally good solo numbers, so it all came down to the final lip sync. If they didn't give it to Nymphia they may as well retire the lip sync for the crown format.
I quite don't believe Willow Pill was the front runner... she got a good storyline, yes, she got a lot of time to speak for herself and her health and how much she has suffered...but I believe she was completely an underdog...she reached the finale with 1win, while lady Camden had 4...
For Nymphia, she had to win, clearly to break the Asian queen curse...and she did really well, with 2.125 wins, outstanding runways, never seen before personality and an elevated drag...

Sasha is also controversial because she was robbed during the season. She was clearly the winner in the Ball (Shea's cape was beautiful, but she "only" did a cape while Sasha did a complete look) and in the Makeover, but Rupaul gave the win to Shea and Trinity. 😬

Tyra slayed S2. Sasha slayed the finale. Ginger or Violet ok. Violet definitely proved afterward. Eureka should've won S10. Brooklyn got old with that ballet stuff. S12 Jaida won rightfully so if not Sherry Pie did slay. I rooted for Jaida. Even Crystal over Gigi.
Sasha Colby is a great Queen BUT that did not translate so smoothly to the format of the program, and the favoritism was very noticeable.

All Stars 3 made me stop watching the show. It was the most contrived BS ever. Sure Ben Dela was a frontrunner, but Shangela had the same number of wins at that point and it would've made sense to crown her, too. But they clearly wanted Trixie to win for whatever reason, despite having zero challenge wins and so they made up that whole juror thing to make it happen.
