    Hello - just popped up.
    I must say that was an excellent representation of the sailing year. All the charts and drawings made it all clear. You recently asked for feedback regarding the channel, it may not surprise you, but I enjoy the offshore adventures just as much as the sailing episodes. Too much of either loses the personality of your channel. To be honest - there are hundreds of sailing channels now - and hardcore sailors have plenty of video of sailing and bikini's. I like that you two are keeping it real and how the channel revolves around your personalities and your marriage, mixed in with sailing and off shore activity. A highlight of the channel is when you two share the screen and chat about the goings on. You may not achieve the huge subscriber numbers of a lot of channels, but the best thing is the personal touch you provide. I personally enjoy each episode and stay up late Friday nights on the US west coast to "like" "subscribe" and "view." Enjoyed the recap very much. See you next week, and looking for some on the hard repairs. Those are fun too.

      Very interesting year in review, loved the map route to follow along. Can you share how sailors can stay longer in the Schengen countries? I thought it was 3 months max. and then exit for 3 months. Especially now as you begin to move through more countries, can you do a series on how each country handles their entries/visas/red-tape? I get that it's dependent on each person's passport, but it would be helpful to see your process.

    • @SailingABSea
      @SailingABSea  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Perri, as a UK flagged vessel and currently traveling on our UK passports the Schengen rule does not apply to us. After Brexit happens and the 12 month transition period ends we are then subject to Schengen rules. And you are correct, 3 months in a Schengen country and then 3 months out. But with only a handful of available none Schengen countries in the Med it makes life difficult. That's why we've decided to leave the Med around November 2020. Some Schengen countries will allow you to apply for temp residency, but there's generally a lot of red tape and jumping through hoops. That's not what we signed up for, so it's easier to just leave the Med, which is a shame because we will miss out on many of the places we planned to visit. That's an interesting idea about a series of videos on each countries red tape. We'll certainly have a good think about that idea. Thanks.

    Well orchestrated summary of a season afloat with good story telling. We are going to use this video for waypoints👍 And may even take a liberty by trying to do something along the same lines. It is only when you slow down that you realise how far you have come and what you have done in the last year! Cannot believe some muppet has given a thumbs down 😕We may have the same muppet. Maybe a grumpy taverna owner 🤣 Sail safe guys. We are heading your way let's have a beer or 6 when we catch up. Check out Carl and Jenny's next video for an update on our plans, they are near you we think? Maybe not. Ant, Cid & the Pooch crew.

      @@SailingABSea in 1980 symi was not a place you could check out of, that had to be done at Rhodes or Kos,. Great videos, check out dan and kikas latest video, sailing Uma , in Lanzarote, done on 2 smart phones.
      Its staggering the quality they got with what they had .
      Ps on one drunken night in 1980 i drifted off the low quay in to the harbour on the way back to the boat . Having boogied all night at the disco!!!!🤔🤔😎🤣😂

    A really good summary of 2019
    How is the damp issue you had going from the last episode?
    Looking forward to 2020 and your upcoming adventures
    Thanks 😊

    • @SailingABSea
      @SailingABSea  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Russtafa, we need to hire a car to go to a big town with a large hardware store to buy materials. The damp area has dried up but we're going to sand everything back and repair and repaint the whole area. We'll be inspecting the keel bolts too.

    Hi, Enjoyed your video. I'm looking for a boatyard to haul out. What was your experience like at the Evia Boatyard in Limni? Do they have good carpenters, mechanics etc?

    • @SailingABSea
      @SailingABSea  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, Limini yard is great for winter storage and is well protected from most of the weather. There are local trades people who can do the jobs and Xaris will contact them for you, they are not boat specialists.
      The logistics of getting parts delivered is a challenge and there is no local/affordable car hire.
      The cost to stay at the yard reflects its location.

    A very nice year review!! Congrats!! I do have a question, regarding you plans for 2020 would you like the boat to have an extra fuel tank?

    • @SailingABSea
      @SailingABSea  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mario, an extra or bigger fuel tank just means longer times between visiting a fuel dock. Crossing the Atlantic on a sail boat of our size using just the engine is not possible given the amount of miles involved. Luckily the trade winds blow fairly constantly so sailing all the way shouldn't be an issue. If the wind stops for a day or two, then we just drift with the current and wait for the winds to return. Cheers.
