Oval head shape will lead towards a better sweet spot lower in the head than compared to something like the boom or gravity. The 98 inches in this tour are fairly well distributed above and below the lateral halfway line. A racquet like the boom has more string bed above the imaginary halfway line and therefore will be more accommodating to those who hit higher on the string bed. I’d love to learn something new tho, so please explain why I’m wrong. I frequently am.
Just leaving a much thanks comment for the solid review! I’m demoing the Extreme Tour this weekend in hopes of possibly replacing my Pure Drive 98 (it’s much stiffer than expected) ~ Aloha
Definitely, the gravity line is one of my favourites! Bit slow with the videos these days, a lot going on behind the scenes lol I have the vcore 95 and new pro staff reviews in the works then the gravity will be next. Keep your eyes out for it!
@@MikeKomen Sounds great ! Just something to had if I may. Have you ever considered trying the one handed backhand? Mine was looking the same as yours few times ago. I did struggle with the 2hb which was pretty flat and inconsistent. It takes time to readapt but it is worth it. I'm pretty sure you ll benefit about it.
I'm no expert. But I love this racket. Excellent spin. Good control. And it just feels buttery soft. An underappreciated racket IMO. I fell in love with it after the first hew hits with a demo and am still playing it 14 months later.
I recently bought this racket after trying 6 demos. I played with vcore 98 for 3 years and now I can’t go back. It surely lacks power compared to vcore but it’s more easier to handle.
Mike, thanks for the video. I have the same racket as well as backup vcore and clash (yep, I like playing with different sticks) and yesterday I have added 2 gr to 3 and 9 o’clock to add some stability and plow. But surprisingly- I kept having nice forehand and backhand but it totally stole my first serve. All that I could manage to do is second kickserve. I took Vcore and bang - 3/3 flat serves were in. So I thought that balance that I have changed in Extreme tour by adding 4 grams total was the reason. So I went to head website and saw that it was 315. So I probably moved it to 310 mm. And vcore has stock 320 mm but with my leather base grip it probably became 325-330 mm. What do you think - is it possible? And should I add leather to my Extreme tour as well? Thanks in advance!
Usually a touch of weight at 12 would help with the serve power but I read that someone else added a leather grip to the extreme and loved it, so could be worth a try!
@@MikeKomen well, I meant that I couldn’t just manage to get the string bed to the right place to serve flat first serve, like the inertia with added to 3 and 9 weight simply slowed my hand down. That’s what I mean, not the lack of power. Just finished training session with leather grip - things got better , some of first serves were in, almost fine. Will keep exploring)
Hey mate, just want to let you know that adding weight on the head will move the balance point up, so 315 to 320mm. And alternatively, adding weight in the handle or a leather grip will move the balance point down. The measurement is done from the handle side.
Thank you for the amazing review. I am currently using this racket and can do everything with it. The only downside of the extreme tour is when you play against big hitters, It lacks stability and is very hard to handle big shots even though I added 4 grams of lead tape at 3 & 9 but still not as stable as it should be. Apart from stability, I found this racket is the best racket I ever used.
Thanks for the kind words Alhadi! Sounds like both of us had a very similar experience with this one. What other racquets were you considering at the time?
@@MikeKomen Recently I tried the Babolat Pure drive tour and Babolat Pure strike 3rd gen. I found pure drive tour is very stable and powerful and can serve excellent with it. The only issue with pure drive tour is its high stiffness as I struggle with a sore arm every time I play with it. With regard to Pure strike 16x19 3rd gen, it's a really decent racket with loads of control, stability and above-average power. The good thing with Pure strike is that I do not need to customise it as it's playable in its standard condition. Pure strike I think plays better with higher-level players who can hit a flat shot with more control.
I felt that the ezone was a bit stiffer for me, had more control, felt very direct. I got more comfort spin and power from the extreme. Depends what you like. I suggest test before you buy! Hope that helps
what s your feeling between this one and the vpro95 ? need a new racket, i tried the 95 and loved the control and precision (but lacking power on serve). Would you switch ?
I was thinking of switching soon because I need more power from the 95 but I’ll see if I can make it better with more powerful strings and a bit more weight before I start to consider other racquets. The new gravity looks really promising too.
This racket can be used by anyone and it crazy how its mainly for higher level individuals but i feel its very easy to use and grow with especially if you have a one hander, just lower the tension. Even at high tensions, it feels good, and i came from a pure drive 98, that racket blows. Really enjoyed the racket so far, just switched after demoing 10 rackets.

it can handle pretty much whatever is coming at you as long as your timing is good. Even if you’re off a bit it’s still forgiving unless it’s a really high quality shot coming your way. Hope that helps!
I'm a 3.5 and started a year ago, been playing with the pure drive 98 to help my backhand, it gets the job done, but even though i get through my lessons and makes much better shots now, the PD 98 is extremely jarring. I've considered the PURE AERO 100, but I'm afraid it will mess my one hander up. Would this racket be more forgiving (arm friendly) vs a pure drive 98 or is it also jarring. Pure drive is stiffer then the Pure AERO 98 for a example. Could use advice on a 98 for my one hander that's not so harsh on off hits.
@@MikeKomen Thanks, I demoed it for the last week, and its fantastic, I really don't understand how or why i bought a pure drive 98 when this exist. wth how is this so forgiving compared to the PD. My PD is gut poly, and it plays worse then a Extreme Tour with dead RPM blast. Its unreal to me that I wasted my money on a racket that bad. I want my money back
Friend, I am quite disappointed with my extreme tour, it turns out that despite the light weight I find that the swing speed is low, it is difficult for me to squeeze power out of this racket, I added six grams of lead at 12 o'clock and changed the grip of factory for one of 10 grams, even so it is difficult for me to accelerate and transfer the air. To achieve that, would it be good to counteract with a gram in the grip? Even my custom prestige auxetic tour with six grams at 12 o'clock feels faster. Please help. I want this racket to feel like my old yonex vcore 98 from 2018.

This one had head hawk touch at 52lbs of tension. In my usual racquet I use Dunlop black widow at 50lbs
@@MikeKomen gauge? 18 (1.21mm) ?
16 gauge I think but not 100% sure
You think the Extreme is better for whippy strokes and topspin in compared with the Ezone and Vcore?
From my experience I would say yes compared to the ezone no compared to the vcore
Did you try the new vcore 95? You get more spin even though it’s a 95 and 16 x 20?
