I opted for the cheaper one! Works just fine especially if you are trying to get in a routine. Once I stay with this routine at least 4 months straight then maybe it will be worth spending more but this is perfect!

I picked up the XL a month or 2 back. We use it for our warmup before hitting the total gym. I think your review of the standard model is spot on! We bought the XL mainly due to the foot pads and a few other features.

Thanks for the review! I watched a few videos on this before I decided to purchase. I just got it the other day. My little digital monitor doesn't work either. Hopefully it's just the battery. So far it is a good workout, compact style for easy storage and a good price. If it holds up for a few years would be great.

Hi Mike. My girlfriend and I, had one of these for over 5 years. We got it as an alternative to going to the gym for cardio. But over the years and with COVID, it became my to go machine for a 30 min workout three times a week. We use the videos on line to challenge us. It has been a great basic machine. I did have issues with the pedals comfort but I wear shoes that give me that cushion. The residue from the wheels will happen and you'll have to replace them ( a pretty simple task). I have been ordering them directly from the company at no charge after getting a $30.00 "membership". Using Silicone spray with a paper towel before or after working out helps reduce the wear and tear.
We have moved several times during the last 4 years and it was easy transporting it after I removed the handle bars and wrapping the whole thing.
I will purchase the XL eventually , but I'm glad we started with this model, to find out if it would work.
I'm 65 and I have no issues with my knees aching. Strange enought, I had shoulder joint problems and using it seems to help me. Thanks for the review.

I have the XL 2000 which was about $350. I actually bought another one for my cottage workout room that’s how much I love it. The XL is super steady and has pistons that can be adjusted to make it easier or harder. Also, the pedals are huge and very supportive. The XL can be used for 30 minutes and isn’t uncomfortable at all. The price I paid for mine was well worth it. The downside for you would be it doesn’t fold up, but for me that’s not an issue.

Thank you for your video & your info on this machine..I bought the maxi XL from the company & it made horrible scratching noises .We called their very rude customer service rep several times & they told us to send them a video of the noise & we did so many times & they basically told us to pull the machine apart ourselves & fix it just after a few weeks of buying it..I then realized that they had many complaints of the same issues online..They also refused to send us a new one & rudely laughed at us on the phone as we didn't know how to fix it..We bought the machine as a family member just lost both her parents & we thought this would get her back on her feet..So people pls be careful of what you buy.. Look for any complaints about the company first & research hard before buying..We were treated very badly by them..Pls don't make this happen to you.

Hello Mike, I own one of these and agree it's a great machine although I don't use it as much as I should. But I have a solution to one of your cons about the moving handgrips being too close together. I found the stationary grips to be absolutely useless and knee bangers. So I removed them and added them on to the moving grips. If you're mechanical and have a power drill, you just need to slide the rubber grips off the moving grips and drill a small hole in them so that the button locks on the stationary grips will secure themselves into place. They will slide easily into the moving grips. I think it may be a 3/8 drill bit but eyeball it to doublecheck. You just slide the foam grip back on to the sliding grips, then slide the stationary grip right inside them. It adds alot more bar to hold onto for a more comfortable hand and arm position. It definitely makes using this machine have a less awkward feel. Hope this helps and feel free to share this idea with your subscribers.

Are you able to keep your knees inline with your feet? It looked a bit like as you rise up the frame widens and you point your knees out slightly. I'm shorter than you and need to keep my knees inline when exercising like this to prevent the strain you said some other people had mentioned. I'm thinking of buying, but no point if it's going to force my knees out.

I like it, but the plastic rollers are cheap and wear down after a few months. I'm 185, the rollers wore from doing fast and intense workouts. I had to contact the manufacturer and did receive replacements as part of the warranty. I will lubricate it with silicon spray. I mean it's functional, nothing fancy. It's a good affordable machine. I've used some ankle and wrist weights for some resistance. Also I have velcro straps to lock in my feet. I bought mine new from Ebay, the warranty did cover the parts.

I admit to not making it all the way through this video, but that's because I am looking for some very specific information that I am not finding here. I see there is a height adjustment possible, but the instruction manual says nothing more than to push a button. Not which button for what height. And, it says nothing about if adjusting the height will help with the foot pedal situation. Because, whenever one of us steps on it, the other pedal goes up so far that our knee ends up being way above the handle we are to be holding onto while mounting. There must be a way to fix that!

Interesting product and good review. Since you were saying it felt good for a pretty short workout, it sounded to me like its best use would be as a warmup machine. I saw that another commenter used it in just that way. Your suggestion to use it to complement a high intensity workout sounds like another good use. That problem with the bottom roller running against the machine is troubling. If you contact the company, please let us know how they respond. Such responses influence my purchase decisions.

Correct. The climb pattern here is "standard" pattern like climbing a ladder. VersaClimber offers "contra-lateral" or "cross crawl" which replicates humans natural movement pattern GAIT (walking, crawling, running) as babies we learn this at 8 months old.

As I was mentioning in this review, I really only use it as an interval tool to mix things up a bit during workouts versus a long duration cardio machine. So I do use it, but when I do, it's only for about 5-10 min max per workout.

If someone is having knee pain on that machine, what would you do to strengthen the knee joint? I went to a doctor once and told him about my knee pain and he thought I should stay away from squats and focus on extensions, but he qualified that with "I don't know, I don't work out, I'm just going by the anatomy"

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I'd recommend asking a rehabilitation specialist that way they can give personalize medical advice. But my own opinions: it somewhat depends on the type, nature, and history of the knee pain / discomfort on the machine. But it could be a number of factors. If it's more just discomfort for a brief period of time on the machine, then simply warming up, changing your positions, or doing intervals to break time would help. You certainly can make the integrity of the joint stronger by directly stressing the area, but also just strengthening the muscles around the joint through traditional leg exercises can be good. But sometimes just because you're working the muscles around the joint doesn't necessarily mean the knee is actually stronger. I actually could say a lot more but there's just a lot of nuance that it makes it hard to directly answer that question. Also just balancing out the stress you're placing on the lower body is something always to be considered. Running might be good for knees, but too much and too often could actually cause/create knee pain. Personally, I'd just start slow, don't overdue it, avoid pain, and simply listen to my body.

Those pedals are WAY too close. Your feet/knees/hips are forced into a completely unhealthy pathway. That's the only reason this piece of garbage feels difficult at all, and as you state you don't want to say on for long periods of time. Its because you are perceiving an intense "workout", simply due to poor ergonomics,.....ergonomics that will eventually lead to tons of issues. I would bet that most people, long term, even develop neck issues. And the size of those pedals are a nightmare.........Anyone using those pedals for a long period of time WILL develop arch/foot issues. No way around it.
