In the mid 1990s l had an '81 510 hatchback with a/c and automatic. lt was a great car. Wish they still made cars like that.

I'll take the 521 and 620 series trucks. Love the Datsun/Nissan cars and trucks.

The 510 that was introduced in 1977 was called the Nissan Violet in Japan.

521 series trucks to. The 620's were nice to, however especially loved the 521 series trucks the very best.

That wireframe car was high production quality for the late 70s.

We arrrrrrre driven. I distinctly remember these catchy commercials. It's been a long while since I've seen a Datsun, although I have seen a couple of Datsun 280 Zs. I had a 82 210, the last year for the Datsun name and the good ole rear drive 5 spd. It was a fantastic car.

I was very sad that I wasn't old enough to remember the "Datsun Saves" commercials. I only came of age during the "We Are Driven" campaign. Just like I wasn't old enough to remember President Nixon, but was old enough to remember President Ford🤨

I just love these old commercials and just love my 83 datsun 280zx and my 77 Datsun 810 there the best especially since they both have small block Chevys in them

Strange that so many of these are still running but the junkyard are littered with very new looking Nissans. Why can we not have just a some car again? They lasted incredibly long.

      4021971:
What are you talking about? The Late 1960s-1970s were the onslaught of the Japanese bringing affordable and very dependable Datsun,Toyota, and Honda(MItsubshi with the Dodge Colt,Mazda Ford Ranger, Chevy Luv...aka Isuzu pickup,etc.).........the beginning downfall of the Big 3. The Datsun B210 was a no-brainer....dirt cheap and very durable.
Now, even back then.....if you ran a engine out of oil or overheated from the radiator or AC condenser being clogged with bugs, grime or whatever...who's fault is it? the dumb-ass operator then and now.
Or worse case scenario, fouled a plug from lack of maintenance, etc. and clogged-up a cat, cracked manifold,screwed-up the head/valves,etc. from overheating it. Whose fault is it ? You, the dumb operator....more so with a Standard coolant/idiot light temp gauge....which many of models of the Big did not even offer.
Why do you think the French market and(owners of Nissan) charge a premium for Extant "Datsun" badged Nissan's in select countries? They were inexpensive and bullet-proof back in the day with minimal maintenance.

D McNamara yes, but their main nail-in-the-coffin was the rust. I have a 240z and it’s floors are pretty much gone.

@@dmcnamara9859 if it wasn't for that 120y and the stanza where would the pulsar, tiida and for you americans sentra and versa even exist for nissan and before that datsun from the seventies to not to so long ago.(shame you can't get in australia at least)get any small nissans anymore it's all crappy suv's such as the juke or qashqai now.
