@MeatEaterMike VeggiesRBad4U So how does your comment have anything to do with lead and lipstick? And given your handle it seems like you're just trolling out here. I did watch the video you suggested because, I unlike yourself, can be open minded and not dogmatic.
Everything applied to the skin goes directly into the bloodstream without being detoxified by the liver. Same goes for what we breathe in, all those petrochemical perfumes. And all metals bioaccumulate! You don't want that! And besides that, there's beef tallow in lipstick. That's the funky smell we all know! Dr Cassar talked about lead in lipsticks and mercury in mascara years ago! And L'OREAL had the highest levels tested and that isn't cheap junk! Just toxic junk 😉! Eat organic fruit and be beautiful from within!
Thank goodness I have hardly ever worn lipstick or other makeup my entire life. The last few years I haven't worn makeup at all. I just recently bought some vegan eyeliner and mascara. This video will probably make me go back to no make up. Thank you Dr Greger.
Can you please do a video on contaminants like lead, arsenic, cadmium, etc in vitamins and supplements? Independent testing consistently finds high levels of these dangerous byproducts in them and people should be aware their health is being compromised.
I want to know more too. I believe lead is commonly found in calcium supplements made from animals' bones (bones have a tendency to accumulate and store lead), so vegan calcium supplements will skip that source at least. However, this may not be the only source?
@@Ben-fr8gi A large independent test of protein powders actually found the vegan ones to be the highest in toxic contaminants because like you said these tend to accumulate in bones not muscle, but in plants they're in the whole thing. There needs to be regulation to make the products safe but sadly there is none now.
I use Lavera, they're supposed to be safe. I was tested for lead by an fct therapist and told I had a problem with lead toxicity so I hope Lavera are what they say.
Thank u. Oh my gosh its crazy how much this is so downplayed and nothing s actually regulated. These companies literally getting bucks while wer suffering from these cancer causing chemicals
nothing is safe, the air is being sprayed with heavy metals daily, on top of factory pollution. The water is full of pharmaceuticals, chlorine, fluoride, metals, and the like. Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, all over your food, and your local park too. Your lap top and phone are emitting harmful radiation 24/7. Every time you fill your car with gas you're exposed to toxic fumes.
Need more women like you in the world :) To me personally makeup is so unattractive, sometimes a little makeup looks fine but other than that looks like a pile of junk on your face.
Never use lipstick but what about chapsticks and medicinal lipbalms? I use a lot of carmex. I get very painful skin cracks in my fingers and lips between the retentive stress on my hands at work and the winter I'm a mess. Carmex is the only 1 that's just camphor oil and petroleum and its it's only a dollar.
There's formaldehyde in lot's of lip conditioners also. I find it peculiar that this information continues to return cyclically; when it is old news. Why do you think cosmetics are tested on animals in the first place? Great episode regardless. Thank you.
Not my fault i dont like women looking like clowns. Had several GFs, never liked when they used lipstick and wayyyy too much makeup for parties. You have to break the conditioning, making your lips more red dont make you sexy.
I must belong to that minority of guys who find women wearing makeup unattractive. But I always liked genuine people/things more than their elaborated counterparts. When I see a girl revealing her natural face, and wearing humble, unrevealing clothes, I immediately fall in love. :D I remember staring at my ex with an expression of semi-disgust as she applied makeup on her face, and how she smiled at being stared at like that. xD Thanks Dr Greger for this important piece of the puzzle.
Good thing there's *SO* many safe beauty lines out there. Shame there's not more regulation but that's what happens for products that aren't geared towards men
@@catbrodeur623 Did you read your own comment? You insinuated that because make up is a product not geared towards men, that there are fewer regulations on the safety for that reason. Is your brain functioning properly or should i repeat again that the safety of products has absolutely nothing to do with gender.
Sadly, commercial tampons contain bleach and pesticides, etc. No one should put that in their body. Thankfully they sell organic tampons at target and online!
The conclusion from the beginning to the end is find make up products that contain 0% lead levels and no other heavy metals or dangerous chemicals. Probably not cheap.
I wouldn't always assume spending more means better. I've seen significant examples of the opposite. For example, where I live the supermarket own brand foods stopped using partially hydrogenated fats long before many of the higher priced branded foods did.
@paul w True, many are not confident in how they look so they cover up and hide behind a mask... Sadly a mask which actually causes their complexion to worsen due to many of the ingredients
It's great to see some guys encourage no make up. I believe all women look better without it. They've just become insecure because they've worn it for so long. Thanks for your comment, someone that needs to read it will!
I stopped wearing lippy last week!
Hench Herbivore ahh I am sooo glad. Good for you! 😹
You don't need it!
Oh c'mon, you look great.
💋....oops, sorry.
but but the jobs!!
So how do we get a list of safe lipsticks???
Buy the expensive ones and the colors showing less contamination (+ don’t be a makeup freak, wearing it ev. day and reapplying every 5min)
I'd still like a list or way to check what I'm currently using
Buy those made in Europe
Agreed, a list would be nice. If we can get (or find) that last study, it would outline the lipsticks tested.
Check EWG Skin Deep website.

Given the fact that make up is so widespread, there is so little information about it’s possible effects
@Throngdorr Mighty Yeah I know. They got to keep it going.
Thanks for expressing your opinion regarding my name 😉
Do you know which lipstick brands are safe to buy from?

I have always hated lipstick. Just feels weird and gross on. Lol now I have a legit reason to hate it! 3 lbs in a lifetime....gross. 🤮
Me too lipsticks.. It gives so artificial look
Oh no,
I wear barely any makeup to most people lipstick (Burt bees) eyeshadow and some eyeliner. I would like to know what's safe.

Recycle plastic makeup containers at AVEDA and quality beauty stores too!
Just gonna tell it like it is, any woman wearing lipstick looks like a streetwalker.
Nearly every woman looks like a prostitute? You must never have had a gf

That's all well and good if they lower the levels but that won't stop unregulated makeup that's cheap from overseas showing up on online shops...
