Thanks a bunch! Works great and very easy. For those wondering, I had a game that was 767mb once I extracted it and a CD holds only 700mb. I didn’t have to do anything differently, just selected my CDI and inserted my blank CD and burned it. After 8min or so since I burned at 2X, I popped it in my Dreamcast and it loaded perfectly. I haven’t messed around with burned DC games in quite a few years and I remember the old methods with Alcohol 120% program and all the boxes you have to tick or you’d make a coaster or an audio disc since that’s what the DC would read. Seems much easier than 10yrs ago when I last did these. Thanks again for the link and video!
Ive watched a ton of tutorials and I couldn't get imgburn to work. You are the only one who said to try the cdi on the emulator first, that done the trick. Way to go.
@justincase5704 Yes a little hit miss when you download the games. I was surprised that I got Skies of Arcadia to copy... I actually have the original game with both CDs... It's only missing the manual.
I actually just started to mess around with the dreamcast. I only have one so I'm looking online to grab a second to do the GDEMU. Seems like that would be the way to go if you don't mind hard modding your console... do you have it running GDEMU??
@@justincase5704 yeah it was not bad actually I still have the optical drive but the GDEMU I had found 2 images online they both worked great just gotta use quality SD cards
Thanks for this Justin, do you know if this will work on a December 2000 VA2 NTSCU dreamcast? I've tried burning games with other methods but to no avail, as I think this might be a model with the MIL support removed.
Thanks for the video! I backed up a ton of my games, but I am running into some issues. Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and Shenmu are saving as audio discs, not games. I noticed the 'sectors' changes from (MODE2/FORM1/2336) changes to (AUDIO/2352). Though I don't know why it's changing to that. Thanks!
Some games need more modding on the files to work and each game can be slightly different . If you go online you can look for a cdi image of that game which has the edits done and compare or just burin that cdi you got online.. I made alot of coasters with the dreamcast lol
It's best to burn at your CD burners slowest setting. Don't go under the lowest recommended setting or that may cause corrupt data. If you use img burn it tell you what the speed is
Ya, I always used brand name media to burn too, and go within its specs, it won't completely rule out a bad burn but you and can put it to the last on the list if you end up troubleshooting. I was going to do a video on the dics drive emulator if I get my hands on another dreamcast
can anyone assist me as img burn keeps stopping completely when i hit 9 percent when im trying to burn code veronica I tested it through NDC and it worked and ive used my dvd drive to burn ps2 games no problem, would it still be my disc drive?
For anyone that's still trying to do this in 2024. Some helpful tips. 1. Verbatim cdrs are ok to use. 2. Burning 10x is fine 3. Do not have an external drive in or any file explorer windows open. I did this on an old laptop and noticed whenever I tried to write with a usb drive in or a file explorer window open it failed. Copy files to somewhere in your computer and don't try to write off an external. 4. Wait a few minutes before trying tbe game and and try the game 3 or more times. Sometimes it won't work the first time so power off your dreamcast and try a few more times before you make it into a coaster. 5. CDIs from a site with romance in the name all seem to work. 6. External burners are hit or miss I luckily found an old laptop so that seems to work better 7. Change the write type to incremental from dao/Sao You'll still get failed burns so buy a stack on 50 verbatims and don't lose hope

Just burned my first DC game (Marvel vs Capcom 2) and it actually works on my system. Thanks.
Had to restart the software and change the speed to 8 and then it worked perfect !!!
Awesome... dreamcasts can make people pull their hair out!!! Lol

Great tutorial, keep up the good work!
Tried Crazy Taxi and the music stutters like crazy and the graphics disappear.
Awesome video..do you prefer using the burned method or GDEMU?

What about bin and cue files? Will it not work?
I'm new at burning DC games. Are all Dreamcast games burnable in a CD-R? Doesn't the dreamcast have GD-rom? a 1gb above disc?

Yeah I think you're right, I think the only work around is modifying the disk drive with the emulated Drive loader

Which blank DVD do you recommend off of Amazon?
Any brand named DVD-r should work fine... avoid any knockoff or discount brand. Verbatim or Maxell both work
does it actually matter about burning speeds? and usually when i select 4x speed it still doesnt burn at 4x speed, let me know

@@justincase5704 yeah it usually doesnt follow what speed you put, you had AWS you didnt change it in your vid
It generally doesn't matter but if your running into problems then at least you can rule out a bad burn for the most part
@@justincase5704 or bad discs?

Is there a way to get imgburn without the adware installed
I suggest Ninite
Man I was struggling for hours with the no devices detected! Message and it was just the cable 😮💨
I followed your instruction and still my Dreamcast won’t play my backup games. What should I do?
Make sure your Dreamcast has a number that's a circled 0,those are the ones that can play burned games without modding anything
Where do i get the patch files?
Good Old Google search. Try archive.org too
Thanks man. Easy.
Thanks Justin.
No problem
Thanks bro
