    I got a humidifier for only $5 and it does wonders. Not ten minutes, I already tell a big difference and it makes me feel more comfortable and relaxed. And believe it or not, it makes my room feel colder. Not sure if my body is being influenced in the increase of humidity thinking it makes my room cooler but it does feel like that. I use ice water and it works best like that. Humidifiers for the win!

    My original intention for this humidifier was to use it for plants that require high moisture levels. After using it in my room, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj however, I think that's where it is going to stay in the fall and winter season at least. The increased humidity in my room made the room warmer and more comfortable. I had first ran the humidifier for 4 hours with the timer setting for it. After the first hour, I checked my room and can feel the difference. When the full 4 hours was up, I checked again and noticed that the humidifier was shut off as it is suppose to. The moisture level never seem to get passed 56/57%. I then let it run until all the water is used up, which it wasn't all used up. There are still some left in the base that you are not suppose to add water to. I filled up the water tank all the way again, being careful when removing it from the base. Some left over water may spill out. After putting it back on and setting the unit to auto, I let it operate. It didn't stop running, rather I don't know if it did at any point since I didn't check it regularly, for 24 hours after which the water in the tank ran out. The moisture reading never passed 56/57%, which may be a good thing for me. Being situated right next to my bed, the noise was not very noticeable with the occasional water gurgle from time to time as the unit ran.

    *Well-made, delivered quickly, and easy to install with **Fastly.Cool** . I may be imagining it, but it seems quieter than the 14 year-old unit that I pulled out. Of course it was noisy at the end due to failed bearings, so hard to compare.*

    So, the ones that dispense hot steam are not called humidifiers, they are called VAPORIZERS. It says "Vaporizer" right on the box, and vaporizers are mostly used when a person is sick with a cold, flu, sinus infection, etc. This is why VAPORIZERS have that little tray on top - it's meant to hold medicine, typically Vicks. Vaporizers and humidifiers are NOT the same and should NOT be placed in the same category, for they each serve different purposes. HUMIDIFIERS dispense cool mist into the air. Humidifiers are used typically during a colder climate. When it's cold outside, we turn our heat on, and heat dries out the air... especially electric heating! So in this case a humidifier would help. Then there's the DEHUMIDIFIER. The dehumidifier is typically used in hotter, naturally muggy environments - like Florida, for example. Having too much moisture in the air can also be dangerous. Too much moisture can ruin your paint, create black mold in unseen spots, and it can also do irreversible damage to the electronics in your home. In this case, a dehumidifier would be used to remove excess moisture from the air. Either way, best thing to do is to get yourself a meter that reads humidity levels. I got one from Home Depot years ago, cost me $8.00 and it still works today! I hope that helps, cause there's a whole lot of information missing from this video!

    I got a humidifier a few months ago from Amazon . I was wondering is breathing humidifier mist safe ?

    • @getridofit
      @getridofit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late response...
      Yes, generally breathing mist from a humidifier is considered safe. Humidifiers work by increasing the moisture level in the air, which can be beneficial especially in dry climates or in wintertime when indoor air tends to become dry from heating systems. They can help with dry skin, chapped lips, nosebleeds, and respiratory symptoms such as those from a cold or allergies.
      However, there are several important considerations:
      Cleanliness: It's critical to keep your humidifier clean and well-maintained. Bacteria, mold, and allergens can grow in humidifiers if they're not cleaned regularly, and these could be dispersed in the mist and potentially inhaled. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and maintenance.
      Type of Water Used: Use distilled or demineralized water in your humidifier if possible. Tap water may contain minerals that can be dispersed in the air and breathed in, and can also cause mineral buildup in your humidifier, promoting bacterial growth.
      Humidity Levels: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends maintaining indoor humidity levels between 30 and 50 percent. High humidity can cause condensation on surfaces, which can promote mold and bacteria growth. Some humidifiers have built-in hygrometers (devices that measure humidity), or you can purchase a separate one to monitor indoor humidity levels.
      Cool Mist vs. Warm Mist: Both are generally safe, but cool mist humidifiers are usually recommended if you have children, because there's no risk of burns from steam or hot water.
      If you have any specific health conditions, like asthma or allergies, you might want to consult a healthcare provider before using a humidifier. It's also a good idea to talk to a healthcare provider if you're planning to use a humidifier in a baby or child's room.

    This subject has always confused me. In the summer months when it's hot, humidity in the air is high so your sweat doesn't evaporate. In the cold season, humidity in the air is low, so your sweat evaporates quickly. So you need humidifiers to add moisture in the air in the cold seasons, is that correct? I sleep in the attic where there's no heater, it's currently 6c or 42f outside in the night. My room is cold as hell and my nose/feet are frozen, throat is dry too in the morning. Can I combine an electrical heater with a humidifier or can I use a humidifier on it's own without a heater?

    • @jellybaby7
      @jellybaby7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have dry throat after sleep & awful dry cough, recently started using my small humidifier for 5 hours each day, made air cooler but my cough better and no dry throat, humidifier won't warm a room but heater on one side & humidifier other side of room would be great for best health I would say, I've now ordered a bigger humidifier & an air purifier

    • @coolific2582
      @coolific2582 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      as long as there is no mold or bacteria present, it should be safe to inhale, but i would not recommend doing it for too long as it will irritate your airways and make you cough.
