    Hate people that complain about labor rates knowing it’s cheaper then a dealer.
    I have a friend that is very experienced in a certain type of plane that is known to be a handful on landings. A new owner asked him is per hour rate, he said $85. Guy said it too expensive. My buddy asked what his deductible was, guy said $1000. He then said he would train him for free but every time he had to save the plane the owner owed him $1000. The new owner took the hourly deal.

    I always hated doing an in field repair that had anything to do with having to use grease. Never fails you get everything clean as best you can or you drop something and you get a gust of wind and dirt goes everywhere or you grab the wrong rag in your haste and wipe something with it. Can't imagine what the mechanics in the military went through making repairs in the desert. Man that spindle really had some wear. You're right about the 8000 series Deere tractors. I spent a lot of time in a 8400. I have said it before I don't know what you charge but your worth every damn penny......

    I Know Warren You aren't That Man who lives to Wrong Someone so I will Say this to you in kindness;
    Those that have used you to benefit from an evil Deed will pay for their Evil in a mightier way than you can imagine! Don't Let their Evil turn you bitter to the point of hating them back, Forgive them and shake the dust off your feet Because you are way better than this. people ask me all the time why you let people take advantage of you soo much? And I Myself know the Answer to this question first hand and that is they mistake our Kindness for stupidity and once we realize their scheme we walk away and not allow them any more help! but it is hard when you have a servants heart which makes it difficult to see their schemes at first. as I have gotten older i am not so quick to jump on something that appears to be good anymore God Bless you Warren and Thank you for another lesson in repair.

    Interesting putting the new seals in. I bored out the cylinders, new pistons, the whole nine yards on my Ford 3000 and putting it all back together now. I am having a hard time putting the crankshaft rear main seal in so I just put it all on hold until I figured out what I was doing wrong. Greasing the outside diameter looks to be a mistake I made among others. Life is tough when you don’t know what your doing but I am learning.

    I feel your pain in wind like that, doing any kind of spannering, your fighting the dust out of everywhere, including yourself. Takes it toll on everything as well, grease, oils, tools, clothing, it’s a fluid sandpaper, gets in and just abrades.
    Well if you ain’t worth $100 an hour, then you don’t need that business, let him find out the hard way. You seem a good man, hard working and honest for sure, worth more than that an hour just for those traits alone.
    Keep safe out there, working in all conditions, and getting it done.

If Warren comes to the failure, he's on the clock at the job. 100, 125, 150? time is essential , when do you need it ? Go to JD Parts web site and buy the retro fit kit under the MFWD section. It will be cheaper than that $400.00 sleeve. The seal kit costs cost you about $300.00 and after that is installed the only thing you will have to replace in the future is the seals and maybe the bushing if worn. It does require a couple special tools to install which i can help you out with numbers or you can contact your local dealer. I've been putting in these kits for many years and if installed properly will work great.

IE truck, tools, licensing, insurance, etc. Hes lucky to see 50 bucks of it after being honest. I'd tell that guy, that he will get a discount on your labor rate, but he has to bring his stuff to your shop , see how much he saved when he's gotta pay for tows or trailering to your place. How many hours a day are unproductive when you are traveling just to get to the job. Then chasing parts, waiting for a call back to get approval for the repair?..... I hope you have a shop supply fee,fuel fee added to your invoice,because rags,and parts cleaner and lubricants all cost $$ and that stuff adds up. That guy probably also pays with a credit card ...so you get dinged again .. Self Employment....??

    They won't just charge him $160 per hour but if the book says the job should take 6 hours and they finish it in 4 then they will still charge him for 6 hours work.

    I'll never understand why when people call for a service on a piece of equipment or a truck that the driver or operator is not there why they don't leave the keys with the unit... You can get away with it on equipment cause they use mostly the same keys but on a truck not a chance in hell.... Happens to me all they time sitting there and waiting for a customer.... Oh well I charge a 100 an hour

    Figured you was in the 120-130ish hr rate. Given your knowledge and great work ethics. He isn't going to really like their higher rates then , along with all the pencil whipped add in in bogus charging fees... Maybe when he sees the light and returns for work you can let him know about your covid19 hazard pay increase fees just because of him ....

    Do you know they make a update kit for that. It gets away from all the BS in there.
