Pro tip -those are heat welded tabs you broke when you took the back cover off, not just clips as well. far better to remove the back cover with the plastic housing bezel from the front. you leave the bezel attached to the back cover that way you don't break the heat welded tabs off.

This is still one of the best tablets even in 2017

So true. Keep waiting for something better to come out but everything they release is not that far ahead. Galaxy s3 specs are only marginally better

And the S3 is smaller and les resolution i think.

I agree. This tablet's AMOLED display puts it miles beyond anything they are making today. Yes, some of the newer tabs have a little better processing power, but not much. It was almost laughable when they released the second gen "S Tabs", as they were definitely inferior to the previous generation.

Thanks for the excellent video! I usually don't like taking about these sealed device like tablets and cell phones- sometimes breaking that initial seal creates some messy/cracked/broken parts. But except for a small scratch on the back cover (I was a little careless initially), it came off relatively easy. And the battery itself was very easy to take out. In some devices, you have to take out layers to get to it. To avoid the careless scratch I inflicted on my tablet's back, I recommend others probe around the back until they find an easy spot to pry out- once you get it out, a guitar pick worked perfectly in loosening the rest (just take your time and don't force it).

Thanks for doing this video, it was very useful and showed my exact model. Another video I looked at had a different back on it and it was not useful. I had to replace my battery, because the old battery suddenly decided that it wanted to try to push the screen out. The screen had come out in the middle on both sides by several milometers because of the bulge in the battery. I did have some difficulty in removing the back, as it took a lot of pressure to get it off. But the replacement went well and the tablet is now back in use again.

Any idea why most of the other tutorials on the S2 choose to gain entry from the front of the tablet? Has anyone tried both methods?

Because you didn't explain the mechanisms that hold the 2 black cables properly, I have broken the charging one at the join, simply because it isnt easy to see which part you opened and in which direction it moves. I feel you should have been a bit more precise, rather than just saying it flips open. I wish you'd said how delicate they are before starting.
You shouldn't assume people know how to do everything that you do, this is why we're here. I now have to go find someone else to show me how to change the charging component. Thanks!
