- Hey guys, please watch the first part of this video if you haven't already which is explaining the first half of the process to get the tune on the car, this is the second part where we flash the tune. I am jumping to the present with this one to let everyone know about what is available for the car! I will go back and edit all the videos of the process that got me to this point don't worry lol. This will work for SE and XSE hatches 2019+ with the M20A-FKS 2.0 engine as well as the SE and XSE sedans 2020+ with the M20A 2.0 engine.

I live in California and I want to tune my car but I’m worried about passing smog if I get a tune. I know you mentioned you can set the cars tune back to original. Would that make you pass smog? Or would I still fail. I know people mention “smog plugs” but I’m brand new to the car world and don’t know anyone or anyone who can help me in that aspect.

To be completely honest, I have no clue how the smog testing works. When you flash back to stock you should be fine as long as you don’t have anything that would trigger a cel or something else that the tests discover.
Tunes weren't a fail on smog up until a couple months ago. Now any software changes to the vehicles computer will fail unless you have a CARB EO number provided by your tuner. I just reflash the vehicles computer back to stock then make sure monitors are ready and no codes show up and you're good.
I love my 09 corolla but that dash and them steering controls is what I really want.
I came from a 98 (which I still have) and it’s definitely nice to have all the advanced tech these cars come with lol

I'm currently waiting for my 2022 corolla hatchback (se) to be shipped to the dealer. (it's in transit)
It'll be a cvt, due to a paralyzed right arm. I ordered tires/wheels and coilovers for it today. Tmrw or Monday, a Toyota optional roof wing and also a front bumper lip spoiler (whatever they're called) will be ordered. Then soon an exhaust (probably a Remark) and an intake. The AMT ecu tune is a very important mod after that.
I'm a corner carver, so swaybars and a strut brace, upgraded rotors, brake pads and stainless steel braided lines are a must too...
Geesh, I'm spending too much money... lol
No shame I’m spending money to do what you love! Enjoy the cvt, my girlfriend has one and it’s a blast to drive. Also, suspension mods go a long way on these cars!
I got my car back on the 17th. Already installed my coilovers, tires/wheels, roof wing, and a front lip will be installed this wknd.
Next up, Remark center exit exhaust and an AEM intake, then the handling/braking upgrades...

pretty quick, more of a hot hatch. How do you say it compares to other hatch's? Also, how's the driving experience of the car?
It's much quicker than stock. I'd say now it may be even with some of the hot hatches stock, depending which one lol but at the end of the day it's still a n/a 2 liter there's only so much that can be done with just bolt ons. Driving experience stock was good but after the tune it's 20 times better and more enjoyable!

Ok just saw your video and 🔥🔥 sheeeshhh, I got a question and would like your help, I have a 2014 Corolla S and I have a resonator and secondary cat deleted with a borla exhaust, the sounding is still not what I’m looking for and want it much more louder with pops and bangs, you think doing the performance tune stage 1 or stage 2 would be beneficial or it doesn’t matter? Much appreciated thanks :)

I believe the next option would be try and look for a header for that year car. It'll definitely wake it up and make it louder possibly helping with the exhaust tone you're looking for and some natural burbles and pops, but to get crazy pops and bangs, you'll definitely need a tune.

Stage 1 just needs a k&n drop in, stage 2 will need a legit intake and cat back exhaust, stage 2+ add on the headers 💪🏼

Hey bro so I just purchased from Amt for my 2019 Camry. I’m wondering how quick can you switch between tunes? do you always have to connect the amt flasher and flash the stage you want?
yeah bro, so when you want to switch tunes you will have to connect the flasher, but it should only take about 10 minutes or so to flash. its not too bad honestly

Ahhh gotcha. Im 90% sure that just plugging it in will pull a snapshot of how the car is running so when you plug it into the computer you can pull it off and send it. That's what I've done, i plug it in, check for dtc, then hook up to my computer and send it to them. Give that a shot, should work bro.

If you could say which hot hatch it compares close to now that you have the tune which one would it be and what is your 0-60 time now?
To be honest, I feel like this is in its own category because its quick for an n/a 2 liter, but all the other hot hatches are boosted. 0-60 I need to test, its hard to measure without something accurate like dragy.

Which throttle/pedal assist do you have? And is it a night and day difference?
The one I have is the Injen X-Pedal or something like that. It made a huge difference before I got the tune. With the tune I just have it turned off as it is not necessary to have.
I added my headers and it show check engine light and warning but also shows a drive start malfunction. any tips to help me get rid of it?
Only way to get rid of it is with a tune, stage 2 or higher I believe. The check engine light is there because you remove the primary catalytic converter when you change the header.

Does this tune make a major difference if you have the CVT? Seems like this is great if you have a manual but not much of a difference if you have a CVT. Also, I noticed your odometer and you did the smart move by waiting till your b2b warranty is over before tuning your car.
I heard from a friend you actually feel the difference more with the CVT
I've heard from people with the CVT that they notice a nice difference with the tune. I plan to get the tune for my girls hatch which is CVT and I'll be able to give more feedback from that when it happens.
Also, yeah my warranty was almost up so i went for it but i wouldve done it at 5k had it been available lol 🤣 I'm past 36k now so it's definitely gone now lol

plus I see you put in 2j headers, not totally sure but I think with some dealers, that voids warranties as well

Completely understandable, not everyone is a fan of them lol. They do have the same tune without the pops & bangs. This video was taken back in March, last month i got on the Dyno with a previous file. I got some videos and will post them soon i have a few others to edit before. I'm on an updated file and the car feels even better, i have to go back to the Dyno and get updated runs.

02 spacer or defouler. It may work for you it may not. it did not work for me so i had the check engine light until the tuner figured it out and it went away with the tune.

Intake, header, catback exhaust, Amt tune with pops and bangs option. You could do it with the stock header but you’re gonna cause yourself a headache down the road

I have custom catback, intake and header. are you doing anything else with the cat delete? remember these cars have 2 cats, one of them on the midpipe and one on the header itself.

I would talk to AMT first to verify that they have support for the 23+. Last I heard, they were still working on it.

I have a 2014 toyota corolla with borla exhaust and cold air intake. it already does 1-2 pops each rev to 3RPM. Will this tune make it pop a lot more even with 1 exhaust?

The Injen thing? That was the throttle controller I had on the car to help with throttle response before I tuned the car. I took it off though since throttle response is better with the tune.

I've got the same car. Did the tuning increase the hp?
Yes, stock the car makes 151 whp to the wheel. I went to the dyno with just intake and exhaust and made 165 to the wheel, and the last time I went to the dyno, there is a video on my channel, I made 180 whp and the only difference was I added header and the "stage 2" tune. A header alone will not provide a 15 whp gain, which proves that the tune is making the most of the modifications and providing more power. I'm on an upgraded "stage 2++" tune now which feels much quicker, so I need to get back to the dyno for that soon.

I would recommend it after you first flash the tune so the car can relearn properly. For minor updates I don’t think it is necessary

at first yes because the tuner was still trying to figure that out, but now it is not there anymore, so if you get a tune now and you have a check engine for p0420 it will go away

I did it on my own, pretty easy and includes everything you need. I have helped some local friends with ttheirs as well.

Last time I went to the dyno i was on "stage 2" and made 180 wheel. I haven't been back to the dyno but the car feels much better with the updates I've had since. Once I get back to the dyno I'll post an update

I believe it is somewhere around 210 crank, it feels super fun for a Corolla!

so me personally I have Honda's 95 Civic ex coupe that's the built track car and then also a rare 2004 Honda Accord coupe V6 6-speed hfp Honda factory performance edition only 500 ever made BUT!!!!!!!!
My uncle has a 2020 Toyota Corolla SE 2.0 edition of a big JDM guy but I don't know much about these Corollas he originally wanted a 2005 or 2006 XRS but those are hard to come by love those things basically Toyota's version of the Honda K20 ANYWAYS my uncle didn't get his first choice of car so he's trying to make this thing a little more fun he just picked up the k&n intake for it we're getting ready to purchase a nice cat back and then next will be headers but I'm curious with the k&n intake could he go stage one tune with just that and then get it retuned after doing the cat back and headers and go stage 2????? So they're 169 at the crank stock and then you said they're about 151 at the wheels what do you think he'd be pushing with just the k&n intake and tune or just k&n intake by itself probably an extra five horsepower? And then with the intake exhaust and tune would he be sitting around like 160 ish? And then intake headers exhaust stage 2 tune he does not want pops and bags he'd be around 180 at the wheels? So around 200 at the crank? Sorry for all the questions man I'm just trying to do some photons on this thing with him so he can have fun hitting the canyons with me my buddy's in her Hondas and be able to get in some nice red light to red light races since he doesn't go to the actual street races with me he just likes to have fun when he's cruising without his wife and kids and he's never been big into modifying cars but he's starting to and I just want to get the most out of this car for him and I know when you do full tons you only gain minimal horsepower until you get a tune so I'm just trying to find out if I have him spend the money on this tune what kind of numbers were looking at with those few mods before and after tune

The XRS is an amazing platform, but yes very rare to come by. I raced one and it was a very close race.
Okay so on to the tune stuff, you can start off with stage one then purchase the upgrade for stage 2 in the future. Granted, stage one only needs a drop in filter, but if you decide to go that route you will notice the car becomes more responsive off the bat. When you go full bolt on and stage 2, you will be sitting around 180 whp which is what i got on mine. Just the intake might give a few hp im not exactly sure on numbers though lol. Honestly though this car really excels in cornering, especially with some upgrades to the suspension and adding some bracing, along with good tires and brakes. I take my car up to the mountains the last couple of years and its so much fun compared to driving it in florida LOL.
So stock # is 169 crank and 151 wheel. The first time I went to the dyno, I had injen intake and custom exhaust, no tune; that made 165 whp. Next time i went to the dyno i added header and stage 2 tune; that made 180 whp. I've since change my intake to the 2jracing intake, egr delete and stage 2++ tune, car feels good just havent found a dyno in the area i moved to so i can test it out.

Yes. You can flash back to stock though and it should be unnoticeable but don’t take my word for it I haven’t tried.

Any car can be tuned as long as there is someone willing to pay and a tuner willing to do the work and research. Not sure if that answers your question

$1k for their Stage 2 seems steep without actual evidence of performance boost on dyno logs.
I have Dyno once prior. Car was only intake and exhaust and made 165 wheel. In the Dyno video i have on my channel was stage 2 and added headers and it went up 15 wheel to 180. Headers alone only would add 4-5 HP at most so the tune is helping optimize all the modifications and bringing extra power into the mix. Stage 2 can be had for about 800 if I am not mistaken, but i have not checked. I only have the latest Dyno video on my channel but i have posts of both on my Instagram.

Is there a difference between AMT and TORK?
To be completely honest i have no idea. From what I have heard, their customer service sucks since they mainly focus on their stinger customers. Also i heard they have yet to figure out the p0420 cel issue. I havent actually compared the two though.
@@JulioTRD Tork was the only company I could find in my search before I saw this. So, that's who I went with. Now I know there is someone else and I don't know which is better. Tork has fixed the engine light cause mine isn't on. Tork also has an option for launch control and AMT doesn't. So, I don't know if I should which or not.

Main reason for launch control is literally to spool a turbo out the hole💀🤣
Did you notice a difference between the base map and after he sent you the final revision ?
Most definitely. Rev hang is gone. Throttle delay is no more. Car is much more responsive overall. Rpm is bumped up to 7200 (for the manuals at least not sure about the CVT). Acceleration is much better and pull hard to redline.
@@JulioTRD CVT are iffy I have the stage 2++ and TCM is limiting rpm to 6800~6900

Tune for the CVT does not increase rev limit as of right now. Tune for TCM is in development i believe.

It can run you anywhere from $600 to $1500 depending on what tunes you want. All info can be found on AMT's store website 💪🏼

P0420 no cats, has since been fixed. Tune disables that code so no more CEL.
Why would you tune a corolla? All those stages and can't even get to 200whp.

In detail, the car from factory is extremely unresponsive, so adding some bolt ons and a tune helps a lot, regardless of how much power it makes, it still maximizes the car's performance in conjunction with the bolt ons. The car is 10x more fun to drive simply because its actually responsive now. Rev matching is achievable. When you get on throttle, the car acts like it. I like to take the car on backroads, A LOT, and make a yearly trip to the mountains; power isn't everything around corners, how good the car handles and how well it responds to the driver's inputs make a huge difference. The driver makes a big difference also. I have had the chance to drive some quick cars before and going fast in a straight line is fun, but going fast around corners is 20x better.
Personally, I can't stand the pops and bangs. But each to their own.
Understandable. My tune now has them turned down a lot so it is not as crazy as before and I like it how it is now much more.

honestly, i havent seen anyone tune a hybrid... that would be something to talk with AMT about and see if they could support the hybrid corollas.
