@@TastySouP-ic7kq hey man it's all good! The explanation was said properly but I didn't play it the right way. The sticking does matter but is very difficult to hear the difference. 🤓
Great video! Loving the slow mo playback...helps me big time! I'm wondering what are your thoughts on different grip techniques? I'm a new drummer and my instructor is teaching me matched grip.
@@CameronFleury hey thanks for the response! A technique I'm thinking about is finger style. I'm noticing a lot of drummers using finger style, for better stick control at higher tempos. Is that a more advanced technique?
I wouldn't necessarily say it's an advanced technique, but in conjunction with other techniques it can be difficult to grasp at first. Like anything else it will require hours of practice. The finger technique is great for playing fast tempos. Definitely look into it, and maybe i'll put together a video on it.
Dirk is the man, man! Also slight side note, this pattern is a Flam accent and not a Swiss Army Triplet. The difference being the swiss army triplet sounds just like a flam accent. Instead of being build upon a single stroke roll it has a double stroke with a flam on the first note, followed by a single stroke. The Swiss army triplet doesn’t alternate naturally within itself. Hope this helps :) They're practically the same thing. Thanks for commenting Mark!
@@CameronFleury Explain your foot technique! Show your positioning and how your foot technique changes as the song BPM increases! Feel free to get ultra long-winded and nerdy about pedal settings, beaters, beater patches, footwear... Anything that you think is relevant
Your not exactly doing it right. When you added the cymbal, you change from a flam accent to triplets... you play RRR on the snare and your left hand once on the cymbal and than switched. It's meant to be RRL on snare with the left hand the cymbal for the first R. And switch to LLR on snare with right hand on cymbal during the first stroke... and this does matter a lot, as the Dirk blast gets it unique from this order of hand playing on the snare in this particular way

Love how your production is going up! Stay strong man, your channel is one of the best out there!
Slow and steady my man! Thanks so much for your support!
Check out Dirk's band Scarve. The drum work is outstanding. His playing on Sybreed's "Antares" is awesome as well.
As always, great video! I love these small lesson format clips! Keep up the great stuff!
Jake thanks for letting me know! Anything you'd like to see in specific?
What size snare are you using?
Dirk is one crazy man(very talented)
I totally agree. It's fun to play, until you hit your hands.
Dirk is a beast. Can't wait to hear him on the new Megadeth record.
Very cool explanation and it sounds great too!!\m/!! It was also funny to watch you mess up when you were talking about impressing everyone lol!!
wasn't sure if that was appropriate, but that's how I am. Thanks for the kind words man!
such a groovy blast

I'm wondering what are your thoughts on different grip techniques? I'm a new drummer and my instructor is teaching me matched grip.
Thanks Frank! Grip depends and what you're comfortable playing, and how you feel playing that way. Which grips we're you thinking about trying out?

@@CameronFleury A video on grip technique (even if was just your preferred method) would be hella useful!
Thanks again!
That's something i'm definitely looking forward to. Thanks Frank, all the best on your drumming endeavours. :)
Dirker Dirker, Dirks got a couple of lessons of his out there, he's a cool guy. Great video dude, Swiss army triplet! Phrase of the day!

@@BeatsAndMeats perfect man, thanks for the detailed response! I'll add that to a list of videos to make. Thanks again :)
I was never good with free sticking, neither my bass punches were good enough. Quite nice content. Keep it up mate!!
That's quite alright, that's why I'm making these videos. 😎
Every video on TH-cam: “Please remember to like and subscr-“ ***turns off TH-cam***
😂 It's the least I can ask for in return for providing these videos free of charge.
Really cool dude!
Much appreciated man! You can use the pattern which ever way you please.
Genial .
This is the technique Aaron Stechauner does with RoS and The Faceless
That dude is a beast! Actually I met him a few weeks ago down in California. Great dude!
@@CameronFleury Lucky! I almost got to see him live but, something came up last minute. Lol
@@mpk6664 ever checked out his band interloper? Thats who I'd seen him play with. Really good stuff!
@@CameronFleury Oh yeah. Interloper is fantastic.
Was standing side stage, and i'm like "damn this drummer is tight". Didn't even realize til after the gig who he was. All makes sense now!
Dude you are a great player
Jeff thank you man!

See the pinned comment. 😊
What you play vs what you teach are completely different
I understand I played the sticking differently. Something that has already been brought to my attention. I explained it properly of course.
great job
Thank you! Not sure i've see you around here before?
Why swap hands at all on the hihat? No point in it
if you look at flam accent pattern, it goes R(L)RRL(R)LL instead of just R(L)RR repeatedly
also it helps building ambidextrity
