Victory qoutes: Looks like this commander just didn't have it the strength to finish the fight. In the end, Shepard lead the chief like a lamb to the slaughter. (Idk, I tried to make a Shepard pun, but I don't know enough about Mass Effect.) This commander just got a halo over his head. You could say this fight had a unintended MASSive EFFECT on the galaxy.
I think my favorite part about this track is that while it feels very upbeat and actiony, especially early on, some of the quieter parts feel a bit tragic. It feels like both heroes are going all out in fighting for the causes they believe in, knowing damn well only one of them is gonna walk away. That's something I feel like we don't see often enough in Vs. Tracks.

That’s actually… a really nice matchup. Power-scaling wise it’s definitely better than Doomslayer VS Masterchief for sure. In fact, I’m surprised I never considered it before as it’s such an obvious matchup. Either way, song’s really good and fits the atmosphere of both franchises really well. It has the energy, the epic and the intensity of both of them, that with the calm parts that everyone would expect too and of course a few bits from existing songs such as the Halo main theme among other ones. Truly a good song to start the year of with. Also, damn that 3:40 to 3:58 part is a great finale. Also-also, holy crap that cover art is magnificent.

Main point is that either way, that matchup can't be any more of a stomp that Doomslayer VS Master Chief is. Although I'd still love an official Death Battle remaster on it, they've done stomp matches that were good before so they could easily do it here (hell, this season's finale was a stomp match and it's some of the best fights and song they've done.)

@@jackryder1478 well for 1: connections wise its good 2 men who at young ages were tooken into a top secret experiment to be turned into super soldiers along with a groupe of others like them both were experimented on at yoing ages and augmented to be superior soldiers both while they were at that place formed a connection with a woman (cortana and marie) how ever were separated from them both are members of a squad of 4 others both are considered the quite members of this groupe. both have iconic super suits that change their looks and effectiveness both and both question at some points whether their more a tool than a normal human. 2. I feel it offers a unique dynamic with chiefs more versatile but less destructive arsenal bouncing off of allelujahs more destructive but less versatile arsenal. 3. Seems pretty close to my knowledge with chief having some win cons over allelujah while allelujah likely has AP. And 4. Ill admit i have a bais towards gundam 00 as it was my 1st anime ive ever watched and i have a stong bond with allelujah.

Awesome track! The reason i dont think this would happen though is that even if you gave Shep every ability he can possibly have, lore accurate chief walks through him/her/them. There is also the fact that even with abilities and enhancements, shep is still somewhat a normal human.... chief just isnt. Id love to see a rematch against the doomslayer though, since their last match both have a TON of new feats

I honestly think Chief wins this, but I like Shepard better, they simply have different skill sets, Shepard is an amazing Charismatic Leader with numerous skills beyond battle that all helped her/him defeat the reapers and achieve peace for the Galaxy, while Chief does have some of those skills he doesn’t have the Social skills that Shepard does, if they ever somehow teamed up I could see Chief joining Shepard’s crew under there command and Shepard actually getting the Spartan to open up. Basically Chief is a Rocket Launcher and Shepard is a futuristic Swiss army knife.
Agreed. I don’t know too much about Mass Effect’s world but from what I’ve seen they seem more advanced then the UNSC. Still Chief has, and is used to at this point, fighting species with advanced technology. Though if they teamed up fear them. Chief would be my favorite soldier on the Citadel!

@@linkfan6555 its true, in mass effect a soverign-class reaper dreadnaught (the single most powerful type of reaper/ship in the ME universe) main gun hits with a force of several hundred Kilotons... a pre-covenant war UNSC Frigate hits with 26 megatons. UNSC Infinities Main guns fires a 3,000,000 kg slug at 4% light speed and has 4 of these main guns. the SSV Kilamonjaro (most powerful human ship in ME) fires a 15kg slug from 1-1.2% light speed and has only one main gun. you don't need a calculator to know which ship hits harder

Unlike Chief, the nature of Shepard's character means that he doesn't appear in any of mass effect's transmedia such as books and comics and the games care more about Shepard as a character and don't tend to draw too much attention to his physical feats. This is largely why many don't consider him physically powerful, but he is. Strength There are a few Strength feats in-game. Towards the end of Mass Effect 2, Shepard gets trapped under a slab of metal that he lifts off of him. Looking at it's dimensions and applying the density of iron, woud mean that in this scene, Shepard managed to lift 2 metric tons. Note, that he also lifted this weight by standing up while lifting it above his head. Which would require a lot more strength to lift compared to a bench press or dead lift. Shepherd can wield the krogan version of the M300 Claymore heavy shotgun. A gun said to have enough recoil to break the wielder's arms. The force needed to break bone is debatable, but is generally considered to be around 4,000 Newtons. Shepard could fire it as if it were a regular shotgun without any noticeable muscle strain or pushback from the gun. Despite the fact that the Claymore has no stock or any brace against recoil. Indicating that 4k Newtons is Shepard's minimum punching force, however it's probably significantly higher. In ME2, we see a krogan lift and throw a slab of metal. Looking at it's volume and once again applying the density of iron and the increase in gravity (it was on a higher gravity world), we get a weight of 3 metric tonnes as the minimum lifting weight of a krogan. Additionally krogan are almost indestructible. The natural armour and organ redundancy of a krogan put a fully armoured spartan to shame when it comes to durability. Yet despite their incredible strength and durability, an unarmed and unarmoured Shepard can neutralize a fully armoured krogan in about 3 seconds with nothing but his bare hands. Indicating that Shepard vastly outclasses the power of a krogan. In a scene in ME3's Omega DLC, Shepard faces off against 2 fully armoured Cerberus supersoldiers and kills each one with a single punch. Yahg are the largest and most powerful species in mass effect, mountains of muscle over 2 meters tall, they dwarf even the krogan in power. In ME2's Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, Shepard faces off against a yahg in hand-to-hand combat and was shown to be able to punch so hard that the yahg actually staggers back and resorts to using a shield to fight against Shepard. Speed There's not really any real speed feats for Shepard, but what we do know is that Shepard can sprint for hours without getting tired and considering that he's far stronger than a krogan, while being only a fraction of the weight, Shepard can probably also outrun a krogan who have been described as being able to run so fast that they become a blurr. Durability At the end of ME3, Shepard recieves a direct hit from a cannon that just moments before was impacting with so much force that it was flipping tanks. The impact obliterated his armour while wounding him, then an entire city-sized space station blew up while he was still on board, he fell from orbit without any armor to protect him from atmospheric reentry, impacted the ground at terminal velocity, then had said space station fall on top and he was still alive. It would make sense that Shepard would be far more durable than Chief as the sole purpose of his augmentations are to keep him alive. Everything else is just a bonus. Weapons Shepherd's armour has 6 weapon hardpoints including a heavy-duty hardpoint for heavy weapons. Shepherd is proficient in all weapon types including ARs, SRs, shotguns, pistols an SMGs, all of which fire using micro-scale mass accelerator technology (ie: Infantry-sized macs). In addition to grenade launchers that fire in flat trajectories and portable missile launches that fire faster than your mental health can handle, other heavy weapons available to Shepard that he can carry include, flame throwers, freeze rays, lightning bolt cannons, particle cannons, black hole projectors and nuke cannons. All portable and easily carried on Shepard's back alongside his standard arsenal. Shepherd can generate any melee weapon he wants from his wrist. Generally omniblades which are diamond hard and scalding hot wrist blades, but he can also generate other weapons including shields. Armour Shepherd's armour consists of ablative ceramic plates capable of resistance even the immense heat of atmospheric reentry as well as kinetic shields to resist ballistic weapons. This includes plasma which has mass and would be deflected. This is confirmed by the fact that kinetic barriers hold up quite well against geth weapons, which are all plasma based. Due to the more sophisticated weapons technology of mass effect, kinetic barriers would be more resilient than energy shields, at least in regards to ballistics protection. Abilities For gameplay purposes, Shepard's abilities are neatly divided into 6 specialisation classes, each orientated to a different play style. However, as far as lore is concerned, Shepard could have any number of these abilities at the same time. They include equipment such as plasma coated ammo, cryo ammo, EMP ammo, the ability to launch plasma and cryo blasts, fire directed EMPs, fire concussive and explosive rounds, deploy combat drones, drop sentry turrets and activate an extra layer of shielding that detonated when breached as well as an invisibility cloak Biotics There are two types of biotics Shepard can be. L5x and L5n. An L5x biotic has conscious control over the mass of everything around them. Giving them telekinesis as well as the ability to create kinetic forcefields and singularities in the middle of the battlefield. L5n biotics have similar abilities to L5xs, however their ability are more oriented towards close quarters combat. With their signature biotic attack being a biotic charge, inwhich an L5n can can levitate and dash across the battlefield at around 40 to 50 km/h.
Great way to show Shepard's varied movesets, have Chief in the Armax Arena from the Citadel DLC fighting the horde of various classes of Shepard. This can also allow the animators to use both Shepards as well. Idk who'd win between any Sgepard and Chief. Chief is a major badass who'se survived a lot, Shepard has awesome powers to throw around. Tough call

You're really underestimating the Master Chief here. Chief survived falling off orbit and re entering the earth's atmosphere with Mjolnir. I don't think a few biotic attacks are gonna do much to him. It's also got an onboard computer (not Cortana) to help him with analysis and prevent cyberattacks so engineer Shepard is useless there. He's punched through ship metal and taken hits from anti tank missiles and shrugged them off like nothing. Heck he even survived a nuke detonation. There's so many feats from lore Master Chief that he makes Shepard look pale in comparison. The only Shepard who has any sort of chance against him is Vanguard Shepard and that still won't be enough. The only Shepard who can actually win against Chief is control ending Shepard.
They would go with Shepard’s canonical class not just pit Chief up against 6 hypothetical Shepard’s. It’s unlikely class differences would even affect the verdict since they’d still scale to the same characters/feats.

Im imagining this starts as a standard training exercise, and Chief, being a lil cocky on his own skill, starts trying harder as Shep keeps up, ending up with them going from doing the course and shooting targets, towards each other. Eventually, the battle ends from a fatal move as the winner is court-martial'd from the attempt on the other's life.

Shepard would be a royal pain in the ass to line a loadout for. you get so many choices in those games for what to give him/her that no matter what you pick someone is gonna feel left out. and giving them all of it would just make them overpowered as all fuck.
Shepard a basic human granted at peek physical strength and pretty smart leader VS a literal genetic super human soldier who can punch through titanium with ease and was literally indoctrinated from 8 years old in war. Yea don't think this is ever gonna happen cause it be a pretty damn short fight.
Shepherd is actually very durable, taking an attack that destroyed a Military APC, and, this one might be an outlier, possibly survived a fall from Orbit in the event where you destroy the Reapers and survive

This has to be a match I really want and yet don't want to happen, mainly because I love em both. though if I had to place my bets on one, I'd have to go with chief, shepard surviving a reaper beam and (potentially) having biotic powers is impressive and would give chief trouble, but in the end, chief would most likely blitz shepard and FINISH THE FIGHT.

Depends on the class most of the time. I've seen soldier Shep used more as that's the default for the character. Problem is that Shep as a soldier loses due to Chief's better physicals. Most of the biotic classes allow Shep to win though. Not sure on the rest but there you go.

I think my favorite part about this track is that while it feels very upbeat and actiony, especially early on, some of the quieter parts feel a bit tragic. It feels like both heroes are going all out in fighting for the causes they believe in, knowing damn well only one of them is gonna walk away. That's something I feel like we don't see often enough in Vs. Tracks.

That’s actually… a really nice matchup. Power-scaling wise it’s definitely better than Doomslayer VS Masterchief for sure.
In fact, I’m surprised I never considered it before as it’s such an obvious matchup.
Either way, song’s really good and fits the atmosphere of both franchises really well. It has the energy, the epic and the intensity of both of them, that with the calm parts that everyone would expect too and of course a few bits from existing songs such as the Halo main theme among other ones.
Truly a good song to start the year of with.

True, I'm not a big fan of either so aside from the basics I don't know exactly how they power scale.
Main point is that either way, that matchup can't be any more of a stomp that Doomslayer VS Master Chief is.
Although I'd still love an official Death Battle remaster on it, they've done stomp matches that were good before so they could easily do it here (hell, this season's finale was a stomp match and it's some of the best fights and song they've done.)

2 men who at young ages were tooken into a top secret experiment to be turned into super soldiers along with a groupe of others like them both were experimented on at yoing ages and augmented to be superior soldiers both while they were at that place formed a connection with a woman (cortana and marie) how ever were separated from them both are members of a squad of 4 others both are considered the quite members of this groupe. both have iconic super suits that change their looks and effectiveness both and both question at some points whether their more a tool than a normal human.
2. I feel it offers a unique dynamic with chiefs more versatile but less destructive arsenal bouncing off of allelujahs more destructive but less versatile arsenal.
3. Seems pretty close to my knowledge with chief having some win cons over allelujah while allelujah likely has AP.

Halo was the defining game of my teen years. Mass effect was the same for my early 20s (I played the trilogy a bit after the 3rd game came out)

The reason i dont think this would happen though is that even if you gave Shep every ability he can possibly have, lore accurate chief walks through him/her/them. There is also the fact that even with abilities and enhancements, shep is still somewhat a normal human.... chief just isnt.

I honestly think Chief wins this, but I like Shepard better, they simply have different skill sets, Shepard is an amazing Charismatic Leader with numerous skills beyond battle that all helped her/him defeat the reapers and achieve peace for the Galaxy, while Chief does have some of those skills he doesn’t have the Social skills that Shepard does, if they ever somehow teamed up I could see Chief joining Shepard’s crew under there command and Shepard actually getting the Spartan to open up. Basically Chief is a Rocket Launcher and Shepard is a futuristic Swiss army knife.
Agreed. I don’t know too much about Mass Effect’s world but from what I’ve seen they seem more advanced then the UNSC. Still Chief has, and is used to at this point, fighting species with advanced technology. Though if they teamed up fear them.

@@linkfan6555 its true, in mass effect a soverign-class reaper dreadnaught (the single most powerful type of reaper/ship in the ME universe) main gun hits with a force of several hundred Kilotons... a pre-covenant war UNSC Frigate hits with 26 megatons.
UNSC Infinities Main guns fires a 3,000,000 kg slug at 4% light speed and has 4 of these main guns. the SSV Kilamonjaro (most powerful human ship in ME) fires a 15kg slug from 1-1.2% light speed and has only one main gun.

Sick Art and Track
God the Nostalgia hits hard with the beginning part.
Unlike Chief, the nature of Shepard's character means that he doesn't appear in any of mass effect's transmedia such as books and comics and the games care more about Shepard as a character and don't tend to draw too much attention to his physical feats. This is largely why many don't consider him physically powerful, but he is.
Strength
There are a few Strength feats in-game.
Towards the end of Mass Effect 2, Shepard gets trapped under a slab of metal that he lifts off of him. Looking at it's dimensions and applying the density of iron, woud mean that in this scene, Shepard managed to lift 2 metric tons. Note, that he also lifted this weight by standing up while lifting it above his head. Which would require a lot more strength to lift compared to a bench press or dead lift.
Shepherd can wield the krogan version of the M300 Claymore heavy shotgun. A gun said to have enough recoil to break the wielder's arms. The force needed to break bone is debatable, but is generally considered to be around 4,000 Newtons. Shepard could fire it as if it were a regular shotgun without any noticeable muscle strain or pushback from the gun. Despite the fact that the Claymore has no stock or any brace against recoil. Indicating that 4k Newtons is Shepard's minimum punching force, however it's probably significantly higher.
In ME2, we see a krogan lift and throw a slab of metal. Looking at it's volume and once again applying the density of iron and the increase in gravity (it was on a higher gravity world), we get a weight of 3 metric tonnes as the minimum lifting weight of a krogan. Additionally krogan are almost indestructible. The natural armour and organ redundancy of a krogan put a fully armoured spartan to shame when it comes to durability. Yet despite their incredible strength and durability, an unarmed and unarmoured Shepard can neutralize a fully armoured krogan in about 3 seconds with nothing but his bare hands. Indicating that Shepard vastly outclasses the power of a krogan.
In a scene in ME3's Omega DLC, Shepard faces off against 2 fully armoured Cerberus supersoldiers and kills each one with a single punch.
Yahg are the largest and most powerful species in mass effect, mountains of muscle over 2 meters tall, they dwarf even the krogan in power. In ME2's Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, Shepard faces off against a yahg in hand-to-hand combat and was shown to be able to punch so hard that the yahg actually staggers back and resorts to using a shield to fight against Shepard.
Speed
There's not really any real speed feats for Shepard, but what we do know is that Shepard can sprint for hours without getting tired and considering that he's far stronger than a krogan, while being only a fraction of the weight, Shepard can probably also outrun a krogan who have been described as being able to run so fast that they become a blurr.
Durability
At the end of ME3, Shepard recieves a direct hit from a cannon that just moments before was impacting with so much force that it was flipping tanks. The impact obliterated his armour while wounding him, then an entire city-sized space station blew up while he was still on board, he fell from orbit without any armor to protect him from atmospheric reentry, impacted the ground at terminal velocity, then had said space station fall on top and he was still alive.
It would make sense that Shepard would be far more durable than Chief as the sole purpose of his augmentations are to keep him alive. Everything else is just a bonus.
Weapons
Shepherd's armour has 6 weapon hardpoints including a heavy-duty hardpoint for heavy weapons.
Shepherd is proficient in all weapon types including ARs, SRs, shotguns, pistols an SMGs, all of which fire using micro-scale mass accelerator technology (ie: Infantry-sized macs).
In addition to grenade launchers that fire in flat trajectories and portable missile launches that fire faster than your mental health can handle, other heavy weapons available to Shepard that he can carry include, flame throwers, freeze rays, lightning bolt cannons, particle cannons, black hole projectors and nuke cannons. All portable and easily carried on Shepard's back alongside his standard arsenal.
Shepherd can generate any melee weapon he wants from his wrist. Generally omniblades which are diamond hard and scalding hot wrist blades, but he can also generate other weapons including shields.
Armour
Shepherd's armour consists of ablative ceramic plates capable of resistance even the immense heat of atmospheric reentry as well as kinetic shields to resist ballistic weapons. This includes plasma which has mass and would be deflected. This is confirmed by the fact that kinetic barriers hold up quite well against geth weapons, which are all plasma based. Due to the more sophisticated weapons technology of mass effect, kinetic barriers would be more resilient than energy shields, at least in regards to ballistics protection.
Abilities
For gameplay purposes, Shepard's abilities are neatly divided into 6 specialisation classes, each orientated to a different play style. However, as far as lore is concerned, Shepard could have any number of these abilities at the same time.
They include equipment such as plasma coated ammo, cryo ammo, EMP ammo, the ability to launch plasma and cryo blasts, fire directed EMPs, fire concussive and explosive rounds, deploy combat drones, drop sentry turrets and activate an extra layer of shielding that detonated when breached as well as an invisibility cloak
Biotics
There are two types of biotics Shepard can be. L5x and L5n. An L5x biotic has conscious control over the mass of everything around them. Giving them telekinesis as well as the ability to create kinetic forcefields and singularities in the middle of the battlefield.
L5n biotics have similar abilities to L5xs, however their ability are more oriented towards close quarters combat. With their signature biotic attack being a biotic charge, inwhich an L5n can can levitate and dash across the battlefield at around 40 to 50 km/h.
Another strength feat was being able to backhand Kai Leng's sword and cause violent fracture

Great way to show Shepard's varied movesets, have Chief in the Armax Arena from the Citadel DLC fighting the horde of various classes of Shepard. This can also allow the animators to use both Shepards as well.
Idk who'd win between any Sgepard and Chief. Chief is a major badass who'se survived a lot, Shepard has awesome powers to throw around. Tough call

You're really underestimating the Master Chief here.
Chief survived falling off orbit and re entering the earth's atmosphere with Mjolnir. I don't think a few biotic attacks are gonna do much to him.
It's also got an onboard computer (not Cortana) to help him with analysis and prevent cyberattacks so engineer Shepard is useless there.
He's punched through ship metal and taken hits from anti tank missiles and shrugged them off like nothing. Heck he even survived a nuke detonation.
There's so many feats from lore Master Chief that he makes Shepard look pale in comparison. The only Shepard who has any sort of chance against him is Vanguard Shepard and that still won't be enough. The only Shepard who can actually win against Chief is control ending Shepard.
They would go with Shepard’s canonical class not just pit Chief up against 6 hypothetical Shepard’s. It’s unlikely class differences would even affect the verdict since they’d still scale to the same characters/feats.

Im imagining this starts as a standard training exercise, and Chief, being a lil cocky on his own skill, starts trying harder as Shep keeps up, ending up with them going from doing the course and shooting targets, towards each other. Eventually, the battle ends from a fatal move as the winner is court-martial'd from the attempt on the other's life.

Shepard would be a royal pain in the ass to line a loadout for. you get so many choices in those games for what to give him/her that no matter what you pick someone is gonna feel left out. and giving them all of it would just make them overpowered as all fuck.

Shepard a basic human granted at peek physical strength and pretty smart leader VS a literal genetic super human soldier who can punch through titanium with ease and was literally indoctrinated from 8 years old in war. Yea don't think this is ever gonna happen cause it be a pretty damn short fight.
Shepherd is actually very durable, taking an attack that destroyed a Military APC, and, this one might be an outlier, possibly survived a fall from Orbit in the event where you destroy the Reapers and survive
Plus, I believe it was stated Guns in Mass Effect fire at near Light Speeds

Depends on the class most of the time. I've seen soldier Shep used more as that's the default for the character. Problem is that Shep as a soldier loses due to Chief's better physicals. Most of the biotic classes allow Shep to win though. Not sure on the rest but there you go.
