Planing to change my clutch and this is the only video I found that actually helped me you can see my st in my pfp and I got plans for this car thanks man 😂🙏🏼
I didnt see a mention of torque wrench and proper torque specs. For this level of component that sees harsh usage, its very important to follow the OEM torque specs for flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate bolts. In fact, there are stages of torquing the bolts down for certain components, similar to the head/valve cover sequencing. But, otherwise a pretty thorough walk through of removal/installation. Definitely pay attention to manufacturer break-in periods and methods as they can claim you didnt follow directions if you attempt to warranty a part thats faulty. *also, i believe most people will reverse bleed the clutch. It actually pushes air up to the reservoir and out, so you're not having to pump the clutch at all. I used one on my clutch install when i did the engine swap too and it worked great as a solo person who also does all my own work without help *also, also (lol), I have NEVER removed my wipers when removing the cowling to get the intake out or do work under the engine in the back. All you need to do is remove the lower piece (2 10mm bolts), then you can flip the wiper up, careuflly bend the cowling as you slide it up over the wiper arm, then the other side will simply slide up over the other wiper arm. Removing those 14mm nuts can be tedious and some have broken the wiper motor mounts trying to get it off.
Hi, love the content! I agree with your statement amount the rattle noise at 42:37. Additionally the increase NVH is likely due to the crankshaft counter-balance assembly fighting against the lightweight flywheel. Had an issue with this in my 04 Nissan Sentra SER SpecV. Thing started breaking starters too.
You are awesome! I do everything by myself and couldn't imagine having to film (you do great with the angles by yourself too) I just picked an escape motor because of a cracked head in my st and was debating weather to get a clutch now or keep using my stock clutch (looks really good). After watching this I'm gonna wait, I just got a gtx2867 gen 2 and am not going to be able to tune it if I put a new clutch in. lol btw I decided I could pick up a new motor in the hatch of my other st from watching your videos. ;)
did it by myself. I had the harbor freight engine holder. I tried to man handle the trans then I used the engine holder and just used the extra hook. raised it till it was even and it slide right in. I spent and hour trying to get it and the hoist took 10 mins. did you change out all the use once nuts and bolts???
Ey mate I am going to replace the clutch and flywheel of my 2014 ford focus 1.6 tdci and I was wondering do you have the nm for the flywheel bolts thanks
for bleeding the clutch, since it uses fluid from the braking system, could I uses a brake flush machine to pressurize the system like you would on a brake flush? would it pressurize the clutch system ?
@@tbr.performance thank you for the quick reply! Also great video! You’ve helped me whenever had to do the motor swap and also the heads and cams! Thank you for the help!!
Great video,Bro!- I'll definitely be going to the local high end tool store for an overpriced T55 bit. I couldn't imagine the drama of blowing one out and ruining the inside of one of those flywheel bolts! Also, the next homie that you help with a tranny/clutch job need to buy you a Harbor freight transmission jack.
Im by far not a mechanic, why would my clutch be all the way to the floor like you push it and its straight to the floor after changing the clutch i had someone do it for me and apparently he doesn't know what he did wrong. I break the bleeder valve open and nothing comes out I push the clutch it sticks to the floor any help?
Leo Hernandez So far it’s held up great! I don’t get to see his car that often but from what I’ve heard it’s holding stronger than ever! I recently got an ACT clutch and flywheel in for the built engine so we’ll see how that does as well.
You can insert Bell housing bolts into the engine block loosely and insert a screwdriver into the teeth of the flywheel against the bolts to hold everything while torquing the bolts
erik ludlow that’s exactly the problem I’m having, I only started to notice it after flash tuning it with the Cobb access port, not sure if theirs any correlation . A custom tune is in the near future and was hoping that it would solve this , if it doesn’t it looks like I would no choice but to make the switch, it would be nice to understand what causes the issue .
erik ludlow so I just retuned with a stratified flash tune , it was like 75$ , problem solved and a lot more power, also ordered the guardian Angel from them form complete control.
I doubt clutch masters would have designed the pressure plate springs to rest so close to the throw out bearing that they rattle on one another. If I contacted them and that was their answer I'd be pissed. Not only is that bad for the throw out bearing it can potentially put tiny amounts of pressure in the clutch line and cause the slave to leak over time. Not to mention the likely hood of the throw out bearing wearing out prematurely. Immediately would return their product. That's unsatisfactory.
Great video, i have a few questions. what caused the engine to need a replacement? about how many miles were on the original clutch? I'm at 91k so far and the clutch doesn't seem to have any issues. Once again great video, i'm looking forward to my replacement
David Talon Thank you for the kind words! So the clutch that was removed had about 95k on it but it was abused. The engine gave out because of a fueling issue. Without auxiliary fueling, these cars don’t tend to last past 330hp.
Thanks for the detailed how to!!!!! Wow that's a lot of work you did and shared with all of us. MUCH APPRECIATED!
Very detailed and should definitely be a watch for anyone doing a clutch replacement. Mad props for doing this by yourself!
Bro love your videos, you inspired me to install my first exhaust last weekend and I've never felt more accomplished after firing it up.
Much Love
Awesome video man! I'm about to do the clutch to my 2016 st and this video is a huge help. Keep up the great videos.
Great job. Nice to see how it's done in case I ever have to replace the clutch in my ST.

I just bought an ST like yours but white ST1 package. Tmi wanted to do a full service but this is a ton of work
You've inspired me to now just pay someone else to do it for me 🙌
Real 😢😢
Took my st to the dealer 1200 dollars. Worth it!

Ive been debating on swapping over to an RS clutch and bits, I’m on 130k miles on my factory installed clutch.
Awesome video! Definitely saved for later for whenever my clutch dies off. Love the build and the videos!

Pro tip: focus wiper blades have an automatic reset that prevents any slop. They are self-correcting
Brilliant job on your own I’ve just had mine done on a 2l petrol focus with a dual mass flywheel price £900 pounds 1200 of your dollars 💵
How’d you torque the flywheel bolts??🤔
What clutch master kit is that ???
Great video! I have a 2014 SE and was thinking about changing the clutch, this helps.
I have a 2013 SE and may need to replace the rear main seal, yikes. While I’m doing it I’ll replace the clutch.
only if it’s a manual..
Love the content and keep up the great work
Great job on the install.
How’s the clutch holding so far? Looking to upgrade clutch on my MK3 RS but can’t decide which way to go
Ey mate I am going to replace the clutch and flywheel of my 2014 ford focus 1.6 tdci and I was wondering do you have the nm for the flywheel bolts thanks
The one thing I came here for you said “make a mental note” lol
Can you leave the OEM flywheel? Shits expensive.
you should use a smaller bottle and have the hose longer going into some brake fluid
why did you take off the wipers???
for bleeding the clutch, since it uses fluid from the braking system, could I uses a brake flush machine to pressurize the system like you would on a brake flush? would it pressurize the clutch system ?
there is no clutch fluid on a manual
the clutch and flywheel sit between the engine and transmisison
@@calebeagan2658 Wrong.. This has a hydraulic clutch system. Uses fluid to press the clutch
great video
super excellent job men in which part of the us are you i have one just like it?
Southern California!
That’s awesome 👍👍
Do you have to do this entire process just to replace the slave? Mine just went out

Yes. The trans needs to be removed to replace it.

Sounds like they didn’t bleed the clutch. You have to bleed all the air out of the clutch system.
@@tbr.performance so whenever the valve is open no fluid is coming out like barley any comes out .
Have you changed the turbo on your st?
I know this is late but fixing to replace my own st clutch. How has the clutch masters clutch held up?

How did you torque down the flywheel without a lock?
You can insert Bell housing bolts into the engine block loosely and insert a screwdriver into the teeth of the flywheel against the bolts to hold everything while torquing the bolts

30:34 just need a can of black spray paint
? Bpv/bov controlled by solenoid vs running a line from the manifold symposer delete, witch is better?
In my opinion running to the intake manifold makes it not go off like crazy whereas with the solenoid it goes off every time you lift off the throttle
