Thanks for all the time you spent researching the ACMO, the reverse search on marketing photos, the Formlabs mixed messaging on handling the build plates in their marketing photos, your print tests, and all the drop tests. Safety is paramount, but think I’d rather spend the additional dollars on safety equipment rather than on the additional cost of these two Formlabs resins over the typical costs of existing commercial resins already on the market. If Formlabs sold those resins at $22 to $30 a kg, then might try them. Also, the brittleness of the Formlabs tough resin kind of reduces the desirability of this resin for “tough” resin uses.
As a hobbyist living in an apartment and with a small office that I keep all my painting and printing gear, I may pick up a KG or two, despite the price. I'll still run my vents and fans and use the grow tent, but a few extra dollars (imo) is worth the health tradeoffs. Disclaimer: I have worked with Formlabs in a professional capacity before, toured their offices, and used their machines. The animosity the creator community has towards them is warranted. Hope they keep diving into this space with better resins and keep the promise Micronics had for a creator accessible SLS printer. Great video!
Great video! I appreciate you going deep into the safety aspect and staying totally impartial. I had high hopes for the tough resin. I’ve used Formlabs Durable and Tough 1500 before and they’re fantastic. Very disappointing that this isn’t even that tough by MSLA standards.
Enclose your resin printers (grow tent with exterior ventilation is a great option), wear nitrile gloves, wear eye protection, wear a respirator, don't touch your face/eyes while working on your prints. I've dealt with harmful stuff and seen the aftereffects of skin exposure and inhalation of questionable substances. Just be safe!
@@FigureFeedback By using a grow tent (or similar), you can even leave your hoods off of the printers making access even easier while using a small thermostatically controlled heater to consistently keep things at 30°C.
$45 a kg. Is way to expensive. Most plant based resin in the $17-$22 work great and are probably just as safe. I would give this resin a try but the price is too high
It is pricey for the consumer market. My assumption is because it's made in the USA and apparently the absence of ACMO also makes it more expensive to make.
It is certainly safer by some measurable amount. I'm not a professional, but I use an air quality monitor in my space (along with all recommended safety gear) and my plant based resins trip the monitor almost immediately to red levels. The formlabs resin doesn't register at all and there is no scent either.

excellent video, well thought out and sound opinions. thanks.
Thank you!
Have you tested this resin with the Heygears Reflex RS? Would love to know how it performs!
I haven't, but you're the second person to ask. I'm going to give it a shot.
@@FigureFeedback Thank you so much, this would be a dream pairing for me!

I want a resin printer
Молодцом, Джереми!
Hi,
For the RS supports, in the advanced support settings, try turning off the "ball connector", and setting the support tip size to 0.25mm. ;-)
