Arne Slot held a press conference on Thursday evening to preview Liverpool's upcoming trip to West Ham United.
And Reds reporter David Lynch was there to see what the Dutchman had to say ahead of yet another festive fixture.
Slot provided updates on the fitness of Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley, and revealed how close Diogo Jota is to starting.
He also spoke about his plans for Dominik Szoboszlai being foiled on Boxing Day and how contract talks with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are progressing.

I’m excited to hear about Konate. We need him and Conor back atleast before our away game against Nottingham Forest in Jan
Even without them LFC will win!
That LFC lost their home game against NF is a miracle!
But they will be back! 💪😎
Absolutely mate the only game i m worried abt is forrest its just that everything is falling for them so hopefully konate is back ny then
@@clementifeanyi7155 konate hopefully starts v united
Wasn't Konate in the team that lost to Forest earlier in the season. There is so much disrespect for Joe amongst some of our fans.
@@663lotty Joe has done well. Maybe Gomez left back n konate centre back and if not Gomez be grand at CB.
we normally top the fair play league & suddenly we have a bunch of players on the 5 booking tightrope. that szobo one reminded me of the early booking for macallister at newcastle which led to their first goal (because he couldnt foul bruno having been booked for nothing). PGMOL using wrongly awarded yellows to put us on thin ice
I think players are going down far too easy in the last couple of seasons. It's always been there, but it seems to have gotten far worse recently, and refs are issuing yellows as a result. If it carries on, I can see influential clubs starting to ask for an appeals system for bookings, tbh.
@@RichieBedfellowsIt’s these dumb refs falling for dives, Leicester were playacting throughout the game
I agree: th-cam.com/video/Wuv1XjXmBtY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LHIgVcOCsKrsLEwP
We are making more strategic fouls. This is true. This wins you titles.
You will get the bad decisions in between. I don't care about fair play. Let's win titles.
The best compliment you can give to this Liverpool squad is, when big players are out, we are not really missing them. When Allison was out, Kellegher stepped in seamlessly, When Trent was injured, Connor came in. When Konate was injured, we thought we would miss him a lot, but Gomez has stepped up and now probably close to playing the best form of his career again. And then when Jota was out, Gakpo has been playing great and same with Diaz.
Meanwhile, for City, they had Rodri out and their whole team went downhill and a similar thing when Odegard was injured for Arsenal, they struggled a lot.
Elliott is a massive boost having him back, should use Endo more often to give Ryan G a rest
leicester at home was the best time to give graven rest but he started both graven and macca
@@maverich767 Slot has got to learn to rest n rotate or he'll burn players out like Klopp did when started at a hundred miles per hour
We gta play endo grav and macca against West Ham . Gravenberch gta play most games until new no6
Very good video David thank you and happy new year to you and the family
Thanks Anthony and all the best to you too.
Thanks David, top man 😊
Thank you!
Petsonally Dom's yellow was never a booking
Best he serves West Ham, and is available for the Manu game. even though it was a soft yellow!
Yep, very harsh.
we're copping a lot of soft yellows at the moment - Mac's has a few that were really soft, and so was Gomez's against Fulham. We need to start giving more mins in 2nd half to Elliott and Endo as they are gonna been needed soon as starters, so they need to be match-sharp.
love it david! hoping ibou and Bradley makes it for united but don't want to rush them
I’ve loved Robbo ever since he arrived from Hull. But as they say every dog has his day and sadly Robbo’s day is fast fading this season. I’d personally offload Tsimikas and keep Robbo as backup, plus all that he brings to the squad off the field.
LFC so close to winning things this season. Left back upgrade buy in January might be the difference.
Why keep the worst of the pair tsimy has proved a able player whose prime years are ahead and Robbo is not good enough now and getting worse
Think that could well be what we see happen this summer.
@@stevewebster6309 more for his influence in the changing room tbh. But personally I also think he’s still better than tsimi .
Strongly agree re need for new LB. Neither Kostas or Robbo are of the required quality or reliability - especially defending (Robbo has cost us a goal nearly every game this month). I would be wary of selling him now because he is such a central figure in the dressing room, that losing him now might be unsettling, but def he has to be replaced in the summer. The other problem is the amount of times we are missing one or the other - or even both Kosta and Robbo. A quick fix may be simply to add cover there by recalling Beck from his loan, and we at least have more cover and competition for that spot. Then get longer term upgrade in the summer.
Thank you for your magnificent work!!! Greetings from Poland 🍀🍀🍀
Dziękuję!
Always solid updates from you David..thank you👍🏼
Thanks Lola!
Thank you another upload. Happy festivities David Lynch.
Thanks mate, all the best to you!
@@davidlynchlfc welcome, much appreciated
Konate being back will be massive, but testament to Joe Gomez that we are in the same league position as when he got injured. I can’t help feeling though that the recent leakiness would have been far less of a factor with Ibou in the team
Bradley though…. This will be controversial but at his best I think we look better with him at right back than Trent. Which is handy if Trent is on his was to Madrid. We just need to keep Connor fit
Just delete that second part
@ haha I said it would be controversial. Sorry mate, I just say it as I see it
Great news!
I know it's a predictable thing to say but I DID think the ref yesterday was a little 'liberal' with the handing out of cards, especially given the obvious 'wilful horizontalism' of leicester! So, shame about Sobbo as a result.
Ah well, I suppose we'll just have to put an end to west ham's unbeaten run to make sure Dom doesn't feel left out eh?
I haven't yet watched the presser, so thanks for the update(s) Master Lynch!
👍👍👍
Thank you for the update
Cheers David. Would be great to have Ibou back for man U. Need a fit Jota for the West Ham game, his directness will be vital. Keep up the good work and enjoy your Christmas 💪
Thanks mate!
Glad we kept Gomez with Konates injury record. West Ham could be tricky, first goal is vital.
Big up to Gomez , great job the lad is doing !
Thanks for the uodate! Hopefully a chance to put some pressure on Chelsea, I am going for 2-0.... yes a clean sheet!!. all the best for 2025 David
All the best!
Happy holidays, David!! 🕎🎄
And to you!!
Thank you David for the update.
Thanks for watching Mohamed!
Keep up the excellent reporting David, thanks as always.
Thanks mate!
David anyone comment on reports Arne son was allegedly involved in an accident and ended up in hospital back in Holland? And understandably so if reports are true, if he is returning home to see/care for his son ?
Sounds like a nonsense, to me tbh. Obviously, can't be sure, but the thing I heard was one of those jarg automated reports saying LFC had issued a statement, but there's been no such statement issued as far as I can see.🤷
@ yeah I got my mrs to google it she said that reports suggest the lad was involved in an accident and taken to hospital. But no other information 🤷🏻♂️
@Castalla-Eddie Yeah, and I'm always highly suspicious when R2-D2 is the one telling the tale.
I really do hope Salah and van dijk sign the contract extension David all this speculation is pissing us fans off whether they will or won't I hope it won't derail the season if this keeps festering
Great mate good news and great channel…
Thanks Paul!
With big pitch would you think maybe the front three will be Diaz, Gakpo and Salah if Jota isn't fully fit? And Jones as 10? Eliott also not the one covering most ground?
GOOD AFTERNOON GREETINGS FROM THE HEATHROW AIRPORT AREA OF WEST LONDON DAVID ✌🏽
I think we’ve gotta start calling him “ slick slot “ how impressive has he been!
Id rather dom misses westham now than one of the games later. Konate coming back is massive, with trent talking to other clubs in a few days bradley might be needed if his head gets turned
Thanks, D!
The Gomez yellow card was soft as well, almost a non-contact sport now. The ref bought a few fouls, but at least was consistent. However suspensions don't really matter much now anyway as its such a squad game, I would rather see the sin bin system introduced to serve as a more effective punishment and stop professional fouls for being committed so often.
Hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas 🎄. Best wishes for 2025, hopefully a good year for Liverpool too. West Ham won't be an easy game, but fingers x'd we get a win.
Really appreciate that, thank you! All the best to you.
David, you referred to our lead as 'humungous', but fact is we have previously blown bigger leads. In 2018-19 we had a 10 point lead at the turn of the year but still lost it by a point to City. Of course, we have also lost out on other titles from leading on NYD. In 2020-21 we had a 4 point lead at the turn of the year, and were flying, but then had injuries (par to our CBs of course) and the wheels fell off - we fell as far as 8th, before recovering to clinch 4th spot on the final day. If we go further back, in '96 we were 5 pts clear in Jan but ended up 4th, and in 2013 we were 4 pts clear on NYD but ended up 2nd to Utd.
I'm not putting these reminders out there to be awkward, and obviously don't enjoy thinking about them again. But, they are rock solid reminders that we have a long way to go, and things outside of our control - par injuries to key players, could still easily derail us. So we have to make sure we get as many points in the bag as we can whilst we have both form and fitness. So, Slot is 100% correct to keep saying 'game by game ...'
To be fair that was only 10 points with a game in hand, so it was only seven in reality. It’s now nine to Arsenal (when games are level), so the biggest lead, and they are not peak Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. They also now have to cope without Saka for two months, which makes it hard to eat into a lead. It’s not done yet, but if Liverpool don’t win it from him they have well and truly thrown it away I’d say.
@ yeah fair points David. But i don’t think bottling it is the real risk (I don’t think we bottled it in 2019 (City were just exceptional and we would have won it with our 97 points in any other year), or 2021 (we were just smashed by injuries, and through them the fatigue of not being able to rest players)). Our biggest risk is injuries to key players where we don’t have cover (VVD, Gravernberch and Salah), or aninjury pile up in a key area of the field like in 2021.
Good that konate would be back we don't need him against Utd but certainly against forrest for sure
sure the ref last night was a joke
Will Fede Chiesa get a cameo against West Ham?
I’d say only if the scoreline is comfortable!
❤😂I love this keep going bro, I appreciate. Thanks a lot
Thanks mate.
Virg..Our finest ever centre back!!!.
Thanks David, hope you’re having a great holiday. Up the Reds 💪🏼♥️
All the best, Mary!
now is the time to place robbo on the bench he has costed us too many goals this season, gomez can play as a left back
hi David 👋, I don't know which team has surprised me more (so far) this season .. Liverpool or Man City... cheers 🍻
great time time to be a top notch Liverpool journo.
virgils future statue will never be tall enough
Maybe nunez aint scoring could slott not use him the role sabozlie has left open as you said he is high energy player and physical and can play decent balls through
Mr Lynch, thank you for your great work.!
Vinegar removes fog, mate. I know it sounds weird, but as you might know it also removes the smell of cigarettes. 🤝 They can have open buckets containing half a litre vinegar each on the pitch one hour before the match and it’ll be all cleared up. 💪 And if the club wants to thank my later they are welcome to invite me to Anfield anytime 😂 Wish you the best for 2025, may we end the season with some major trophies 🙏 YNWA
David I'm not expecting you to reply to this ...but guessing your surely thinking it ....fernandes Red yesterday was actually softer tackle than either Fulham challenges on us last week ...does Pgmol and their use of VAR worry you more than opposition teams in trying to win the league
I’m just very much of the view that sometimes they go for you and sometimes they don’t. Outside of the Diaz VAR shambles at Spurs, of course, which needed to be investigated and accounted for.
@davidlynchlfc nobody ever gets held accountable though in reality...between yhe Spurs fiasco then The odeguard basketball playing and then Doku audition for Karate kid ..it's cost Jurgen a title imo....have you not started to question it at all...fan yes...journalist no comment lol
Nothing is complete without the Nunez slander!
Hi David, LFC need CB first and then DM/CM and then LB ... and the summer of course ST and RB because nunez and TAA going to leave.
Two red cards this season how is bruno fernandes not suspended for lpool match. Sobo a big miss and west have paquetta back. Could be a tricky one. Maybe 1-2
Because the first was rescinded mate so this latest red card only counts as his first.
@davidlynchlfc cheers thank you
VVD future managerial material?
There were soft freekicks and YC´s in the Liverpool vs Leicester game all in all.
For all liverpool fans who are thinking about westham run of form of 4 games unbeaten and is concern...think about what westham fans are thinking..facing a liverpool side going 23 games unbeaten..if liverpool fans analyze player for player.. no team including arsernal has more weapons than liverpool so liverpool fans should just relax and know that this year the title is ours...champion league is not so clear cut not because liverpool is not the best team in Europe but simple fact that we can have an off day while the opponent have their best day..
Y would they play him before the 19 game half way amnesty for yellows ...
Was wondering how many games the amnesty was. Thanks
It was a seriously soft one to be fair!
@@davidlynchlfc yeah, ideally would have preferred him not to get it at all, but better miss West ham and than united.
@davidlynchlfc over the years there's a lot of times players have been told by managers to go and get a yellow to get it out of the way ...not saying he was. But it does happen
Rather have dom for man u then have a chance of him getting a yellow vs west ham and missing the game.
Konate is good becauze gomez can go at lb instead of robbo who is shocking
Very interesting statements from Jones after the game. He revealed Klopp congratulated him on his 100th PL game and he praised him for basically building this team and continued to say that Slot just had to carry on what Klopp built. That is pretty blunt for the usual diplomatic answers or maybe I am reading too much into it. It tells me how those professionals look at it: this is still Klopp‘s team and Slot just got happy to ride the well maintained car. It means Slot is not seen by the players as the new guy who put Liverpool on another level but as the guy who did what every half-decent coach could do: overtaking a top notch team. It means we are too fast to praise Slot as the next Paisley or Klopp. Maybe Arne is just reaping the fruits of the tree that someone else planted and cared for?
Klopp quit LFC because of these factors as listed from the most severe to the least severe: Money City , PGMOL, David Coyote and the rotten referee system.
@@ostihpem paisley never recognised as the genius he obviously was by football world ...all went to the creator Shanks ...personally Bob was magnificent in what he did but his legacy will always be down from Shanks ...clearly different followers nowadays who are quick to forget Jurgen
Yes you’re reading way too much into it. He simply said Jurgen built the team, Arne is taking it forwards. Which is the truth and entirely uncontroversial
How does Arne feel knowing Jurgen is still regularly in touch with the players? From what we’ve seen of him I imagine he’s pretty chilled about it
Go away and think smart before writing a nonsensical novel. This is Arne Slot's team and he's setting a record of his own. Klopp was our manager and is now a legend in the club. Arne Slot is allowed to do so, too ....
I think Curtis is only trying to balance it out. Obviously Slot has been brilliant coming in and, in addition to the players praising him for his detailed focus and tactical acumen, we can all see his mid-game tweaks and tactical adjustments during a game. Now that Slot very deservedly is coming out of Jurgen's shadow, we should not allow the shadow to be cast the other way. Jurgen is a legend of the club, and we all know what he's done. He build an incredible foundation, and Slot is now building it even further. They are different, but both are brilliant coaches. There is room for both of them in the sun, and I believe Curtis is reminding us of that.
Start Elliot
Def need him back. Gomez is dire - constantly goes AWOL in defence.
Priority for the summer has to be CB, LM, DM, Striker.
You'd wanna ease back on whatever your smoking ....Gomes has been outstanding in back 4 since he came in....Virg and Robbo at fault for goal but you somehow come up with that
did you watch the game lol?
konate is the weak link, how an earth does he get away with grabbing players and shirts all the time
@@rickster5120gomez has been shockingly bad, had 1-2 good games so far
@SamLewis-ey1cx yeah sure u must be right ...I'd say he was definitely at fault for the fog too
Please tell me we don't have that mancunian Anthony Taylor refereeing Liverpool match with west ham. He despises us. Last year denied gapko a goal versus west Ham by blowing his whistle as gapko was about to put in an empty net. Worse still Darren England on var. Refs and var seem to have an agenda against Liverpool. Our opponents get frees much easier. Taylor n England are a scary combination. We need to perform as we will get No favours here Sunday.
