That place holds many childhood memories for me. Our family spent many a weekend there when the lake was full. There were some fairly large trees and usually quite a few boats on the water fishing and skiing. Gradually as feedlots were built upstream, it became polluted and had to be drained. Quick tip. Get some plastic or woven bamboo paper plate holders. Toss a tortilla on it and use it for a plate, you can eat the plate or critters will. Whatever lessens your cleanup saves water (some places that's gold, you know somewhere like the Tx Panhandle.)
Pretty rough deal for the area. Reading through the history its hard to say what came first, the pollution, or the dam being condemmed. My opinion is that poor management of several factors ultimately killed the lake.
I am really enjoying this build man. It is turning out great! Just enough, not too much...and does everything you need it to. Fun to watch and follow along. 🤘
America's test Kitchen is the bessssst (nacho libre impression) . I've been watching that show on public television when they had Chris Kimbell before he went to Milk street. Yours looks so good I got to try that sometime. Great video as always man.
Get That corn outta my face! I had no idea the history of ATK with Chris Kimbell, Milk street mag looks awesome and will definitely be added to my reading list. Thanks for watching!
Totally loved this video, Jake! It looked like a fantastic place to explore and I'm definitely going to try the no bake lasagna the next time I go camping! We've already seen your design, fabricating, mechanical, and cooking skills, but who would have guessed you do the balance beam as well?! Looking forward to future adventures of you and Dale! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Jake I was reading up on that Buffalo Lake back in 81 they drained it cuz they afraid the damn that's going to break late 70s and early 80s there was so much rain it fill up to full
Hey Syd! A dutch oven takes up much more space. The #10 Wagner is about as big as I can go without the kitchen overflowing its compartment. A similar sized stainless sauté pan would probably be the most versatile, and less weight than the cast iron. I'll give the pasta swap a shot next time!
How can I get in touch outside of youtube? Also you should check out the blackstone tailgater. Has a flat grill on one side and a box grill on the other so you can cook just about anything you could think of. It takes up more room than your little camp stove but has its own stand and folds away when not in use.
People have a bunch of rules about their cast iron pans and treat them like they are fragile. This pan was inherited by my grandmother and she put it through hell and back for 50+ years before I got it. It's been said that you cant cook acidic foods in them, but its no problem in a well seasoned pan.
The empty shell is just over 300lbs. I weighed prior to my first trip and fully loaded (with much excess) its dead on 600lbs. Haven't reweighed with the electrical system in, and Will be installing the diesel heater this week too. V2 could be made lighter with 2 plies of fiberglass instead of 3, but really all the weight is in the contents.
@@ThatJakeWorldWide thank you. I was hoping to be under 500# fully equipped, but I wasn’t sure what the shell would end up weighing. That information from your build is great to have for planning. Im basically building a square drop trailer cab that will bolt down to the bed of a RHD ‘94 U42T Mitsubishi Minicab. Great job on this one, love it.
Nice outing. Thanks for taking us with you and Dale.
Our pleasure, thanks for watching!

Thanks Greg, Its really coming together!
The trip was quite interesting and fun
Thanks Hafiz! More adventures to come!

Looks like Dale had passed out in the background when you were eating your pasta, lol. Great video!
Lol if only! He was probably just patiently waiting for me to throw the ball. Thanks for watching!
Wow, Dale must have been really tired to sleep through the food 😊
His longest run to date, although he's not actually sleeping, just waiting patiently for me to throw the frisbee! Thanks for watching!
chill vid bro, happy trails and good food!.
G'day mate to yourself and Dale from an old college rep cross country runner in New Zealand.
Thanks for watching Gregor, NZ is a beautiful place, maybe someday I'll come for a few runs!

Crazy isn't it? Having run across the dam, I can see why. Also the watershed is big cattle feed yard country and leaches contaminants into the lake.
Hey Jake where's your cast iron Dutch oven works much better than the frying pan,and try a different pasta like fusilli or rigatoni

As a cyclist i can crank out the miles but as a runner i couldn't make it down the block. 👍✌
I like to tell cyclist on the trail that they are cheating, it's all in good fun, but I am jealous of the speed you guys travel. Thanks for watching!

@@ThatJakeWorldWide I’m on mobile, does that make a difference. I’m not seeing anything.
What no chemtrails crisscrossing that beautiful blue sky? Guess there aren't enough people out there in West Tejas to spray.
The aerial dispersion crew must have had this weekend off!
What's up with tomato in a cast iron??

Can you touch on the weight of your camper. I’m looking at building one for a smaller truck and I’m curious what you came out at for the shell.

Thank you for watching! Feel free to shoot me any questions you have, and send me some build pictures to my email when you get started!
