I really appreciate straightforward and simple videos. I just bought a used CZ 557 and couldn't figure out how to remove the bolt and that little lever is hidden! Thanks for demonstrating. This is a beautiful gun now no longer made as they have the CZ 600 which is super cool too. 🙂

@@tylorrose6260 It is a heavy gun to lump around, I do pack it on the quad most of the time so it’s not so bad if you don’t have to carry it around all the time, however the build quality to this firearm is second to none, it’s extremely accurate, I have a Vortex scope mounted presently.
Just found this channel...agree about Wood stocks.. a great review, missing the 550 and looking for a replacement. I hunted coastal NC for many years and have to agree 200/250 yards is about the limit. But don't we have some great Bear hunting? Now if CZ would just come out with another control round feed.

@@robertbrandywine Push feed is like a Remington 700 not a sako or Winchester. Those are controlled round feed rifles. Cz states this rifles has a new style of bolt drawing from both controlled round and push feed. This is probably why the guy who originally commented was interested in the bolt.
This is what Tikka should have done; all metal, and flat bottom plate, HOWEVER, What would Have made the 557, a Near perfect Rifle, would to have made the Bolt Throw 70 degrees for bolt handle to scope clearance; Lower scope Mounting. You see these Wonderful CZ Rifles with High Ring mounted scopes,; Gap so wide you could throw a Frisbee through them. Come on CZ.....Lets make it near perfect.
I'm with you I prefer a traditional wood and blued steel. I'd like to have one of these in 25-06. Do you know if there is a good receiver aperture sight available for this 557? I prefer a quality aperture sight with click adjustable windage and elevation. Thanks 👍
I have the 557 sporter and I've always had issues with my bolt getting jammed. When fully extended you can feel quite a bit of wiggling. So, when I push it back it back in, it will rub and get jammed a little. Any experience with this or any ideas of how to fix?

This same gun comes in a carbine version .. shorter barrel and factory iron sights. I love mine.

Bolt sounds like sand paper but it may be just the mic..Trigger seems light though.. wow

I just purchased a cz 557 in a 6.5 by 55 Swede but mines synthetic from what I've read and seen I have done wrong by getting it
Why does cz keep discontinuing models? The 452 and 550 were well loved and super accurate
Probably to open up manufacturing space for more popular/profitable/updated firearms
The 457 is a big Improvement over the 452. The 557 kind of fell flat compared to the 550, but the new 600 series looks great

I think there are some design issues with this rifle based on other videos I have seen
Lube with heavy lithium grease instead of light machine/gun oil. It will remove the sloppiness and allow the bolt to glide in the action.
Are the action bolt heads hex metric??

We use Sony CX455 now but had a GoPro I think when this video was done. The GoPro made things look a little different. We like the Sony better.
I purchased one in .243 , not a bad rifle but has the worst bolt release I have ever seen. I’ll sell it.

This is a push feed. It does not have control round feed. Made a boo boo there.
