In the essential graphics, you can add background to the subtitles and curve the edges which may look like that you're looking for, let me know if it helped
Shorts are great for channel discovery. But long format gives the actual value additon for those interetsed in deep knowledge. Ideally, a channel should have a good mix of both. I personally am waiting for more of your long format videos.
@@mathnik5 shorts users are usually not interested in long for content as they have high retention so when a creator post a long video they don't watch it. Check any big short creators with 1-2 million Subscribers, their long form videos don't get any views as they should. Its best to create two channels 1 for shorts and one for long form videos. You can derive the views from shorts to long form videos later on.

Hover over the "windows" tab at the top of the screen, then from the opened list of windows, make sure "essential graphics" is checked. hope it helps
