Thanks Minda, this is one of those 'If you don't know it exists you'd never find it!" things (especially as Excel Add-ins are disabled by our IT Department). I've just had this add-in enabled by our IT guys and had a chance to have a play. I'm developing an Excel/Power Query/Power BI based Project Planner application (because our current MS Project solution is hated to the point of staff despairing of achieving anything... fair comment, it sucks bad!) and the ability to dynamically create (and quickly 'what if' modify) flowcharts for individual sprints looks like an absolute game changer. Not least for my career, I'm still working through my probation period... I think you may have just secured my job for me! :)
I'm just now coming to your channel and find it 100% useful. Clear, concise and relevant examples and demos, 2 thumbs up. Thanks & I look forward to more.
I recently subbed to the channel. I'm enjoying the education so far. Can I ask if you can create these videos in a higher resolution (2K or 4K) It would make it much easier for people to read the data in the cells. A cheeky ask I know, however I straggle to perceive what your doing, when I can't read the cell data. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Great to have you subscribe, Mark! I generally try to record at 720p because HD is unreadable for those watching on mobile/tablet devices. To be fair, the flowchart font is ridiculously small!
Great video, always learning. Just a quick question when signing into the visio addin, I am struggling to sign in with my personal account, do you know if sign in has to be with a work or school account?
Yes, Dave. It does need to be a work or school account. Seems silly, but you can still use it without logging in. It just means you can't share it using the Visio for Web app.
HI, Ran across this today. Thank you. Do you know if any way to go backwards from Visio to Excel? I have an existing flowchart in VIsio and want to bring it all back to Excel for a documentation request. For me moving forward, do you have the excel file template file you used, sorry if missed that.
Very cool feature! thanks for the great explanation :) Unfortunately I have an Office 365 Family subscription and it appear to want a work or student login. Am I out of luck? If I just buy a visio subscription separately would I still be able to use the excel plugin? Should I somehow upgrade my Office 365 account? What is my best option?
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub thx for the prompt reply. I would like to be able to interoperate with an excel spreadsheet as I often will have a process described by a colleague in excel and would like to be able to respond with a proper flowchart. Since we aren't sure if a Visio sub would accomplish this, how would I upgrade my family version of 365 to a work version that I can be sure would provide this functionality?
Not sure I'll get a reply...I have created an excel file for visio (365). The Excel file has different tabs for different agency departments, as does the visio file (to match the excel workbook tabs). Whenever I try to import the data to create an org chart, it imports the wrong tab (like HR instead of the FISCAL tab). Am I missing something?
Thanks a lot for this link. I was looking for such functionality. but i have 2 more questions: 1. Can this be made more interactive just as power BI Decomposition tree. 2. Can this be integrated with data imported from Data Model / using Power Query.
i`ve got some problem "the add in is not supported for the web browser you`re currently using.please try with a different web browser". help please, thanks..
If I get a flowchart which was not created in excel, am I able to export it to excel? Co-worker created a basic flowchart directly in Visio. I want to export it to excel so I can make changes and maintain it easily.
Hi, is it possible to export visio data to excel? Say, i have a project drawing with its materials list (in visio) and i want to link the materials list to an excel workbook.
My flowcharts are not as neatly arranged as yours. The shapes end up crowded, Lines muddle together . When I edit the diagram, it works but as soon as i need to add new data and refresh it. Its back to being jumbled
Hi Tracy! I m a new subscriber from Portugal. This Add in is amazing! However when I try to sign in the app requires : 1 - View my basic profile. 2 - Has acess to all my files. 3 - Begin session and read my profile. Is it normal? Can I tust and be safe with this app/add in?
Yes, it sounds very heavy handed. I've provided the same feedback to Microsoft because in reality it only needs access to the current file. They are working on re-wording that screen. You can trust the app. It's created by Microsoft.
Thank you very much Tracy! I will follow your advice. I found your excellents tesching / tutorials videos on TH-cam few days ago, as well your site. Let me explore more and I will contact you. Regards, Carlos Santos
Thanks Mynda. I logged into my 365 account fine. When I try to work with a flowchart, I am getting this error: "Your OneDrive access needs to be setup for saving the Visio file. Please make sure you have valid OneDrive license and have access to OneDrive. You may need to work with your admin to get the access." What is this? Apparently I cannot use Visio until this is done? We already have a SHAREFILE account set up
This is simply telling you that if you want to use the Visio for Web interface you need to save your Excel file containing the Visio diagram on OneDrive. You can still use the add-in in Excel if you don't login/save to OneDrive, you just can't open it in Visio for Web.
Not sure why it would fail for you, Andrew. If you have Microsoft support, you could try reaching out to them. If not, use the feedback in Excel to send a frown so they can troubleshoot. Also, the contact details for the Visio team are in this video's description, so you can reach out direct.

You really amazing . You illustrate every complex thing in simple words
Thanks so much! I'm pleased I could help.
Hi, this is Arup from India. This excel add in will be quite helpful for me. Thank you.
Glad to hear that, Arup!
Hi Mynda.. great video. Thanks for the quick look at Visio for Excel. Thumbs up!
Thanks for watching, Wayne :-)
I've always learn a lot in your tutorials! More powers
Happy to hear that!
Hi Mynda!Holy Smokes What A Great Tool,Definientley Going To have Fun Trying It Out..Thank You For This Great Tip :-)
Have fun, Darryl!
UR content always amazing...👍🏻
Thanks so much!
Thank you! Was searching flow charts recently and thinking of course of Visio. And thank you for this great discovery!
Glad it was helpful, Maria!
I didn't know you could download add-ins! Thanks!
Yes, there's a treasure trove to explore :-)
Fantastic as always :)Keep up the good work. I will look forward to the next lesson.
Thank you! 😃
Thank you, it was very helpful
Glad to hear that!
We need more videos, really very smart and tricky, will done 👍

Amazing lesson.
Glad you think so!
Wasn’t aware. Sounds like a great tool!
Hope you can make use of it, Paolo
This is very helpful. Thanks

Thank you! I like to discover new things in Excel :D
Glad it was of interest, David!
Thank you very much, like it. Could you please tell me if you have a class link that shows how did you created data/ source file? Thanks!
Hi Julie, the source data table is inserted when you insert the flow chart. You can then modify the table to suit your needs.
is this available in web version?
Not sure.
I recently subbed to the channel. I'm enjoying the education so far.
Can I ask if you can create these videos in a higher resolution (2K or 4K)

Hi, thank you for this very informative tutorial. Is it possible to add hyperlinks?
Not to individual nodes in the flowchart, if that's what you mean.
Hi Team, wondering how to edit the title in this chart? Have to have subscription for this function? Thanks!
You currently can't edit the title.
Now if I could convince my company to enable add-ins...
Yes...that might be a problem. This is a Microsoft add-in, and it's available from their add-ins library, if that helps.
First thing thanks for tutorial. The issue is the visio is not free 😢 and also how can I make the chart vertical not horizontal?
Great video, always learning. Just a quick question when signing into the visio addin, I am struggling to sign in with my personal account, do you know if sign in has to be with a work or school account?
Yes, Dave. It does need to be a work or school account. Seems silly, but you can still use it without logging in. It just means you can't share it using the Visio for Web app.
How to change title of chart ?
It's not possible yet!
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Are there any updates to this? It seems so obvious a need, or to be able to remove the title block section.

Glad you liked it! I don't know if you can export from Visio to Excel, sorry. The template is automatically inserted when you insert the flowchart.
Thanks for the video. I have a question: How can I change "Title" by the name of my process map?
Last time I used this, you couldn't change the title.
How do you change the title of the flow chart? Couln‘t find the option..
You can’t change it at the moment.
Ezcellent, thank you 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Glad you liked it!
How do you change the title
You can't change it in Excel! Hopefully Microsoft will fix that in an update soon.
Very cool feature! thanks for the great explanation :)

Hi John, I'm not sure if having a Visio subscription would unlock this feature in Excel, but you'd certainly be able to build the flowchart in Visio.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub thx for the prompt reply. I would like to be able to interoperate with an excel spreadsheet as I often will have a process described by a colleague in excel and would like to be able to respond with a proper flowchart.

Good morning, Tobaye!
What would be the best template to use on Visio for displaying folder structure that I am looking to create?
Not sure as I don't use Visio, sorry.
Oh, How can i buy the T Shirt you wearing :)
They're not available anymore, sorry :-(

You're welcome! No, you can't use this like a decomposition tree and yes, you can use the output of a query as your source data for the flowchart.
Hi, can you convert a Visio diagram into the excel data visualiser spreadsheet?
I’m not sure as I don’t use Visio, sorry.
Thank you. Is there an updated version of this add-on?
Does anyone know how to make the lines dashes? Or do I need to extract out and buy the Visio license?
I don't think they're editable in Excel.
i`ve got some problem "the add in is not supported for the web browser you`re currently using.please try with a different web browser".
help please, thanks..
I can't tell you much more than the error suggests and that's to try a different browser e.g. if you're using Firefox, then try Edge etc.
Is it also possible to convert an existing Visio flowchart into an Excel Process Map or table?
Not sure as I'm not familiar with Visio.
If I get a flowchart which was not created in excel, am I able to export it to excel? Co-worker created a basic flowchart directly in Visio. I want to export it to excel so I can make changes and maintain it easily.

Can this be done on a MAC? MAC does not have a design tab.
As far as I know, however it is only available with a Microsoft 365 account.
