Xanax is basically banned in Australia. Its an S8 medication which means it’s basically impossible to get thank god for that! It seems to be useful for 3 days then your tolerance grows, your addiction grows and suddenly you’re up the creek. I got addicted in the 90s. Had a bottle of 2mg x 100!! After a month of light use it became apparent that my anxiety was worse than ever. I only took them initially because my separation from a terrible person was very stressful! I had never really had anxiety before. I know what anxiety feels like, everyone gets it sometimes, but normally I didn’t suffer from it. Xanax actually gave me anxiety. So to fix the problem I dissolved 15 tablets in 60 ml of water in a bottle.. then I would dispense myself 2ml of the preparation at night time and top it up with freshwater each time and leave it in the fridge. That’s only one milligram and every time you have it afterwards it’s dosage is decreasing in a inversely proportional taper - painless. Worked like a treat. You just have to remove any temptation of taking Xanax when you are a little bit pissed off or upset. I threw them in the toilet- devil’s brew! I am glad that XANAX and is banned in Australia because I can see the problem caused overseas by its continual dispensing.
I had cancer & was nvr given more than .25mg. Ppl talking about ‘bars’ of Xanax are the ones who typically get in trouble. I can’t believe Dr’s prescribe more than .25mg pill. I occasionally take 1/2 of that! So no, it doesn’t take 10 yrs to get off of it if the patient & Dr are careful. I needed Xanax for chemo side effects, like nausea.
@@CapysGardenShop but often Dr.s aren’t careful. They are responsible singlehandedly for the opioid epidemic. They don’t understand addiction typically and they also don’t understand how their prescribing practices promote addiction.
I took benzos and TRUST me...they made me feel relief at first but then became my hell. They are not worth the pain & suffering . That is my honest opinion based on my experience.
@Jenny Àldrich look up benzo post acute withdrawal syndrome and look up the Heather Ashton manual. Haven't taken A benzo in 3 yrs but they've ruined my brain/body. Muscle tightness in every joint, all my tendons are in pain/inflamed, tinnitus, chronic fatigue, apathy, nerve pain, sensations. They are terrible. They induce glutamate excitotoxicity.
@@Rachelllllll2024 oh wow I didn't know I will have to look that up but I've been on these since back in 2003 maybe 1993 anyway i fell super hard at my old job back in 2017 and it had to have shifted my body anyway had a MRI on neck I have cervical spinal stenosis and all the Drs I've been to say there is nothing they can do. There are bone spurs bulge disc bone on bone and osteoarthritis in neck plus the fluid leaked out. And can't hold my head up I'm in pain every second of the day and night. Benzos ruined my life for years, took even longer for the side-effects to wear off. I don't know why these are still prescribed, but it's just not worth it.
@@wawabbit Thanks. Many professionals, including my own, are still in denial on benzos and recover times/damage. I was always well under my prescription dose for 3 years, tapered a little too quick over a six month period, then completely off for seven years now. I have little to no memory of 3-5 of those years during and after. Had to switch doctors as the previous didn't believe what was going on. They weren't alone either. I have severe social anxiety and take both a SSRI and Benzodiazepines PRN usually when I miss a day or 2 of my paxcil is when I take about half daily until my paxcil starts to work again. The drug can have awful effects if used incorrectly but it is a life saver for me. I am the same way as you. I can't even leave my house at 32 years old. It's killing me and I have suffered since I was nine years old. No doctors can take me seriously and it's starting to get to the point where I don't even know if I can live like this until I'm 40😢 I've never had a prescription for benzos but I've taken every route ssris snris beta blockers which landed me in the hospital after taking too many, I mean it's just insane. I can distinguish the difference between high blood pressure and anxiety so I definitely need something for my anxiety and panic attacks I suffer from morning to night just like you basically but I am not taken seriously. Until people start taking their own lives because the anxiety is so debilitating. I take clonazepam most nights only at 0.5 and I can get them from somebody unfortunately but that's the route I have to take to even maintain my sanity at this point. I don't up my dose so, I've been through Alprazolam withdrawal before not because I was abusing them, I went through something traumatic and was cut off very quickly. That's when I got them from a friend after that and tapered myself all fairly quickly and easily actually. But I knew now that it's worse than ever my anxiety is almost Unstoppable and I do everything I can from Thai boxing, Russian sistema, mindfulness meditation, everything I can possibly do and none of it works

I got off benzodiazepines by tapering down. No issues. Now three years later in back on. They have saved my life. I'm now able to work again and be independent.
Benzodiazepines works fine on me for chronic use. But Antidepressants have more side effects and lees therapeutical effects on my body, every person and situation is different...
I have a friend who has been on Klonopin for about a decade, and it works well for him for his anxiety, depression and insomnia. It's doubtful he'll ever get off. But he hasn't had any rebound anxiety or any problems with it at all. It's worked well. I rarely ever hear anything positive about benzodiazepines, everything is warning, addiction, and beware. But it seems like there are some good uses for it, and some people do well on it for longer periods of time
That is correct, you should rarely hear anything positive about benzodiazepines. You don't know the bad until you build tolerance and try to get off of them. The withdrawal is unimaginable hell. Also, they are only meant to be taken for 2 weeks
Not always a short term solution, have untreatable, have tried every psychological trick in the book, panic disorder with agoraphobia so I am on alprazolam ER for years, daily.
My doctor prescribed me Xanax, once I learned how addictive they were I never tried to get a refill. They definitely make you less anxious and not care about anything.
Mine switched me from Xanax to Klonopin... three years ago. The effect is longer, more drawn out and subtle. It takes Xanax and makes it last twice as long with about half the effect, as I've experienced. There is no "high", the effects are very subtle. I wouldn't say they make me "care less" about things nor do they cure my anxiety (I'm not on a large dose) but they take the edge off. I know what they say about addictiveness. I'm pretty sure I am somewhat physically dependent but why is that a bad thing? Being addicted to things is human nature. At least three times in my life I was on opioids for several weeks at a time, and I'm here to tell the story. I respect drugs, but I don't fear them. And they respect me back. In my opinion and experience, people get dangerously addicted when they do stupid things like take more than prescribed, double dose take them with liquor, etc.
I got a benzodiazepine to help me deal with sleeplessness from developing tinnitus. The 3 month process of getting on and off them nearly shattered my life, and it took about a year for the worst of the symptoms to really go away and to recover psychologically with the help of a therapist. Nothing worse has happened to me before or after (and I’m currently recovering from a c-section after a complicated pregnancy- not even close). Doctors seem to only understand this medicine theoretically, which was part of the trauma. This drug does not ultimately manage anxiety. It takes it to never imagined heights, and leaves you in a much more difficult place than where you started. Maybe ok to take once or twice a year for flying or so, never ok to take regularly.
@@wawabbit Thanks for saying that. It was a really rough experience but thanks to a really competent psychologist I was able to fully overcome it and learn to manage anxiety without medicine in the process. I just don’t want anyone to have to go through that. There are other options, drug-free ones being the best in my opinion.
I know how you feel. Doc had me on them of 13 years. 5 months off and I'm temporarily on Prozac. That med is only making it more tolerable. Will jump off of these eventually too. 🤷
1000% Benzos should not be recommended unless every other avenue has been explored 1st including therapy. Highly highly addictive and literally ruins generational relationships.
After watching benzos destroy the lives of so many of my friends, mainly due to the negligence in how they're prescribed and the way they're viewed by the public, like just they're not viewed as dangerous as they should be. This should be a drug for someone undergoing something incredibly difficult like cancer, or terminal illness. Not 18 year old kids that have a general anxiety disorder.
Hi! I was 16 when I was first prescribed a benzodiazapine for panic disorder. I have been taking lorazepam for half of my life safely and as prescribed. With that medication, coupled with CBT and exposure therapy, I've been able to overcome debilitating panic attacks to live a pretty normal life. I totally recognize how this highly addictive substance has ruined many people's lives, but it's also saved many, too.
@@wawabbit I've seen a lot of your comments under this video, I can tell you believe that all things can be healed via natural remedies. I have two autoimmune disorders that both bring with them sleep disorders, and I am allergic to garlic. :-( I use other natural plant and scent relaxants, but nothing helps my sleep now. from study i read not all GABA receptors adapt to need more to have the same effect particulary the receptors that benzos target for anxiolytic effect didnt need more benzos even after a year of use but the ones that makes us sleepy and the ones that alter memory adapt in a few weeks max in most cases(but these are unvanted effects anyway). And most bad stories i read about benzos showed misuse and many time real stupidity involved, but tried to blame the benzos instead of the person who abused it.

Kimberly Wood. Same here I have been taking benzos for more than 20 years too with the same dose. We are dependent on benzos and not addictive. If that dose stays the same after use of it for so many years than it is just like any other med for heart, diabetes etc. It is safe to continue to take the same dose for the rest of your life. Because with my study on this subject chances of relapse are extremely high if you tapper off benzo with same dose use of many years. That's why lot of rehabs will not take you for tapering off benzos with same dose use for long time. So enjoy life. And don't worry about it. But addiction is completely different ball game. The patients dose keep increasing and need to tapper off. For example a patient took benzo regular dose at a regular time. Now like example after 4 hours his anxiety increases after taking the first dose. This anxiety is more severe than the one he had earlier. Now this person needs to take another dose to avoid panic attack. Now this will increase the dose of med regularly in order to be in same state of feeling normal. This is definitely Addiction which needs to be tapered off. Cheers

I took the max dose of Ativan for two years twice at two different times. I read the horror stories about dependence. Then I decided to ignore them and both times had no trouble tapering and stopping. No withdrawal symptoms, nothing. I think that sometimes the dependence is more mental than physical and that when people read the horror stories it ups their anxiety about stopping even more, causing, essentially, anxiety symptoms. Benzos have helped millions of people who never self-report and just taper off and are done. Benzos have their place.

This was a great video-esp during the pandemic. Thank-you. Could you do a vid that explains how benzodiazepines affect the brain (specific areas) and the half-life of it.
WTF, benzos give me energy and improve my coordination. They don’t work like this guy says on me. For instance during my colonoscopy I woke up and asked for my glasses so I could watch the screen. I get so much energy I can dance for hours and in high heels. I wish they weren’t addictive. Would total improve my quality of life.
I prefer magic mushroom it’s all natural and safe to use without any addiction possibilities, I get mine delivered discreetly from an online vendor and they have the best psychedelic products, DMT, LSD and more
Calm down. Unless you’ve had cancer, know your limits/know it’s addictive, & make sure the Dr. only prescribes .25 to take sparingly, then there’s no problems. They were discussing the meds, not recommending. And think about alcohol use. That’s the real problem.
@@CapysGardenShop Excuse me, but screw you. "Unless you've had cancer..." UGH. Cancer is the body's response to cellular insult. Learn how the body actually works.
@Solitude Standing11 Yeah, I know. I feel like that guy is disrespectful, and this video is disrespectful, and the entire idea of putting such wicked substances into one's body is disrespectful. They gave me hydroxyzine to deal with an itch they say is from dry skin. Months of oily salve doesn't help. Anyhow, the pills make me sleep for 18 hours. It's disabling. I read about it and it's also a benzo substitute for anxiety.
I take 1 around 3am in hopes of feeling tired. 2 made me feel hungover. I don’t sleep longer than 3-6-8 hrs. It’s very light, but I’ve been taking consistently for over a year. I am happy with it, surprisingly. And this is after ‘10-‘14 on Ambien for sleep.
Try Natrol melatonin plus the L-theanine w/ the Hydroxyine. I do often take Zyrtec w/ it when I’m itchy. Hydroxyine doesn’t help itching, but somehow does help me fall sleep. Zyrtec doesn’t help me fall asleep, but will make me feel sleepy when I am awake...but been on it for so long that I can usually push thru.
You need more internal oils and fats for the dry skin, as well as HYDRATION, which includes adding minerals - especially a good salt - to your drinking water.
Could you talk to your prescriber about giving you an antihistamine that won't make you as drowsy? I know hydroxyzine is very effective for anxiety, especially as it pertains to sleep. But for itching I'm sure that there's other options that aren't quite as sedative.

Me too ! my panic attacks started in early 20 s. I have been on-and off lorazepam for a long time (more off than on ) it really helps when things just become overwhelming.
Benzodiazepines are among some of the most dangerous medications out there in terms of addiction potential. Anxiety disorders are highly treatable. Cognitive behavioral therapy is not always the best treatment modality for these disorders. Many of the anxiety disorders have their genesis in trauma and good trauma treatment can resolve symptoms frequently. This could be somatic-based psychotherapy or EMDR or other psychotherapy‘s that I actually treat the nervous system over activation and re-process trauma so that it doesn’t produce symptoms. These medicines are almost never helpful beyond extremely short term crisis use their downsides far outweigh their benefits. 30 year career psychologist posting.
Nutrition is key to get anxiety under control. Stress causes mineral depletion, and makes the brain not work correctly in order to deal with the past trauma. For example. A holistic approach then.
Do you think psychedelics could help in that way the last part sounded pretty much like their effect I belong to MAPS .ORG last time I checked they where at 90% recovery from pstd, depression etc using MDMA most likely regular users won't be benefitted that much to put it in one line It's pure MDMA a normal dose of course it relases serotonine disables fear to memories mirror neurons are at it's peak overwhelming feelings of empathy and love understanding example most people that suffered from sexual abuse traumas are unconsciously remember it clearly due to the nature of mirror neurons they find themselves on the abuser body in their memory and feel sad that person had to do that some imagine tons of situations that would make someone be like that. Most people go through the same process of emphaty and understanding it's not just amphetamine excitation eveything combined and without having the unpredictability of classical psychedelics
What would you recommend for sleep? I'm on a .5 Alprazolam per night and have been for years. I took it for insomnia as nothing else seemed to work. But of course it really didn't work for long either. I'm also on Carbamazepine, 800mg. Gabapentin,600mg. Baclofen,30mg. Metoprolol,25 mg. 3x a day and Benadryl 2 x a day. The first 3 are for Trigeminal Neuralgia. The Metoprolol is for P.O.T.S. and the Benadryl is OTC for sleep, but isn't working.
I am having similar issues. I posted my condition in comments. Hope you find a way to get off these psychiatric meds. They alter the brain chemistry and we end up being dependent or addicted. I don't know if I am dependent or addicted. I am always trying to taper but end up on square one. Horrible

I'm so sorry for your experience.

Cheers

I haven't developed tolerance in my 20 years of daily intake of 1 mg of CLONAZEPAM.
Tell that to the people who DIE while in withdrawal. One person's experience is not another's.
No way in hell...You've got to be the one in a million chance. I'm sure of fentanyl has its uses to but it's just not worth it. Too many people I love are gone because of benzos. I'd die than take them.
only 50% of long term users develop dependence/tolerance/negative withdrawal symptoms.
Half the people just simply stop using them
benzos have terrible side effects, and the withdrawal is very difficult. cognitive impairment, memory loss, respiratory issues, and even death. they are highly restricted and i was treated like a criminal/junkie when i was dependent on them, had to play all kinds of game$; and jump through hoop$ to keep getting them. loss of control and self respect. it's irresponsible, and unethical to promote them given the data that's available from long term usage of many people now. the psychiatrist that prescribed benzos to me quit the pill pushing racket, because he witnessed so many people's lives destroyed by pharmaceuticals, including benzos.
I have been on clonazepam for many years 2mg or 1.5mg along with 100mg of Sertraline. I need to sleep to be able to function. My doctor added Trazodone 50mg. On top that I take acetaminophen pm. I tried to taper benzo,, it becomes unbearable during working hours, dizziness, imbalanced, confused. My first reaction is to take another .5mg of clonazepam that helps me with balance within minutes. I know I am going to suffer in older age because of all these medications. Any suggestions? My PC physician just adds more medication. I have to work and it's becoming unbearable.
You need to see a physchiatrist. You’re on way too many meds.
Don’t ever take these. My mum was prescribed these and they turned her into a vegetable. Destroyed her!!!! And she’s not alone!!!! 😡😡😡
i could walk away from my benzos id be dead in 3 weeks my anxiety is super bad
People dont exercise, drink coffee, eat fast food and wonder why they have anxiety. Exercise conditions your body to handle stress. Coffee or caffeine increases the stress hormones.
and then you get bad therapists and drs that want to sell the more expensive drugs/ on Xanax for 25 yrs and doing good and they pulled me off without regard to withdrawal...now I medicate with medical marijauna
That’s awful, without properly tapering down xanax can cause a seizure and possible death.
I'm on benzodiazepines opioids and I drink alcohol and been doing it for
Well just as with any other medication there are people who will be able to use it successfully long-term and people who will find it a nightmare from day one. I have been on the same dose of Ativan since I started. And it is the one drug that works for me successfully for sleep, I don't abuse it, and it makes my life better.
Until it turns on you, and it will. Vast majority of those injured by benzos took as prescribed.
Newest research shows permanent damage from long term use.
Have you try Clonazepam rivotril or Klonopin?
Don't judge everyone who takes these meds. Some people actually do need them for medical reasons. But you MUST take them responsibly, and be monitored, and follow all the guidelines. I'm a little surprised you did not mention that grapefruit increases the amount of effect of benzos, so avoid any kind of grapefruit if you are taking them. If you were to mix benzos, alcohol and / or grapefruit, you might not wake up.
@@anglenawaller5322 I didn't know that, and it is good to know! Clonopin can be useful cause it has a much longer effect than xanax. Xanax is like a powerful sprinter and clonopin is like a slow skinny marathon runner. Maybe try to switch over when possible than after successfully switching start cutting down the clonopin.
Talk to your doc about it, tell him you heard clonopin can be easier to taper down and get off with being that it’s a lighter slower release benzo than xanax.

Librium is a good medicine to use to get off heavier benzos. First you taper down on your Xanax some, then You take Librium for a couple weeks then taper down and then off the Librium. That’s one method. Clonopin can also be used to come off xanax with a slow taper again with that.

Do you think psychedelics could help in that way the last part sounded pretty much like their effect I belong to MAPS .ORG last time I checked they where at 90% recovery from pstd, depression etc using MDMA most likely regular users won't be benefitted that much to put it in one line
It's pure MDMA a normal dose of course it relases serotonine disables fear to memories mirror neurons are at it's peak overwhelming feelings of empathy and love understanding example most people that suffered from sexual abuse traumas are unconsciously remember it clearly due to the nature of mirror neurons they find themselves on the abuser body in their memory and feel sad that person had to do that some imagine tons of situations that would make someone be like that.

@@CapysGardenShop Oh, it's OK for you to say a particular drug is "evil," yet you nonchalantly mock other people for giving their opinions on what they've gone through with other drugs. Good for you, Hypocrite.
@@CapysGardenShop p.s. Sleep paralysis is due to magnesium deficiciency. How do I know this? Because I had it. I did research on what it IS, and found the cure - Mg. The body goes into a type of paralysis when asleep so you don't go flailing around when you dream. As you wake up, if you're deficient in minerals you may end up waking up before the body releases the paralysis. It is quite logical. ALL the drugs you take will deplete minerals...............and so you'll need more drugs to combat the side effects of that............and so on and so forth.
Unfortunately you will.
Good luck! Your going to need it.
My doctors logic i asked him to changed 4 Prozac for something else 4 Venlafaxine it was easy to me to get out of benzos but 4 venla was so hard
😍 Thank you Sir. 😍
2 mill subs wow
Can you take this drug and be pregnant?
Birth defects...but Dr's usually never talk about the dangers of benzos
@@Dream7773 I can't get my daughter to believe me she won't even listen to what I'm trying to warn her about.... She went off birth control and is trying to get pregnant 😢😟
@@victoriapalmer5146 unfortunately, once our children grow up they decide their own path . But if she thinks you are being too overbearing, have her do her own research.
Best of luck❤️🙏
As doctors, you had a moral responsibility to speak out against the lockdowns.
Lol @ “lockdowns”
